if and when I get it, xbox =)
Always nice to hear the game you pre-ordered turned out great.
360 or PS3?
PS3 here.
Any particular reason for the PS3, cyrax? You too, OilyP
360.
Kratos.
Should we consider editing the file a bit, move earlier releases to the left, keeping older releases in scrollable territory.
I'm going 360 because I already have 2 fightsticks and a fightpad for the system. Also 4 normal controllers. Kratos is nice and all but I would need to buy 2 more 6axis to have 4 players on ps3 unless I made people play with Rock Band instruments.
Which actually sounds pretty funny.
I only have a PS3. I think that's a good reason.
Thank you for your input, everyone.
Gonna go with the PS3 for the tap, tap d-pad. No fight sticks in my house and I don't want to roll the dice on my Box d-pads being good enough to make for a competent experience after feeling burned by Ultimate MK on XBLA (cheap AI aside).
^^^ Bwahaha! That's awesome.
As much as I would enjoy playing Kratos (he's just too well suited for Mortal Kombat), I'm 99% sure I'll go with 360. Arcade stick and larger friends list seal the deal.
EDIT: Although, user comments are saying that the 360 version suffers from frame rate issues, freezing issues (!!), and generally poorer visuals. Can anybody confirm? Is this significant, or just another Darksiders?
I had Prime's free two-day shipping, but it's at my doorstep now. <3 Amazon
If and when, for ps3.
Kratos, and better controller for me. I understand when people say 360 offers better online play, and they have a larger online list of friends, but the way I see it, these types of games were made for local multiplayer. You have to be able to see their faces as you humiliate them over and over again.
360 if I get it. That probably depends on who else gets it and what they say about the lobby.

I'm also curious. Please to enable me on online play?
I think I'll still wait for a significant sale, though. Since I didn't pre-order, I can't imagine I'll find it for much under $55 ATM.

It runs a rock solid 60 fps and looks identical to the PS3 version from what I can see. Sounds like more console war BS to me. It's UE3, there hasn't ever been a UE3 game that ran or looked better on PS3 so I doubt this is the one to buck the trend.
I wasn't aware it was UE3, so I agree, just more console war flaming. Considering my office is going to get a copy for PS3, I'll definitely go with 360 for my home copy.
The Story mode is great although they could get up to modern times maybe and allow you to skip the cut scenes. That said, retrying a fight is painless with almost no load time.
For any non-arcade stick owners, MK plays fine on the 360's D-pad. I actually prefer it to using the stick in this case.
No 360 so the PS3 for me.

So far, MK > Portal 2. I expect the unexpected from Valve, and up to Chapter 6 I'm not seeing their usual genius. Mortal Kombat's story however is a total surprise. Gerstmann wasn't blowing smoke when he said this was the best story mode to every appear in a fighter. The direction, story, VO, animation, on-and-on is great. Johnny Cage as the starting character? Oh no. Oh yes. Perfectly voiced and written.
*squee!*
The fighting's good too if you care about that sort of thing...
Alright, just marathoned the story mode all day. Although this isn't saying a whole lot, but it was the best story mode in any fighting game ever.
Really digging this, they really nailed everything, the look, the controls, the fight mechanics all of it. It's early to make this proclamation, but unless something changes to sour my mood on it, this could be my new favorite fighting game ever.
Highly recommended, especially for folks who are burnt out on Capcoms unforgiving 1/2 frame input focused games as of late. MK is very much a game made for normal people.
I'll admit, I'm still pissed at Capcom over the whole spectator mode BS in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, so while the technical aspects of the fighting aren't the reason, this is still a huge factor in my interest in MK. It's made even better by this not only having proper flipping lobbies, but also having the MST3K style group interactions, which is more kinds of awesome than I can count.
Yeesh, Story Mode can put up a fight. Doesn't take long for them to throw you into 1v2 handicap matches. If you're like me you'll try to cheese your way through these fights with lots of throwing.
The little things counts too. The tutorial seemed pretty well thought out and believe it or not, you can freely customize your button maps instead choosing presets. Radical!

I agree that Story Mode is good but I just tried it online and honestly meh is a good word for it though the modes it has are good plus I do want to play some KOTH, I don't think I will be playing this much after doing the single player stuff which there is lot's of it but I feel the fighting system is one of the weakest things about the game.
If your looking for a good fighting game go with MVC3 if your looking for a really good singleplayer experience play MK.
I ended up buying the 360 version. My wife is a big fan of Mortal Kombat from years ago and wanted the kollector's edition when she saw it. I haven't tried it yet, played a bit of Portal 2 last night.
I grabbed a copy of the 360 version on Amazon. I have no idea when I'll have time to play it, but there's that.
PS3 fo me. A fighting game buddy only has PS3, so I took mercy on him.
I just found out that my girlfriend ordered the 360 version and we should have it Thursday. I'm not sure If I will be venturing into online multi-player but will be keeping an eye on this thread for tips.
I have never played a fighting game for any reason other than to play against people or to practice at home to get better at playing against people. The story mode is merely a diversion so I don't really care about story mode. It is nice that they have a good story mode, though.
I feel that MvC 3 was a waste of money for me since there's no good way to play against a bunch of friends online. Consequently, I have put almost no time into the game. In fact, my 7 year old son has played it significantly more than I have despite his being addicted to Lego Star Wars 3. Actually, I've played more LSW3 than MvC 3.
