2011 Team Fortress 2 Tournament, this time with ACTUAL medals!

I think there's a counter to everything. Getting everyone together to counter that strategy is tougher than the actual act. I don't mind limits but I don't believe they are necessary.

To set the record straight, your ranking is directly related to what I think about you. This might have to do with game skill, it might not.

Beginner it is for me then?

Fxeni you're definitely expert :P. You're over 9000 with that damn ez button :P.

Oh and I recommend not over-thinking this too much or adding too many rules. It's not like we're pros here or anything. Let's just do what it takes to get teams together and play some TF2!

I suppose that lic=ving in NZ I can't play..

'Eeeeyyyy!

....I should check these forums more often I tend to just pop on the servers whenever there's an announcement. Would love to participate!

Are we going to have round 2 medals just in case Valve actually starts putting them in game?

Added to the spreadsheet.

My work can sometimes make scheduling difficult.

Chose Pyro, Heavy, Medic and Engineer, as those are the classes I'm most comfortable with and have the most playtime.

I was suggesting people (mostly Ruki, but I'd chip in too) chip in some weapons (with a tag to make it customized) or hattes for the winners. Since we'd likely have them already or could easily get them. Rather than sit on the promise of valve allowing the community to just give out medals to whomever.

Yeah I agree with this, let's not get super obsessive about it.

I changed the Welcome message in our Pub server, just curious did you notice it at all? I was hoping some of the new regulars we're getting would check it out =(

I'm definitely down for this.

You should probably log on to our pub server and play for a bit and/or join our Steam groups to see if we're a good fit for you.

Oh I just noticed this, I think animefan420 is muslim kryptonite in TF2, if this is correct then he's a very good player, you'd want him on your team for sure. I invited him to the tourney, he's allright =)

If he's not muslim kryptonite, well in any case I guess checking out the pub before you sign up for realz is a good idea.

Even turtles can be broken with three medics, two demos and a pyro or two (to counter-poof). It's just coordinating things that can get difficult. Trying to convince 2/3 of your team to switch classes for a specific purpose can be somewhat tricky in Individual Effort Fortress 2.

The problem is when you do that, you leave yourself vulnerable to spys/scouts (regarding CTF)

Hey, I am muslim kryptonite in game. Ill be sure to pop in the server every so often. Thanks for getting my back Mex

Hey Erik, how did you solve the kritz sound bug?

No problem man, I see you decided to show your gratitude by dominating me as a sniper tonight Glad to see you joined anyway =)

I'm in! Been ages since I've played much.

This is the wrong thread Mex, and I didn't exactly solve it. If you modify your audio settings like change the number of speakers or sound quality, it will stop the noise from repeating itself without having to leave the server. I expect it will start looping again if you get another kritz though.

I'm not sweating it too much, but my vote would be limiting Heavies and Engies to two. That being said, I agree with cheeba that we shouldn't get bogged down with details too much.

I agree. The objectives is to obtain hattes! We must never lose sight of that.

I did not, I'll be honest lol. I checked it the first few times I came, but just sorta click through now I'll give it a look.

Need more registrants! Looks like we are at 68 right now. I imagine we would need 96 or so to make 8 teams of 12 (could do 10 v 10 with the 2 extra slots for people that can't make it on certain days).

I think there should be 14-15 people to a team. Having 12 means every game will be 9v9 or 8v8 like it was last time, because a few people invariably can't make it to each game.

I don't mind having only 4-6 teams. The play would probably be better too since there's a greater chance that players on each team have played together a lot.

Yeah, I'd be okay with that, as well. Six would still be fine, each team could round-robin each other for five games played, then the top two could have a bye week for the first round of the tournament. As a captain last time it could be extremely frustrating to try and get enough people lined up to field a team, track people down, etc. Not blaming my team, it's just life. Hard to make set time for a video game when the dogs need to go out, kids fed, work done, etc.

Six was the number I was hoping for. That would keep things from dragging out, and it would be nice if we could go 12v12 for each match.

double

I'm in for sure. It's been a long time.

Did they approve the medals I made for the last tourney or are they different?

Sounds good to me.

I've talked with Robin off and on and they approved the medals and put them in game, but never decided on how to give them out to us...

what!?! It's not a hat we win?!? I cry foul!!!

I like how the amount of sparkle diminishes with each medal.
