GWJ2STAR 2.0 - Off-Season

Ready.

I really liked the sliders aside from the blocking bit. I bet moving the human run blocking to 40 will help a lot. I played a 1 loss CMU team midway through the season...they should give NIU trouble, and they did. It is fun to have to figure out which strategies are going to work when things are breaking down and not working.

Aside from the DLinemen in my backfield, their QB went all robo-QB on me, but there may be no way of fixing that.

I'm reading all the comments now, and have some thoughts as well.

I agree with changing the sliders to attempt to influence realism, but also agree that the most realistic/intense setting we can create is with the human games.

If there were 10 users in a Pac-10 only league, I think we'd have a real top-to-bottom fight to earn a BCS bid(but it might take forever to get a season in if people weren't always available at the same times).

For me, I want the computer AI to be really hard, but not "cheating," which is hard to do. I enjoyed the last season, because it was my first online, but was never really worried about losing a game (which isn't terribly fun) and I sometimes tried to not score a TD (dive, dive, dive) because I knew my 3rd WR would be wide open on a streak.

I hope these sliders produce more realism, and this can perhaps be a test run for next season and we can create leagues that cater towards all our needs.

I really hope some of us band together to make a "Rivalry" dynasty with realistic sliders next for the '12 game, I think that would be awesome.

I actually like that we're playing a limited number of human v human games in this league, as we are able to keep rolling at a good pace. I don't think we should go overboard in this league in that regard. I also really liked the sliders save for those few bits I mentioned, but I suspect in hearing from Jayhawker that upping the run blocking a bit should help.

I think it should be VERY difficult for any of our teams to go undefeated in a given year.

EDIT: Also, it appears I'm holding us up. I'll try to get on before I go to bed tonight to deal with redshirts.

I agree with that part too Sloth, I like having a lot games to look forward to. I'm stoked to play Cincy

For this game and this format I prefer playing CPU opponents as well. However, I prefer to not pretend like I can make the AI as good as a human. That's all.

We'll definitely not have a human vs CPU game be as fun as human vs human. I've enjoyed this league because I get at least 1 human game per year and wouldn't mind making it at least 2(possibly three)

I had the Duke QB go a little robo on me as well. I think some of it has to do with just having to call and play better defense. Do you think it is worth looking at the User Pass Coverage?

Increase the AI kicking ability and reduce ours slightly. Maybe decrease the AI run defense by 10-15. I'll double check my offline dynasty sliders for the passing accuracy.

I actually found the run defense was good. In fact, with the human blocking up at 40 it was perhaps a bit too easy, but at 30 was maybe not what we wanted given some of the feedback. I'd vote for 35 or 40 on human blocking and keeping the run defense where it is.

That passing accuracy thing may just be something we have to live with from the CPU. It'd be nice if the game would see 90% accuracy and make their WRs drop at least ONE pass!

I agree on the change in kicking ability. Winning games just because the CPU can't kick 25 yard FGs sucks.

Or make PATs. I won a game in our first season because the AI biffed 4 PAT attempts.

I am hesitant to make changes to the kickers because the issue does not seem to be sliders, but instead the gme just doesn't produce enough decent kickers. So each year more and more teams have total turds for kickers.

But if you pump up the sliders to account for it, teams with decent kickers will be way to good.

I did make some changes that I hope will tame the CPU passing game, and it seems to have worked pretty well. I also bumped the USER QB up to 30. I think 10, and then 20 in testing, could result in some brutal games. I also reduced the CPU Pass coverage a notch.

Changes in bold below. Also, I turned Icing the kicker off. It was off already, but now it shows in the list.

I have now advanced to the start of the season.

I would suggest to everyone to spend a little time in Practice to get a feel for the settings.

Sliders can be adjusted as we go, so feel free to suggest any changes that you thin might help.
