Hm... I think I'll test out how well I can stream TF2.
I have a stream that I set up for the LoL tourny on own3d.tv and it works pretty well for that.
Maybe we could get some streamed/shoutcasted games going on?

Might be useful during normal play just to wait during refresh fortress.

Well I'll test is out a bit tonight I guess.
Help me out here: http://www.own3d.tv/live/10886
give me feedbacks through steam. From watching it myself it seems a bit stuttery in game even though I'm not stuttering...

Props to Fedora for working on this. And it's fun listening to his random comments.

So stuttering is really bad at 1280x720 stream
Lowered to 1024x764 seemed to get a good reaction though (though when I checked it on the laptop it still seemed to stutter pretty bad. Of course that comes with lower quality and makes it harder to see as well. I can't seem to figure out how to get the stuttering to stop and am wondering if Xsplit and TF2 don't mix well or if it's me.

If anyone else would like to give it a shot, PM me and I'll give you the info. Maybe we can see what the problem is.

I'm in. My lag has been pretty bad lately though (over 200ms some nights). It's one of the reasons I haven't been around much. My apparent skill varies depending on how bad my lag is. That's my story, anyways.

It's the Gunsniper Inverse Ping Theory. As your ping increases past 200 heading towards 400, you have a harder time playing, but your lag means that when someone tries to backstab/snipe you, you're no longer there.

Just FYI, I should NOT be Over 9000. I just had to pick it because it was my idea. That is all, thank you.

I initially avoided this thread, because I'm going to be busy pretty much every weekend from now until the end of February. But I remember playing last year wasn't a huge time commitment, and many of the matches were on weekdays, which would probably work ok for me. So yeah, consider me interested in participating this year.

Lies!

I tried to pick Over 10000 but it rolled me over to beginner.

You missed by 13767.

Cursed int overflow!

I totally qualify as expert on some occasions, and beginner in others. I'm gonna say its 'dynamics' that cause it.

Looking forward to seeing the most epic tf2 tourney ever.

What the hey. I think I'll give this a go. I picked intermediate skill, even though I've been having some good runs on occasion, lately.

Any word on when we will get out team assignments so we can all start dividing out GWJ tags into the correct groupings

Just curious, not hurrying.

Well said, sir. Well said.

You guys do bring up an interesting point though. I think we had more time between team selection and first games, so I might change the time table a bit. I was really just extending the time to give more people the opportunity to join up, but I may just shoot for 6 teams, and start deciding captains this week.

EDIT: Don't forget to check the first post and sign up in the spreadsheet! I see a couple people who have said they are interested, but I do not see their names anywhere in the delightful spreadsheet Erikthered made.

Yeah you started Wed the 5th. I'd say Wed the 19th is a good cut off date, that's a full 2 weeks. And if we have a number not divisible by 6, which is quite likely, then a team or 3 will end up short a man and can fill in with extra signups up until the first match maybe?

Right now we have enough people so that we can have 6 teams with 13 people per team. I would rather have at least one more per team, so we have a better chance of getting 12 per team per match. These are still good numbers, so I think I will just let things start going instead of holding out for more.

I will be changing the first post soon to reflect these changes, and the cut-off date will be Friday, January 21, with the draft happening that weekend, or the following monday. This means I will be needed captains. What I am looking for is people who play regularly enough to know most of the people here, so they can have a good grasp of what each person can and cannot do. This will help best ensure a fair division of talent.

The captain WILL NOT be responsible for organizing the team past the draft, as long as another member of the team is willing to do step up. This way those who are too busy for the full organizing can still participate in the initial draft. If you are willing to be a captain please contact me via PM.

Psych is a hobo.

Just FYI.

Sir that is a filthy lie! He is King of the Hobos!

This all sounds good to me. I think as a community we are all capable of recognizing stacked teams and adjusting them. I look forward to playing another tourney

If it is somehow stacked (like severely stacked) would people be open to trading players to balance it out?

After a round is done of course.

Yea I mentioned this already. We need to be able to trade players, like a fantasy team. Or trade players for hattes, that would work too.

See, now we're just getting into trading people like property. Bonded servitude I say! I owe my captain 500 frags and 20 cart pushes or three hats before I earn my freedom.

I want a no-trade clause in my contract! And an option year! Or no flaming peoples backsides for you!

I want a 'Le Party Phantom' as a signing bonus.

I want more people to volunteer for captaincy. Or I make more threats of Castle.
