Anticipating PAX 2011 (West)

Pages

It's coming and here I am, not having created this thread immediately following the last one. So, here it is. Dickwolves-controversy notwithstanding, I'm going. Also, I'm moving to Shoreline by the end of this month, so am looking forward to having an easier commute to-from the event.

So, everyone: What plans are in motion?

When: August 26th, 27th, and 28th

Q-Stone and I have planned to go (he is attending and I'm meeting up for any S&T's). I really wish they had scheduled it for labor day weekend again though, that's thrown quite a crimp in our plans and we may have to fly out separately this year.

I'm there. But you probably figured that. I'll have better notions of what's going on when I get back from PAXEast.

Should put the dates in the OP, doc, so everyone can see what they are (August 26th, 27th, and 28th). And a link to http://prime.paxsite.com/ might be useful.

Bumbershoot this year is from Sept 4th through 6th.

Is there a reason this is in Games & Platforms instead of Everything Else?

Oh doc! The shame!

Anti-dickwolves represent. Booked my vacation and planning to go.

I'm in for the S&T!

I would actually like to go this year and maybe take the train up from Portland to get there.

OOPS - Fixed. Thanks, guys (and gals).

I'm voting early for a Sunday S&T. The biggest street festival in our area is Saturday, and if I get in then the soonest I can fly out is Sunday morning. I also vote that PAX Prime be over labor day next year *grumble*.

No PAX for me this year.

We're opting to do Burning Man instead, which also runs over the Labor Day weekend. Basically, I'm swapping nerds for hippies, and downtown Seattle for the Nevada desert.

So, no party at my house after PAX either, I'm afraid to say. I've got you all loosely pencilled in for 2012 though.

Except PAX isn't labor day weekend this year, sadly.

Definitely plan on attending again this year. Though it not being labor day weekend will cause some rethinking of vacation time to make the travel work. That and I rather enjoyed being in seattle and at Pax for my birthday last year.

Good point - hadn't quite done the math. Nonetheless, I'll be on the road the weekend of PAX.

Just tell us where you hide your spare house key and we'll clean up when we're done.

I'll try to get up there for the S&T.

AW sh*t!
I am very much looking forward to that.

I am too.

I can make no promises, but I am going to attempt the idea that perhaps our family's new home become the possible location for the S&T, since we're moving in at the end of the month. I, too, will be in Shoreline and my wife loves to play host.

The catch is that we don't have much in the way of game systems. We have a Wii. That is it, so any Rock Band-edness will have to require additional equipment. Again: No promises, here. I will attempt to finesse my wife with a backrub and perhaps some soothing music, then casually drop the idea.

I'll let you know as I learn more. Just don't get your hopes up until I make the pitch.

PARTAY AT DOCBADWRENCH'S!!!!! Wooooo!!!!

*ahem*

I would like to attend again this year although I am torn between going and getting a new computer. Last year PAX won out, I've got another month, month.5 to decide, continually a tough decision.

I know my brother and I will be there, he keeps saying he will make an account but never seems to, but him and I will be there for both.

Doc: I can loan out my PS3, no rock band but I can loan it out there at least. I am sure somebody here has the controllers/games so its a start at least.

I have enough Rockband equipment and hardware to harm people, and I'll have it all with me due to lending it to Console Freeplay. Equipment or games should not be a problem if she's willing to be invaded by all of us.

I had such a killer time last year that nothing can stop me from going again this year!

Except by then my son will be 4 months old and I probably won't survive.

Just so you all know, I have not yet asked my wife about this. That's because, by the end of February, we will be moving into our new home. With all of life's stresses, I want things to relax a bit before I spring this idea on her. I have a feeling I can get her to go along (she does like to host things), but I need to finesse my way to a "Yes". (bucka-wow sound)

Seriously. But, once the coast is clear, I'll bug her.

I WILL BE THERE. GAZE LONG UPON MY PROCLAMATION AND WEEP!

I will insist on gaming, and drinking, and another fine S&T.

I'm definitely planning on attending, last year was my first PAX and it was pretty damn awesome.

Don't worry about it - it's not until August. There's time.

Registration is open—or was, the site messed itself up a moment ago. If it comes back, don't sell it out before I get home from work and can buy my ticket.

The site's working again, just ordered my 3 day!
