Blight of the Immortals Catch-All (from the makers of Neptune's Pride)

Pages

Very similar to Neptune's Pride but it's cooperative/competitive. Fight off the zombie horde with other players and try to get the highest score. There is also a PVP mode.

I do really enjoy Neptune's Pride. If there are people willing to give this a chance, I'll play.

I'm with you. Let's see who else will join us. I think this is a better fit for me than Neptune's Pride, but then again, I've only played with complete strangers in that game.

Poking around, it looks much more complicated and random then NP. Of course, one of the reasons I like NP so much was the simplicity of it and the illusion of utter predictability. Well, we will see.

Coincidentally, it seems you can install both into Chrome.

Unfortunately they are just links to the site, nothing special.

I'm up for giving it a try.

Same here.

I'm already just a few hours into my first game and I got 3 blight armies for a total of around 143 strength coming into within a day's march of my area. Going to try to recruit as much as I can and make plans for a fighting retreat if they come at me.

Joined a game and my dwarves are surrounded. Buying up people around me to do a fighting retreat.

Is it possible to have it so that time passes only monday-friday?? I cannot guarantee that I will actually be able to get 'net access on the weekends due to stuff with the kids, etc.

I think it is possible with the premium games.

I just joined a free game. On the good side, I ended up at the bottom of a peninsula, once I secure a few locations behind me I'll have a very defensible location. On the bad(?) side there aren't any undead anywhere nearby, so it'll be awhile before I see how that portion of the game works.

Yes, with premium games you can. So you have to pay the 10 a month to get that. I would be up to playing with you with that setting.

I'm going to wait a couple of days to see how I like it once stuff starts happening, but as of now I am planning on getting at least a short term premium account.

Will it be possible to get into goodjer games, or will I have to pay to do that?

I believe you have to pay if you are hosting. You can also join free games with other friends but they are not private so they fill up fast. I think most of us are trying out before we commit cash.

I joined a game yesterday, and it's very impressive for a browser game. I used to play a lot of asynchronous multiplayer games a few years back, but ended up having to quit because they affected my sleep cycle. (OMG! I need to wake up at 3am to initiate an attack so that it arrives at 1:00pm!) I'm hoping the very slow pace of BotI eliminates this.

A question: How can you tell the attack strength of a unit? Is it literally the number that you see on the map, or do different units have different attack/defense values?

And a request: Does anyone have tips for a newbie? I found the tutorial to be mostly useless, and would love a couple of pointers to get started on the right foot.

The number is their strength. Each army gets X strength per reinforcement. For Rangers, it is 6 strength. For Treeman, it's 50. Etc... You can find out this information by clicking on the unit and then clicking on their name in the bottom window. That will pop open a menu that will tell you all the information about the unit.

Has this come out of beta yet? That's mostly what I was waiting for.

I'm pretty sure it is still in beta, as some features haven't been implemented yet.

So I hit the first pay wall, and thought I might invest a bit of real money... but then I saw the pricing scheme:

1 Month Iron Key for $10
6 Month Silver Key for $36
12 Month Golden Key for $48

For a game that takes literally minutes a day this is beyond insane. I'm really disappointed that their basic cost is almost MMO-like in scope..... for so much less game time. Admittedly the full year pricing is closer to reasonable (but still high for what this is).... but I have no clue if this game has that sort of legs yet, and I'm certainly not paying $10 for a month. Bah.

Can you play an unlimited amount of games with that money though?

I managed in to be in the same game as Tkyl.

It seems cooperation is important. The zombies are kicking my ass. They don't seem to move that often but there is a lot of them.

You could, yes. You could also set up private games, games that suspend over the weekend, and turn-based games that advance in 12hr chunks. That's all stuff I'd be willing to pay for, but not $10/month and perhaps not even at $4/month if I had to commit to a full year. It still doesn't add up to much playtime/dollar even if you're playing a handful of games simultaneously.

Now... if the going rate was $4 for a single month I might buy in for a trial month.....

If it's anything like Neptune's Pride the time you spend playing is a lot less than the time you spend thinking about playing. The fun is in the plotting and planning.

*edit*

Oh what the hell, going to give it a try.

*another edit*

Joined an empty game. Let's see if we can get some Goodjers in here.

Oops, wrong game. That's the right link now.

I know without buying the immortal key, you cannot build units of finance colors beyond the two you start with. Is this indefinite, or is it you just can't buy the first one? Basically, if I trade with someone for something, does that unlock that type for the rest of the game? If I can't reinforce an army, it seems pretty useless.

I joined this beginner game, 5 slots still open: http://blight.ironhelmet.com/game/50...

Joined a game, but I'm a little fuzzy on how the trading works. I try to send my allies my spare money in colors I don't need, but I get no confirmation that I'm sending anything.

If you look in your inbox under diplomatic messages you will see that your allies have received your trades.

Trading is very ad hoc in the game... my introduction to it was someone sending a message stating what he had, what he wanted, and the going rate (1:1)..... then people responding saying what they'd sent him, and presumably he reciprocated.

Note that you only get 4 trades per day, and that trades with independent locations count to that total.... e.g. when you buy out an existing army.

ha, danyboy is in the same game before i posted on the board. goodjers are taking over!

We should decide on a time when a lot of goodjers can get together and then all join a random game. See if we can get all goodjers.
