*Release* Rift Rogue Discussion

I haven't decided between my warrior or my rogue as my main, but if I were to make a tank rogue build, it would look something like this:

http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M...

Whatever you do, don't pick 3 starting souls without a ranged attack! I went Rift/Assassin/Bladedancer. It was a... poor choice in the tabtarget fest that was the noob areas.

unforeseen benefits of playing a saboteur: since your primary attacks cannot miss or be dodged, your earned contribution points for rifts and invasions almost always get you in the top loot tier.

Bladedancer / Assassin / Nightstalker. -- Poison / Dex boost. Fiery Spike pull 2 mobs, Sidesteps, Twin Strike to 5CP (unless Reprisal), Blazing Strike - lulz.

I just made that build this morning for my 3rd alt.

I just picked this up on Steam. Are any of you guys playing Guardians or is everyone Defiant?

Defiant on Shatterbone. Post in guild thread if you are joining up.

I rolled a Marksman/Bard/Bladedancer combo and love it so far. The damage output from the MM is great and I didn't want to play another pet class so formulated this one.

Bard/Ranger/riftblade for me. Awesome.

My rogue went Riftblade/Assassin/Marksman. The thinking was that Riftblade/Assassin would have a similar skill set and feed off of each other and Marksman would be an alternative ranged damage when it's more beneficial not to be toe to toe with the foe (teeheehee, made myself giggle). I find that in the early levels Riftblade and Assassin have too much overlap. So I'm actually just using one set of skills. But, the really cool thing is that their stealth stuns are not mutually exclusive!!! This build can stun 2 targets, and one of the stuns is ranged!

So far it's working out pretty well. Between ranged damage with a bow, Marksman finishers for long range, Riftblade finisher for mid range and Assassin finisher for melee range, this is working out superbly. I have some amount of survivability. I've had about 50% success rate running away from fights when they turned out badly. With Apothecary this ratio is increasing by the hour. Eventually I'm hoping to have the Vanish (or whatever its name is, that lets you go invisible during a fight. I figure that would be great skill for shedding aggro and getting out of fights.

Marksman also get a knockback I believe so you can use that in melee if you prefer to sling arrows rather than slash with knives.

I know I am becomming a broken record but I love the 6-8 point talent for the assassin that adds another 100% weapon damage on crits over 6 seconds and can stack a few times.

ya i gave up on nightblade... it was jsut too much overlap with assassin.

I have however stacked up high on the bladedancer side and i'm very impressed.

Yeah, I have a Bladedance/assassin/riftblade. I really like how well bladedancer and assassin seem to work together and then I get some survivability from Riftblade.

my soloing build is this. http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...

I used to sub assassin for the poison, but since I got the second nightstalker weapon enhancement, no more room for the poison. I use the 13 in riftblade for healing so I can chain mobs together; I usually open with that frost bolt, pile on the fire bolts then finish when they close into melee. The one phase shift I have is really nice for running away or getting the tap, too!

Love my Bard/Ranger/Riftstalker. Bard gives great utility and survivability and augments pet. Ranger gives me good ranged DPS and Riftstalker gives me good melee with with a great armor boost. Soloing like mad and dungeon running no problem.

I'm playing on Harrow PVP-RP server. I was thinking about going MM/Assasin something like this...

What do you think?

Here is the build I plan on using. Any thoughts?

I am not playing at launch but I spent enough time in Alpha to declare that Assassin/Bladedancer/Nightblade is a very capable solo build, with it you get very good single target DPS, perma stealth and 2! mezzes. You should have no problem picking the exact fights you want with this build.

I'm rocking the BD/MM/RS I posted earlier. It is a sweet PvE build and does just fine in PvP.

I swapped out MM from my build for Bard with a focus of going full rogue tank with self heals. With the idea of RS for armor & endurance buffs, BD for dodge and some DPS & Bard for the health boost, all around buffs and some heals. Made a slight mistake that I didn't pump in enough points to get the healing motif.

Anyway it's working pretty good I think - able to take on 3 even cons and survive with 20-30% health left.
I will say that I miss my MM thou, killing a pull even before it reaches you is quite satisfying. And the sounds of the guns are awesome; the finishers reverberate like thunder.

With my bard/range/Riftstalker I can easily solo 2-3 mobs that are 2 levels above me. The bard AoE and self heal through cadence and the heal song is key.

Grab your nerf-forks and nerf-torches... we got ourselves a linching!

For PvE, I'm playing a MM/Hunter/Bard and she's working out nicely. She gets owned in PvP if she is caught...so anyone have any good PvP builds?

for range pvp i use mm primarily and 0 points in sabo for teh slow trap.

They already considerably nerfed the bard's group regen, you get at 12, before launch.

I am running with a nightblade/rift/assassin right now. Its pretty darn fun. I have 8 in assassin for the 2 poisons and the +100% damage over 6 seconds on melee crits. I have 10 or 12 in nightblade for the spammable aoe melee attack. Im eventually going to want to get to 20 for the next weapon proc. The rest will go into riftstalker.

I have a sab/bard that owns in both pve and pvp. You can spec into sab to reduce the cooldown on your charges, and combined with the 20pt concussive bomb, you can stun-lock opponents. I suspect this will get nerfed eventually, but at the moment it's very useful in the Black Garden warfront.

Level 20, doing Bard (10) / Riftstalker (16) / Sab (0). PvE or PvP, it rocks. Unless my team is hanging waaay back, I can normally run in tossing charges at the Fang Carrier (timing it so the charges detonate right after the Fang's damage ticks), kill the FC and (probably) pick the fang up. Then I run away, dropping an adhesive bomb and shadow shifting - that little blink spell comes in handy.

Without support (i.e. the team on _our_ side of the center, plinking away), no one can run into the focus fire AND get out. I can often at least get in and kill the fang carrier.

And Cadence specced for healing is beastly. Strum once, strum twice, watch the caster panic and run and fire off a Coda of Wrath... That's often a kill right there, while tossing out a lot of healing. Comes in handy in rift fights too.

Looking at my attacks, a lot of them are 'weapon damage + X'. While I really haven't seen any dex 2handers, would it be worth it to use a 2hander anyway?

Edit: hhmm, are there 2handers that rogues can use?

How does this work? I was trying to get to riftstalker to 13 for the skill that gives you healing when you kill mobs with leftover combo points, but won't help when I'm up against some of the elite mobs.

I've used that with assassin and they have a poison that does some healing on you when you swing. makes taking elites that much easier now.

With regards to Rift Scavenger, I try to have weak mobs or even critters nearby to heal off. With points in Nightblade, I have an attack that generates 2 combo points. When I'm fighting an elite mob, I'll 2 point an innocent squirrel or something and immediately get about 20% heatlh. I imagine it'd work even better with sabo if you can make it work with an elite-soloing build. Maybe with a 3rd soul... hm...

Also it taks about 21 points in assassin for the talent to do an additional stun for those wanting to do the stun/lock route
