Wow GWJA: Raid week for 1/18/11 - 1/24/11 (Update #5)

Raid is on tonight.

Rantin, have fun with the wife and grats again!

Lawk is healing and we're going after the one tank bosses (Magmaw and Dragons)
We're going to bring in Max on short notice just to add some melee dps to the pile.

Sundays run is also a go, but we will be losing Rantin for Sunday as well for some real life stuff.
Outsane is going to be filling in.

Will update top post.

I'm sorry to say, but I'm afraid you may be taking people's words far more harshly than they are intended, and reading incorrectly what their intentions are. All anyone has tried to say to you is that we understand the frustration being voiced, we share it, we want to help fix it if possible, and we wish you had chosen to have calm, "face to face" style conversations about your very reasonable concerns with the folks trying to lead the guild before making posts on a public forum that have come off as somewhat harsh/inflammatory in tone. If it seems that anyone has been mean, I might suggest that it may be out of frustration that you seem to be missing the points of the other folks involved in the conversation, taking a confrontational tone when it does not seem appropriate based on what other folks are posting, and making broad generalizations and assumptions about the people in the guild without taking the time to fully appreciate the nature and history of our guild.

While none of us have the power to stop you from posting here as you would like or to moderate this board in any way at all, it would be much appreciated if you could take some time to cool down and re-read what has been said. If you still feel it is of value to continue the conversation, it would further be appreciated if you could either have a direct conversation with folks (via PM, whisper, vent, etc) or at the very least start another thread to discuss it, so we can continue to use this thread for its intended purpose of organizing our raids for the week.

There is no use in arguing with evilmonkey. Just give it up now!!! It will get your nowhere.

Congrats Oily!!!!

Also all the toons raiding 3 times a week get a JOB!!!

It seems like raiding has been lately. Grats oily. Also, a pre-grats? to Ranakin. (crossing fingers for you man). Good luck this evening folks. Thanks Bean for making things a go for tonight and sunday.

Lawk is going to fill in? Shoot. I don't want to miss that circus. At least Max is going so I can pour over the log afterward.

Thanks for the grats and the well-wishing, guys. Love that good stuff is happening, kind of hate that it's coincidentally killing my raid time. Give 'em hell this last two nights for me, folks and count on me being on Friday and Saturday to help take people through heroics for those of us still gearing up.

/highfive

I'll be around this weekend too for those gearing up and looking for DPS to fill out heroics. Also, once I get this piece made for Grinds I think my crafting queue is clear, for those that might be looking for leatherworking epics.

Looks like when I logged out and logged back into the instance my combat log got screwed up. That means I did not capture a log for the kill of the actual internet dragons.

Logs are so much better when you (me) can see a quantifiable amount of "help" you added to the raid. Tanking is just a pass/fail, and all the log shows is how much of a burden I am on the healers.

Also, a big thanks to everyone that helped get me squared away on chants and gems as I zoned in to the raid. It was all I could do to respec, build a mostly non-PVP gear set, and pick up some gems in time for raid.

And annoyingly, the armory isn't giving us credit for the the kill either -- activity logs don't even show the folks who got the loot receiving it. Apparently a lone hunter frantically disengaging and firing off one last desperate pair of kill shots wasn't epic enough for the game to recognize our victory.

The guild activity feed does show the loot, but no kills. I had thought that the Armory hadn't updated my new toothy helm since I hadn't logged out as I normally do. Strange...

Yeah, must just be behind on updating -- it'll probably show up soon.

When I looked in the Guild Activity log in game this AM everything was showing up.

I may have to go back to recording our raids again if we keep getting things down to the wire like that. Plus last man standing taking one last shot to drop him was impressive.

I immediately thought about starting to record raids while I lay there dead watching Zero finish him off (GJ! BTW). Though I think the tank's perspective would be pretty poor. There are quite a few fights that all you see is boss-crotch

Sorry folks, I just realized I forgot to give out EPGP last night.
I logged in and took care of it today. All 10 players from Thursday night raid just got their proper EP.

Have you made a decision on bosses to be attempted on Sunday? I'd like to start watching vids and reviewing strats.

Well, we have the choice of one of three bosses, all of which will be new to the entire raid.

Conclave of the Wind -- Another council fight with lots of abilities to keep track of and a fairly complex dance, but it is one of the "starter" bosses for the expansion (and thus potentially easier), and one we could easily come back to next week to keep working on if need be.

Maloriak -- A fight that is supposedly simpler than it looks at first blush, but requires good awareness, interrupts paired with a cast time slowing debuff, and strong DPS all around to do successfully. Also said to be a bit of a gear check to meet the enrage timer.

Twilight Ascendant Council -- Yet another complex council fight, with a stiff gear check burn phase at the end. Supposedly even if you manage to learn the dance for the first few phases, it's possible to hit a brick wall at the end if your DPS and healing numbers aren't strong enough.

Personally, from the cursory reading I've done (not exhaustive by any stretch of the imagination) it sounds like we might be wise to leave the Ascendent Council until we have a few more upgrades across the board. As for the Wind Council vs Maloriak, well, I'm not sure, but part of me wants to hit Wind Council just for the change in scenery.

Was just coming here to post that we will be going to Throne of the Four Winds. Good recap by Zero.

Please make sure everyone knows the fights for Sunday. Thanks!

Good week folks- 5 bosses down... 2/2/1 in each of the raids.

So... 3 nights of Al'Akir next week? Talk about motivation to gquit!

Don't forget to Sign Up for next week.

Al'Akir has already broken Mr. Positive's will? We're hosed.

Al'Akir has become Exalted with GWJ Alliance. That fight sucks.
