Ah, just got home:

Position in queue 543, 2hr+ queue

I'm sure that will drop down more quickly BUT... :(

Don't pay any attention to the times I have gone from 3 mins back to over an hour in a 5 min span lol. The magic number is all you have to worry about :).

Apparently they currently have over 1 million registered accounts for RIFT =)

Yeah but not all those are in the head start...

Ugh.............

Despite what it said my 2.5 HR queue for #600 took about 45mins. Rock solid one I was in.

That must have been with people logging out, now everyone wants to play! I'm currently down to 183 after 1.5 hours hehe

That's 1 million trion accounts, I'm sure, not Rift subscribers. Although the queue and the number of players (4 for every quest mob!) it feels like a million.

3 hour queue sort of dissuaded me from making a guy on shaterbone at least for now any way.

#437

1h 31m

edit: #169 21m

This is actually reassuring to me. Better full than empty, WAR was depressingly empty back when I was playing it, it'll be nice to see people around the place... plus I'm likely to be playing at the servers off-peak times and might miss most the crowd.

We are hoping the queues go away soon, the guild is setup on Shatterbone but the crowds can be a tad frustrating.

saw this in the RIFT forums and thought it would be good for new people:

It seams alot of people aren't understanding how public groups work, there used to how groups and raids worked in other games, and with rift being so different I see it causing alot of issues that could easily be resolved. I think details on how the public group works should be explained in the tutorial tips that pop up when your new.

Here's what I have discovered so far;

What people think:

1. People think by joining your group you have to share quest item drops, so they get less if someone joins
2. people think when it turns into a raid, quest monsters don't count or quest items don't drop.(like other MMOs)
3. People think public groups are just for rifts, not questing.
4. you get less XP for being in a group or raid.

What is true about public groups:

1. quest items and credit for quest mobs count whether your in a party or a raid from the public group feature.
2. if a quest item drops, it drops for all that are in the party and are on that quest. you don't :Share" quest loot like other MMOs
3. If someones killing a named mob for a quest and you join halfway through, you BOTH get credit and don't have to wait for re-spawn! (as long as you do damage to the mob)
4. if you don't want people to randomly join, set yourself to private
5. you can join someone killing a mob you need by clicking the button on the top of there target frame.
6. there no point to 15 people waiting for the same mob to spawn when you can ALL get credit!
8. you get BONUS XP for being in a group, leaving you with more XP than if you killed the mob solo.
9. there is no negative effects to having someone join your public group, that's why this feature is turned "on" automatically. Yeah if a green or epic item drops you all have to roll on it, but sitting there in a zone waiting for re-spawns for 10-15 min and fighting for the "chance" to get credit for it lowers the chance of you getting any green or better items period, the more you kill, the more stuff drops. The more you sit, the less stuff drops and the slower you level and get to BETTER loot. Simple logic.

excellent! most of that i know now, but its nice to have that cleared up for real.

Posting in this thread too just in case - why is Shatterbone not showing up in my list of servers to pick? Anyone know what I can do to get in queue?

I had to scroll a ways down to find it because it has a high population. That could be your problem.

For some reason it was taking me to the European servers, even though I select North America each time before the game starts. I had to change it in the settings before login again and it finally displayed correctly.

I had that happen yesterday, think it must be a small bug.

Is anyone else getting a bug where if they quit, the next time they log in without restarting their computer the graphics are messed up? It clears up once I restart but it is kind of annoying. This does not apply to logouts just quits.

Is anyone else getting bent over in the Codex matches? Every one I seem to join our side just gets handled. I've played about 15 of them now and won exactly one. By a score of 1000 to 976. I don't know what it is or what's going on that we're so absolutely terrible. I mean, other than the usual two or three sabs that drop all their little nasties on me and nearly one shot me. You'd think that I would be able to see these 800 pt bombs attached to me.

Charges show up as debuffs on the screen. They are cleansed by any number of cleric abilities.

CLerics? What are those creatures?

In another note, my DM group got lucky that the servers went down just as we killed the last guy. It was close, close, close.

These ten minute warnings before dropping the server have got to stop. This isn't alpha or beta where you can do whatever you want to the servers. Hello, paying customers online now, I know its new but adapt.

Minimum 30 minute warning, to allow dungeon groups to finish. I ended up halfway through IT with an amazing group. Gonna get pug from hell when I go back in, I just know it.

So defiant really are the new alliance when it comes to pvp. I tallied up my win/loss yesterday while leveling in Warfronts and the total was 3-25.

I was surprised as the Defiants really seemed more like the Horde race.

sucks so far....finished downloading from steam, tried to register account....go to click on the email to verify account...site is down for maintenance...try again later....it's now later and it's still down.

I click on the accounts buttom from the launcher and it has a notice that the site is going down from Maintenance on Feb 22nd for launch prep....well i ASSUME that's an old message but since i never paid attention to this game tilll today i dunno what the hell is going on....

I've never not been able to sign up for a MMO i just bought before:(

If it is the Codex, you want to make sure your team holds the Codex and the Telescope. Forget the other two. IF you just hold those, you win. Its actually pretty simple. When you have morons run off to assault the vault is when you start to lose the map. My record was terrible too until I started berating people about taking off and trying to hold the vault when the two or three chumps down there insisted that it was important, even after we started losing our own flag and the codex.

Is there still a long wait time at log in? I really, really want to pick this game up but I'm trying to hold off until I've had my fill of Dragon Age 2 since it drops next week. Hearing tales of long wait times and overcrowded starting zones would make the waiting easier for me.

queue times seem much better now. Prime time is still bad but any other time of day I have seen no queue at all the last couple of days.

they added 20 something new servers for launch so it filtered a lot of the new folks that way. While there have been q times on our server a couple of nights its only been at prime time. Get on a little earlier or later and you can zip right in.

You guys aren't helping.

The longest the wait time got last night on our server was apparently ~45 minutes at around 8-9 PM EST. This was on launch day, so I would guess this weekend would also be tough but after that it will definitely dwindle down.
