A serious blow to democracy
Ft. Wayne, Indiana is building a new government center, and asked for votes for a town figure to name the new center after. The people voted, and chose the longest and most distinguished mayor of Ft. Wayne, Indiana to be immortalized with the new government center.
And the town of Ft. Wayne came back and DENIED the voters, and the former mayor (deceased) the honor of having the government center named after him.
This is a severe travesty of justice, and a slap in the face for democracy:
Harry Baals, 4 term mayor of Ft. Wayne, Indiana 1930s - 1950s. Ft. Wayne's longest-serving mayor.
Scratching Harry Baals from government center leaves sore spot
Deputy mayor Malloy recently addressed the Associated Press on Tuesday, February 8, regarding Fort Wayne officials' decision to scratch Harry Baals name from consideration for name of the town's newest government building despite the public's overwhelming soliciting and Baals' runaway lead in an online poll.
