The Pile's Empty... April Fools!

I'm trying, but I'76 has gotten pretty frustrating in mission 5 already. No quicksaves and no checkpoints, yet there's a jump at the very end of the 10+ minute stage that is a guaranteed fail if you don't make it.....and I've not made it (or even come close) about seven times now. Yes, I am using nitrous right before the jump.

I'm seriously considering using the level skip code.

Okay, I decided to try and complete the Megaman Zero Collection this month. I've already finished the first two games and I'm dying to know what ultimately happens to Zero.

Undeclared, but a win is a win.

Afterburner Climax on XBLA is gone. Thanks to Parallax Abstraction's friend feed on TA, I was inspired to finish it off once and for all.

A fun romp, and a reminder of what SEGA did best in it's hayday of coin gobbling cabinets.

Now back to Orzammar (honest), or is that the Gears 3 Beta calling me...

F.E.A.R. 2 is finished. I had heard a lot of negative hype about it but I wound up quite enjoying it. It wasn't up to the standards of the original I don't think and yeah, the HUD was pretty annoying, but still not bad.

I may try to knock something else off the pile since I still have a third of April left, or I may just go back to my EU game for a while and try to figure out why the French are busy exterminating the Mayans...

Ditto here. Picked up Mafia II on the Amazon.com sale a few weeks back, and beat the mainline quest this past weekend -- I think that counts, what with the three-month restriction. I've still got the DLC since the version I picked up turned out to be Platinum Hits, so there's that.

I'm also working on Red Dead Redemption, but I'll officially declare that in, like, June or July. Maybe as early as April, but new stuff (and life; I'm on Spring Break right now) is going to get in the way.

I'm going to redouble my efforts on my carry-over of Sam & Max -- Season 1 from, what, February's list? It's only three more episodes, I think -- let's see if that can happen tonight.

That means you've only played the first 3 then? Rejoice, for now they get much better! There's a reason they gave away Abe Lincoln Must Die! as an advertisement for the season.

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light went down last night... I really enjoyed it, and I think I'll actually go back in the very near future and try for the speed runs and final challenges to net the last 25GS and 100% it, but the credits rolled, and that's the imporetant thing.

Last battle:

Spoiler:

How many times do you need to flush before that Xolotl finally goes away... talk about eeking it out!?!?

At least the save check points were OK, I was worried I was goign to have to start all those shenanigans from the start when I accidently rolled into the lava pit.

Back to Orzammar and the Gears 3 Beta. Only 8 days left in the month, but a lot of those are public holidays! Nice work Christianity focused society!

Sorry, I just have to postpone Dead Space again. I came to the conclusion that survival horrors are NOT the genre to try and get used to the gamepad controls - the game is freaky enough as it is, I don't need additional controls futzing to add tension.

I'm switching to Arkham Asylum. People say it's good.

The main story mission are done and the credits have rolled on Just Cause 2. The game is enormous: the stats say I've played 30 hours and change, and completed 31% of the game. I'll definitely go back at some point to knock out more achievements, but I'm done with it for now.

Wrapped up Assassins Creed Brotherhood a few moments ago. Time for something different...

Ugh... Mirror's Edge is making me hate games.

EDIT:
Just watched a Youtube of that section... it's possible I missed or forgot the thingy where they tell you how to slow time.

Not only have I saved the world from nuclear annihilation, I've actually cleared April's pile. Beat Call of Duty 4.

Your avatar is rather appropriate.

DoWII: Chaos Rising goes down. I think I'd OD'd a little on DoWII by the end, I was feeling nostalgic for Starcraft 2, but it was a good time.

Thanks to the level skip, I got past mission 5's jump and moved on to complete Interstate '76. More impressions when I've had some sleep.

Dead Space got a whole two levels of play this month. At this rate, I should finish it in October...

Boooooo. Where are you at? Looking back in this thread, you were on chapter 3, which puts you through the end of 4, so you're saying you got past the asteroid field? You should totally be able to get through it in the next few days.

To be fair, the first one is out of new tricks at this point, you have seen most of what it offers.

I'm on the deck about to get the defense system online for the asteroid field. I was apparently half-way into three when I picked it back up, so I finished 3 and 4.

Done with RE... nice little nostalgic rump. I actually got one done again! Maybe I'll be able to finish Mother 3 before the month's gone?

I'm gonna go ahead and declare RE 4 and likely carry it into next month's pile.

LOL must've been a freudian slip or something... :p

It gave me a chuckle.

I wish there were something in Amnesia rather than just the pure physical manifestation of dread. There are parts of that game that should be tried in the Hague.

I would call Penumbra fun in parts. Amnesia just wants to skull f*ck me.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is done!
100% Riddler stuff, 0% challenges. I'll probably do those when I feel like playing the game again.

In light of the upcoming release of Witcher 2 I'll be doing a replay of the first one to get the save file ready for transfer. Because that doesn't qualify for the pile, put me also down for Age of Wonders 2 - I've been playing it during last month when I was taking a break from shorter games.

Better try it while combat is still fresh. All but the final 2-3 "extreme" challenges are pretty easy, but those can take a while.

So apparently I'm better at not declaring games and then working them to completion -- I'm done with the main, original relase story missions in Borderlands. I'm still going to play through the DLC, as I bought each pack as it came out, but the last seven-to-nine hours went down in flames this weekend. I had a blast playing single player, so I'll have to bug some people about some co-op this summer -- particularly for the Underdome.

I have abandoned Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom.

Bad controls, boring story (imo) and uninteresting gameplay kept me away from the Xbox for 2 weeks as I could not "move on" whilst it sat in the DVD tray unfinished. I have severed that by trading it in.

Moving on to Vanquish (if that counts) although I doubt I will finish it this month!

So close to finishing Donkey Kong Country Returns, but my schedule for the next few days in preparation of going out of town for a jetski freeride (I still have to put the ski back together) might not permit it as I took over an hour to get through 3 stages last night and I still have 3 stages and the world 8 boss to go. My guess is it will be done Sunday night if I have any energy (not likely) or Monday, putting it into May either way. That is, unless the parts don't show up tonight. Then who knows.

So DKCR is done. I had some time tonight due to some rescheduling. I don't believe I've ever died so many times in one world of a game before. It took 3 sittings and over 120 (probably more like 150) lives to get through. I started the night with 70 lives, and ended the final boss, which was 2 stages + the boss stage with 20, and that's including getting more lives along the way. Man, I think I need to try that game when I'm not as tired and worn out.

I think I already have a good idea what's going on next month's pile list.

Excruciatingly close to 100%ing Super Scribblenauts..... I'm hoping that I can maintain my momentum for the last world and the two bonus sections.

I finally finished Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core after 46 hours. It wasn't a bad game but got pretty repetitive. I did several of the side missions and found myself very over-leveled for the endgame. The final boss took less than three minutes. Oh well, it helped fill out part of the FFVII story gaps and muddled other parts of that story.

Whew, just finished in April. Now...what to tackle next? I'm going to focus on Uncharted 2 and Chrono Trigger (DS) for May.
