Well, I think it's just admins, but the command is sm_votealltalk if you want to give it a try.

Problem is, you can vote alltalk on, but the plugin for end of round/low server pop alltalk forces alltalk off after you turn it on the second someone new joins the server, and there is a 30-second time limit between allowed votes, so vote spams can't happen. So, everyone votes alltalk on, which takes about 30 seconds by itself to finish the vote, it's turned on, someone joins the server, and you're locked out from turning it on again for another 50 seconds, because of the time you have to wait to start a vote + the time it takes to vote. I was tossing up alltalk votes as often as humanly possible last night. It just wasn't enough. And admins are blocked from the sm_cvar command which I could've used to force alltalk on without a vote, and even after the plugin would repeatedly shut it off.

Yes, that was a bit annoying last night. Plus, even on a normal night, while the server is filling, it's a bit of a pain to have it always turn off when someone joins. Still, not my server, so whatever....

Yeah, the alltalk mod would be fine if it deferred to direct admin commands, but it doesn't. It will always respond to the player threshold.

Farming aside, sometimes it's fun to have alltalk on for a round, especially when the server is still filling up. That particular mod can be pretty infuriating.

Yeah, I remember hearing complaints about it well before this update.

Harvest was fun anyway...half the people farming for stuff that required cooperation, the other half blowing stuff up (including the other farmers)....delightfully chaotic. I was able to work on my Staats Ninja blowing someone up with a mid-air sticky skill.

I can try to disable the player threshold or adjust the threshold to 12 or more. People like all talk so I'm reluctant to get rid of it. For now I set the threshold to 14. Another thing for admins to try is the command:
satm_threshold_enabled "0"

That should disable to threshold but I've had trouble with it in the past.

The command for adjusting the threshold is:
satm_player_threshold "14"

Getting rid of the threshold plugin won't eliminate alltalk altogether... Jake never had the threshold on the old Stan's, but you could still vote to turn on alltalk. You can also vote to turn it off. That's part of Sourcemod. I think the admins can handle it on the Private, just, say have a policy of, if someone asks for alltalk off, throw up a vote immediately. I don't think the alltalk threshold plugin needs to babysit things.

I believe the satm_XXX commands can only be used by you, Homer.

I turned off the player threshold but left the round start/end stuff.

It looks like that has made it so alltalk turns off no matter what now when someone joins, even if one person joins and there are 2 people. This is worse.

I disabled the mod. There are some other mods for alltalk that I'm going to look at.

Sounds like we'll be starting with a new map list on the private - ones I'd like to see carry over:

I'm sure other folks will have some good suggestions of new maps to try out

I know I'm a tf2 noob, but I played some map that was a CTF map on two symmetrical gigantic flying ships. It was connected on one end by a bridge.

I don't know how popular that was, but it was a lot more fun than the usual ctffort

Going by what custom maps the community actually plays on, the ones that have a chance of winning a vote, these are the all the custom maps I think we should keep:

The final version of Swift, as Rebel noted, is "swiftwater". I like Rebel's list, with the exception of desertfortress, which I'm just not a huge fan of—too many stalemates. I'd also add "glacier", which is really enjoyable, IMO.

I asked this in the main thread but never got any hits, so I'll ask it here (probably a more appropriate place, anyway): is there a way, or a mod, to get custom maps to come up for vote more often? The last 3-4 times I've been on the private, I think we've played a total of one custom map.

I'm not a big fan of Desperados or pl_waste myself, I tried to make a general list of what is popular on the server.

Minarchist, you must have missed it, but custom maps aren't coming up for most of the voting options. It is a known problem, Evilhomer is working on it.

Yeah, I saw Homer's post in the main thread right after I posted that...this is why I can't have nice things, I guess.

Chaos stalements a lot more often than Desert Fortress (takes 1 demo to really lock it down). I think one round of each is each in a rotation.

Convoy I think. It's a sniperfest. Almost no cover if we're thinking of the same map.

A couple of notes. I will post a survey for people to vote on maps. If you don't see the map listed below let me know so I can add it. If possible include a link to the map.

Stock maps will stay but I'd like to start with fewer maps. We've got a ton right now and it is difficult keeping them all updated.

I don't know about this Nightmare fellow, but I have on good authority that tboon wants to play Desert Fortress nightly. Also, boogle is a big fan as well.

Isn't Ashford that super bland payload map?

What was the hybrid ctf/cp map? You can only cap the CPs while holding the intel. It took a little getting used to, but I really liked it.
