GWJ2STAR 3.0 - Week 6

Welcome to Week 6!

Let me know if you are having trouble getting your game to start. I've tried to start my game, only to get a freeze while still loading three times now. I do think there could be a corruption issue in my file, as I can no longer use the Ace Big formation. When I look at it in the formation subs screen, I only have 10 olayers and no HB. When this reared its head a couple of weeks ago, the game just randomly began putting DT's in at HB when I was in that formation. It happened when Zach Line went out with an injury.

Much fun.

You enabled Refrigerator Perry Mode (TM) in this dynasty? I thought that was 2013's big new feature.

I ran into the reincarnations of every awesome WR ever this game. An absolute joke. Every single time I had Toledo at 3rd and +10, they converted on some BS pass. EMU losses by 1. Their defense would go from swiss cheese to brick wall every other possession. Booooooo

I'm gonna go play mine now. Time to save my 1-3 season!

I was finally able to play by switching up to a playbook that did not have Ace Big as a formation. Even if I loaded different teams, an even different types (say Pro in stead of Multiple), I still saw the same issue. the magic playbook ended up being NIU's, too!

I had played around with NIU while testing sliders and I remembered kind of liking it. It seemed to be a good a fit, too. I scored a season high in points in beating Southern Miss 38-26. My running game is back, and Padron had a nice game in the air.

But I had a lot of problems slowing down a Spread offense, as I typically do. I probably should have switched to a 4-2-5 instead of sticking with my 4-3 defense. I've had better luck when facing the Spread and Air Raid playbooks with that defense. But since the run is tougher to stop with the new sliders, I have been trying to stick with the 4-3.

So SMU climbs their way back to .500, with a 3-3 record. I really feel like these sliders are perfect. I do wish we might have found this balance to start the season.

I still think interceptions are way too rare. They never happen, even on passes right to the defenders.

You might be right. That is worth looking at. I have had a few in my games, but I'm not sure how they relate to real life in frequency.

Looking at it, I've thrown 7, but picked off three. Are you saying we should increase just the USER side, or both?

User side. The AI gets enough random BS picks :p

Here's the number of INTs our teams had last season, with pace in our league in parentheses:

Northern Illinois - 16 (3)
Buffalo - 15 (6)
UTEP - 11 (7)
SDSU - 10 (2)
SMU - 10 (6)
Eastern Michigan - 2 (6)

We are all on pace for signicant;y fewer INTS than our real life counterparts. Well, except for the mighty midgets of EMU, who are overachieving.

Overall, we are short by 55% or so. That's pretty significant. I think most of us are also at least a a little better than the 2010 versions of the teams. I will bump it up stating next week.

Good call, Counselor.

SDSU helped with that I think.

Because I am lame and like to run numbers, I looked at our INT rates too. They actually seem pretty close. The bold numbers are our INT's/Pass attempts and the rate. Then I put in the rate of our real life counterpart. the last number is how many INT's we would have if we through at their rate.

EMU - 6/141 .043 .050 - 7
Buffalo - 3/91 .033 .056 - 5
NIU - 7/121 .058 .024 - 3
SDSU 3/69 .043 .033 - 2
SMU 7/156 .045 .027 - 4
UTEP 11/178 .062 .032 - 5
37/26 .047.037

While we are close, we could stand to have ours lessened by about the some degree as we want our defense's increased. There are a lot of factors that go into throwing INTs, so it is not nearly as clean. But my notion is to Increase USER INT 10 and drop CPU INTs by 5.

Any thoughts?

I think definitely the former. The latter...probably. I've seen some LBs and safeties teleport slightly to get to balls they probably shouldn't. Still, when looking at those numbers, remember that I suck and often make bad decisions. So, mine should be high. Seriously, though, I have trouble when I'm swapping between my Ferrarri (ND in the other dynasty) and my Saturn (NIU...). The QBs can place things much differently in the former.

I don't have all of Jayhawker's fancy numbers, but it seems to me that the computer and I throw bad passes, that should be picked, and they just aren't. It's a feeling thing. I think Jayhawker's suggested changes should make things fine.

haha. I'm glad I can help. I will also stop giving my players "stone-gloves."

I plan on playing my game tonight, in case you guys are waiting on me.

So, of course there are two picks in the first quarter of my game.

Buffalo wins.
