The Killzone 3 Red Eye Catch All

Well now I can't login this morning. Wouldn't be a problem if the servers were down or something, but I've gotten 3 different error codes. 2 8000-something and one 21000-something.

Was going to try to re-create our GWJ clan if I can ever login.

The community features at mykillzone show Dynimight and Cyrnix as my only two friends. Anybody else trying it out should add me.

Stele toss me an inv when you get a chance, I believe I already have glanton on my PS3 friends so if I have both of you I dont mind helping get the clan formed later. Dinked around with MP last night and it does feel much tighter on the controls than 2, which had me worried.

PSN: ShadowKlr99

I played Warzone for an hour last night, and though it took me a while to figure out what to do sometimes, I was having a blast.

Let me know about that clan if you get it up. I'll probably keep playing the beta through the weekend at least.

I'm kinda bummed that I didn't check the deals thread until this morning. I still have no headset, and I'll definitely want one if I pick this up for mp.

Still can't get in so no clan yet. But I'll keep trying. I've had about 5 various errors now, plus the one where it just sits forever.

Tried out the various classes with the bots though, and still having some fun. But I really want to play.

EDIT: Update from Developer AcidCatFish, about 4 minutes ago:

Hey guys,

Just had an email from the online tech people ragarding some of the bugs we've been encountering and this is what they had to say:

"The servers are down while we apply this fix, they should be back up in a few minutes. One of the lobbies decided to go and have a hardware failure just now, that's why it's taking a bit longer than we thought. I'll follow up once it's all back up and running."

That explains the current server offline problem but hopefully it's up and running again in a matter of minutes with some fixes and better all-round performance.

I'll keep you posted...

Well I finally connected. Tried to create the clan and my PS3 hard-locked.

So uh, maybe that's not enabled yet for beta. I might try one more time, but I think I'll just try to play while I can.

EDIT: Hm, apparently it did create. I can see it on the community site, my killzone. Maybe I can invite from there.

Invited Glanton, cyrnix, dynimight, and shadowklr. Anybody else let me know sometime today and I'll check back in here in a bit.

I'll throw down, yo.

I'd like a clan invite, if possible. I haven't logged into the beta yet though, so it may not let you do it.

Are you going to have to do this all over again when the game officially releases?

Dunno. I don't even have the game pre-ordered. So I hope if the clans persist then it will at least let me make someone else officer.

I almost got through a match. Our team lost 4-1 on warzone, but then the game disconnected.

So I didn't get my 3k points or so I had. And I got the assassination for our one successful mission too. Argh. Now I can't get back in.

sh*tty. I haven't had that happen since my first round. I think Assassination is the most gratifying round--it just fills me with malicious glee.

I played a round of Operations, and thought it was cute. I got to be the one deploying the nerve gas! I've made my family proud.

Invites sent. Dynimight has actually joined. I just joined him in a match, only to have my PS3 freeze again.

Anyway in the options it does allow me to "transfer leadership" of the clan to dynimight. Or whoever else has already pre-ordered. Just in case it carries over. Somebody let me know who wants it.

I know I'll be getting it but it might be a bit, unless of course I win a copy.

I have it pre-ordered, but someone else can have full control. If you can give control to multiple people, I'm available.

I'm annoyed at being out of town where I can't play the demo. Then again, it sounds like many of you are having problems playing it, anyway, so maybe I'm not missing out too much!

Operations is fun. I only tried it since Warzone was apparently "full"

Still cool stuff. It's like TF2 Attack/Defend

Ooh I just unlocked silent footsteps and proximity mines.

When I tried accepting Stele's invite via XMB, it loaded the beta and then froze on the connection screen, nullifing the invite.

Played against Stele during Warzone. I only saw him once and he killed me. It may be all my time on pc, but I've had a hard time adjusting to both this and MAG. On the other hand, I had no problems picking up Reach during the S&T.

I canceled and reinvited you. Wonder if you should check invites from inside the game already?

I accepted mine from the friends list on PSN just fine, but it will want to launch the game when you accept so I would suggest having the game installed and patched before taking the invite this time.

I haven't had any lock-ups or issues joining, but I received an error telling me it couldn't save my progress. I got about 5k xp from a warzone match but it didn't actually credit it to me.

Stele, I saw you on, but I couldn't figure out how to invite you without pulling you out of the match you were already in.

I was getting the same error Dyni, hope that gets sorted out soon.

Yeah the only way is to join someone else's game already in progress I think. Which I tried to do with you but the game froze. Took me a couple attempts too saying the server was full.

Or you know, meet up before joining. But that would require coordination and the game to be working right.

But either way if you can't join send an invite. If the round I'm in isn't going well I could always bail and join you. Hope to get in some more time tomorrow at least.

I got the clan invite. Thanks, ya'll.

