*Release* Rift Catch-All - if it isnt for any of the other threads - it goes here

I am wondering if we have a plan in place for choosing a server or if we should start discussing it. I remember in the DCUO thread we had something like "the PvE server starting with the earliest letter alphabetically"

That sounds good to me as well, I will be at my computer and ready to go!

If they don't post a list prior to launch that sounds like a good plan.

NDA at this point is probably primarily to protect the ...

... and the .... testing some of us are working on.

Yes, there is still a very valid reason for the NDA.
Some things even the "deep beta" isn't privy to.

Wife and I rented this movie this weekend. Hadn't seen it in a while. Great movie.

Wait, are you saying Chuck Norris is in this game?

I guess we've already lost.

By the way, I have some characters on Faeblight, but it sounds like most people are on Shatterbone. So I'll post again after I've created a char on there.

EDIT Oh hell, here goes anyways

Post your name - Yoyoson, Logen, or Lyndia
What Faction you vote for - Defiant
Proposed name of the Guild -
Class interested in playing - Tank
Crafting preferences (if any) - Mining, blacksmithy
Preferred times of play along with time zone - after 9, EST
Type of shard, ie PvE or PvP - PvE

In the beta and what shard - Yup, in beta. Currently only on Faeblight.

I have not seen Chuck Norris in game. Nor did I mean to imply any relation to Chuck Norris, real or imagined.

10 sp to the guy who either gets Chucknorris as a toon name or spots it with screen shot in the wild.

Edit - Best name seen to date - Pitydafool

My wife bought me a copy for Valentine's day! Along with Blazblue and Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Am I a lucky guy or what?

Does anyone know if Shatterbone will be a live server?

Hey guys, I am trying to coordinate with another team of players to make sure both groups land on the same server at launch.

Their liaison and I were discussing first server alphabetically, and he has some valid concerns with choosing the first one...

Namely how overcrowded the starter zones get and the massive competition for spawns and finishing quests on a heavily crowded server. He's a statistician of sorts, and they recommend picking a server 5th from last alphabetically.

Once the server list is out, we should be fine to coordinate, they would just prefer not the first by alpha since it will very likely be the most slammed.

Thoughts?

I would like to get us all together if possible.

But what if there is only 5 servers, and the 5th from last is actually the first? A-ha!?!

Yah i would not suggest first alpha. Unless we are doing some sort of reverse psychology thing where we think no one will pick the first alphabetically but everyone thinks everyone else will pick it.

5th from last sounds good to me.

Wow, is that an arbitrary choice or one based on human psychology?

What if the 5th from last is not a type of server we want to play on? (RP, PvE, PvP)

5th from bottom factoring in only pve names ... and it was just an arbitrary suggestion.

As said, once the list is published, we can firm up the name.

We should take the square root of total server count and multiply that by six, then add that number to the first, and that's the server we get.

...to the oiuja board!

Let's keep it simple and use the last digit of Pi, that number of servers up from the bottom.

I'm down with the idea of choosing 5th from the last PVE alphabetically.

Or we can be on vent when we are sitting there waiting for the servers to launch...lol cause i will be there...stalking them.

Shatterbone if it is available at launch. Otherwise, we will go with the 5th PvE server from the top. Hopefully, they will list servers, but I suspect they will be the same as beta so Shatterbone should be there.

I'm with Fars!

Hmmm... 42?

We need to use the Hash Sums of each of the server names to help us decide!

I dunno if I'll be playing with the GWJ crew. I'll likely roll a toon for Defiant, but my main will likely be Guardian. I've noticed the Guardian side is way less populated.

I don't have a real desire either way, but most prefer Defiant, so it is Defiant by majority. Join the GWJ guild when playing your Defiant - love to have you.

10sp to you sir next time I see you. Creative use of pet naming, forgot about that.

Nah. I wouldn't do that to you - just hang onto it or put it towards the guild hopper.

I have seen quite a few people express interest in playing guardian. Do we have anyone interested in starting a guild there? The GWJ WOW crowd has guilds on both sides so why not in this game as well. Just a humble suggestion.

I don't think anyone has an issue with that. Problem is that with the small GWJ player base it shrinks the pool of guilds available for both sides. People should play where they like because the purpose is fun, but it will reduce the goodjers available on either side which is why we went with a majority vote for sides. Personally I don't really have a strong feeling either way, but early on the feeling was strongly Defiant.

Fair enough. I want to play defiant anyhow. I just wanted to throw out the suggestion.
