Good job they aren't trying to buy success.

Wayne Bridge to Liverpool rumours are a little disappointing since I was hoping that the tabloid rumour of £20 million for Enrique and Jonas would be true. I don't rate Jonas and Enrique can't be worth much more than $7 million since he only has one year on his contract. Granted, I would need to have faith that Ashley & co. would re-invest the fee but I'm not as cynical as supporters who actually live in Newcastle and have followed the club for more than a few years.

Wickham's deal to Sunderland is supposed to be complete; £8 million possibly rising to £12 million through incentives and clauses. Not a bad move for him as he should get fairly regular playing time and be able to move on to a bigger club if a few years if he progresses as a footballer.

So, anyone play the FIFA console game? Any good? I haven't really played a video game about il calcio since...I don't know, possibly Atari 2600.

Well dave I think you've been calling the wrong owner a money launderer.

Pred I was wondering if you had any thoughts on where you would like to see Dempsey go to get Champions League experience. I just don't really see him fitting in with any of the big 4/5 in England.

Just means there are two of them

I don't think any of them have space for him, although of the teams, I think Chelsea would be the best fit to be honest (United's clearly out since he and Rio would get into a deadly rap beef).

Speaking of Fulham.....

Y'know, I don't mind our chairman being insane, they all are, I just wish he could be insane quieter.

Quieter being a relative term, of course.

Haven't played FIFA 11, but the series generally falls under the description of "Arcadey with Simulation aspects", although that could describe much of EA's sport's output. I'll risk UC's wrath here and say that, from what i've seen/read, over the last two years it's been better than PES though. There's a separate thread for such discussion though.

First game of the 2011/12 season tonight for Fulham, against NSI Runavik in the Euro League.

New thread ?

Actually, I'd have to agree. And FIFA 11 on PC is finally (almost) the same game as on consoles. I don't have time for it, though, so I've only played couple of dozen games over few months, mostly at parties.
Couple of days ago, though, I was thinking about how superior PES 6 feels to everything else I've played since. It's really a prime example of how improving technology doesn't necessary mean better gameplay.

Separate thread! (Complete with fact sheet about NSI Runavik!)

I think I've just seen the worst referees decision in history. In The Australia v Equatorial Guinea match at the Women's World Cup, the EQ defender catches the ball, looks at the ref then gets embarrassed and drops the ball, all inside the 6 yard box without a whistle.

Also - apparently there is a Women's World Cup. Who knew?

Impressive, wasn't it? All I can think is the ref's brain refused to accept such a blatant hand ball and just thought, "must be a dead ball".

Definitely worst refereeing decision, or lack thereof, ever.

(DT points maq towards 2011/12 thread)

Ok, you can bring your green hoodie dinosaur with the acid burnout expression, then.

There is a new thread. Oh.