That said, I tried getting on and I keep getting 8001 and 20001 errors. It's almost 11:00 pm CST as I write this. I was able to play a bot match, though, so it was cool to check out the new map. I think I need to hop in to Killzone 2 for a bit to reacquaint myself with the feel of the series, as I've been playing so much MAG recently that my feeling for "sprint" and reload times are a bit skewed.

Any suggestions on improving my chances at getting onto multiplayer matches? Just keep trying? I think I've already got my PS3 in the DMZ, so it isn't a port issue...

A few of us were getting those errors this morning when the servers were down. Didn't find out until later that was the reason behind the errors. Just give it a while and they should be back up and hopefully then you can join some MP games.

I tried the botmatch with the Move controls for maybe 5 minutes yesterday. Seems like it will take a lot of getting used to. I have a feeling that I might have to spring for one of those gun adapters regardless how silly they look. "Shooting from the hip" which is how I tried it just feels whacky at first blush. I'll have to try a bit more.

I jumped into a match this morning and tried out the Move controls. They aren't bad, but I want to play around with the calibration some. And, my arm got awfully tired because I basically had to hold it straight out at the screen for the entire match.

I'll probably try the single player with the Move controls first, so I can get used to where the buttons are and how they are implemented. It'll be a steep learning curve just jumping into multiplayer with them. Aiming was much easier, obviously, so I can see how someone that has the controls down could have an advantage over someone with a controller.

I was able to get on a live match this morning with little problem. And I had gooooooood times again.

Has it been explained whether KZ3 will work like KZ2, or is the beta representative of the final product? As in, in KZ2, I had to choose which matches I wanted, which has its obvious pros and cons. In the KZ3 beta, however, you have to use an automatch feature. I guess, if it were up to me, I'd like to have BOTH options: an automatch option, and then the ability to choose your settings in Warzone, etc.

So yeah, does anyone know? Were any of you in the Closed Beta?

I finally got into some games today. I really liked it (once I got off the team that was being stomped into oblivion)--looks great, the slower/'heavier' gunplay is a better fit for me than CoD's twitchfest, and I liked the map design. Specifically, I liked that it wasn't a big circle, like CoD's maps or like the map from the Crysis 2 demo/beta.

What I didn't like was having my favorite gun being locked away, but that's the way it goes today.

I've put in another few sessions with the Move controls and I actually killed some bots. I think with some practice it has the capacity to be The Sh*t. I went out trying to find one of those plastic gun thingies and a Navigation controller and struck out. The plastic gun thingy doesn't come out until the game does and the Navigation controllers -- Motion controllers, too, actually -- were sold out at both places I tried. It works with a Sixaxis but the Navigation controller would fit the hand better. I think with the little plastic gun contraption it could be a blast.

I didn't try that. I "shot from the hip" the whole time and still had decent success. I'll have to try aiming down the barrel for a bit just to try it. I imagine the accuracy will be pretty snazzy. I just don't want my arm to die which is why I think the plastic thingy might help at least for a while. Having something to brace against is different from just holding your arm out after all.

Yeah, the plastic gun thing could work well. I might have to grab one of those. But $40 gives me pause.

You didn't have a problem looking at the ground while trying to shoot from the hip? It wasn't the aiming that was the problem, it was the fact that I needed to have the Move controller pointed at the screen to turn my character.

Amazon has the Move controllers, but not the Navigation controllers. Sony's having a hard time keeping all the components in stock. Of course, it'd be nice if you could buy one box with everything.

Not once I got a bit more used to it. Yes, initially I was having a hell of a time getting anywhere. I still have issues on occasion, but I'm getting used to it. It helps that I playing about 10 feet away 100" screen, so the range of motion to go top to bottom and left to right is quite high. If that "cone" were narrower I could see it being more of an issue.

This move discussion is strange. You guys never played Metroid Prime (3 or trilogy), Call of Duty, or Goldeneye on the Wii? You just rest your shooting arm on a pillow or something and have at it.

Anyway, checking out our clan stats. SpacePoliceman is way out in front with double my xp. It also shows average unlocks for the clan and looks like Infiltrator, then Tactician are our two most played classes? I know I started with Marksman, did some time as Medic, but have had to go Tactician since sometimes it seems my team doesn't understand the whole capturing spawn points thing and how much it helps/hurts us. If you don't get one of the spawn points near those attack and destroy missions you are never going to win running across the map in time.

Personally I haven't tried Infiltrator at all. I hate spies in TF2 and suck quite horribly at playing them. Guess I'll still give it a try sometime this week, as long as the beta is still going.

I haven't played any Wii shooters, although I have a copy of the Metroid Prime Trilogy in my backlog. I didn't have a Wii when Prime 3 came out, and by the time I got one I had forgotten about it. I want to get a copy of Goldeneye, but I'd probably play it with a classic controller.

Is the beta still going this week? I might have to find some time to squeeze it in.
