The Darkness II Catch-All

Everyone should have their gift copies by now. If any didn't come through right, let me know. Cheers gents!

I have a code for digital copies of some darkness comics if anyone is interested.

So of everyone playing the single player campaign:

Does this game just pick up where The Darkness left off? Is it a whole new story? What's the dealio?

Yes. I could check a wiki. But it seems easier to avoid spoilers 'round these parts.

The game starts two years after the events of the first.

I started out playing with a 360 controller, but man, this game plays a lot better with keyboard and mouse. I miss the vibration, but being able to snap to headshots and sprint/crouch easier makes the experience much more fluid.

Finished the 360 version...it was a decent run through.. the lack of variety in the enemies and generally mediocre boss fights was the weakest part.. Loved the graphical style and combat ( slicing dudes in half never got old)

Still more like a $29.99 game that $60

I really wanted to get into this game, but something in the demo just feels plain off. It has great characters and back ground but the combat feels really meh. It's also bothersome that if you really want to get the most points you need to use your melee almost exclusively, and that's really boring really quick. Too bad though I was really digging the atmosphere of the game, maybe ill read the comics instead.

Just finished this up and had a blast the whole way through. Great story and ending and some of the best voice acting I've heard in years if not ever. Well worth what I paid for it. If some of my fellow Steam buyers are in, I'd love to get a group together to try the Vendetta mode. Anyone interested?

Spoiler:
Not sure if you see if it you skip credits but stick around for the end of the credits for the setup for the inevitable 3rd game

Yeah, what he said.

Spoiler:
I originally thought the ending was abrupt, then I sat through the credits and was like...whoa.

I really hope this does well enough to get another sequel and by this team.

The Darkness II is on sale on Amazon for $12.49. The code can be activated on Steam.

It's a really excellent game. I paid full price for it on launch and was very satisfied for whatever that's worth. Has a co-op mode too that I'm dying to try with people.

Aaaand sold. $48 on the 360, $13 on the PC.

Really loving my PC these days.

Couldn't resist snapping this up yesterday. Played the opening chapter up until you get to Jackie's house. I really like the graphic style, and I like that they included a lot of things from the first game. Namely, the ability to talk to with characters, the loading screens with Jackie monologuing, and being able to walk around his house and explore. I think I may be playing this for most of the weekend.

Bought this when it first released and just finished it yesterday. I really enjoyed it all the way through. I also liked it better than the first one and that's saying a lot because I really liked the first one. I didn't like the new voice actor for Jackie at first, but by the end he grew on me quite a bit.

I played up through the carnival level this weekend. I'm really enjoying it, though I seem to have trouble at times even on the default difficulty, which makes the combat sometimes seem like a chore. I was worried that the plot would feel unnecessary after the event of the first game, but it seems fairly well done. It's definitely got some comic book silliness going on, but it feels mostly well written and well paced. It does a good job of giving quiet downtime moments interspersed among all the gory action, which most shooters don't seem to understand the value of. I don't know if I'll go back through to do a New Game+, but I'm definitely glad I got it.

I beat it. Felt a little shallow and short, but for what I paid I'm not complaining.

Afterward I reloaded the chapter where you get Johnny and went through all the relics. His narration is great.

Outstanding game. There are some very cool story elements.

Spoiler:
I love the loony bin mind f*ck
and the ending is amazing.

The voice acting is top notch overall but Johnny's voice acting is some of the best game vo ever, particularly the relic descriptions.

Anyone on PC up for some doing the Vendettas missions? I know you can solo them, but it would be fun to play with some people.

Picked this up on sale and just finished it. Quick question for those that have finished:

Spoiler:
In the final assylum scene did any of you pick to stay with Jenny? Just wondering what would have happened as I chose to jump.

I didn't but I did youtube it.

Spoiler:
Jackie dances with Jenny in the asylum to "I only have eyes for you". It looks like he lives happily ever after in his delusionional world.

Just finished this game (I'm always behind the curve). Really enjoyed the story hopping around and the ending. Combat was fun but became pretty rote but the game was fairly short so no big deal.

[spoiler]At the end i actually did not let Jenny go for like 10 mins cause it just felt wrong![quote]

I've got this coming as a rental on 360. Anyone interested in doing some co-op in the next week or two (assuming it's not locked behind a $10 code?)
