Portal 2 Catch-All

Finished it

Awesome game.

Bummed there's no individual level/puzzle select option after beating it though. I really wanted that. Instead they just give you chapter selection list.

Good to hear about the chapter selection. I was kicking myself for not making more saves and thinking I'd have to replay the whole game for the few achievements I missed. Would much rather focus on a few parts.

One thing I've found out, since for whatever reason it's seeing the game as cheats off now, is that developer commentary mode counts for unlocking chapters and achievements.

I didn't have trouble with that 3 turret puzzle, but I also beat the co-op before the single player, so I had dealt with that problem before. White goo puzzles are definitely the hardest. I always covered an unnecessary amount of surface with it.

Yeeeah, I'm a blackbelt in pretty much everything... Karate, JUjitsu, bedroom...

Happy Explosion Day, gorgeous

Are there any advanced challenge rooms in this game?

Unfortunately not. Hopefully they release an SDK though

you know they will. why else would they have hats and butt flags.

i just hope the updates don't crawl out like the L4D2 updates

It's probably a little harder to do as the test rooms are a bit less formal most of the time compared to P1. Hopefully the SDK comes out soon rather than "soon".

Actually I missed the more twitchy puzzles from Portal 1. Flying from portal to portal was great fun. I thought with the last "Boots" trailer they'd have more (some) of them.

Both the Boots trailer and the end of GLaDOS Wakes show some fast moving twitch gameplay. I also noticed that occasionally portals don't go exactly were you shoot them. Instead they connect if you're shooting them near the "correct" location. It's not huge, but probably part of reducing frustration caused by your portal being 6 inches out of position.

I think I'm going to replay Portal, it's been at least 4 years since I've played it and hopefully I'll have forgotten how to do the puzzles.

I'm hoping Valve continues to support the game like they have with TF2 and L4D. It be nice to see some new levels added occasionally.

I think they already have harder stuff in the pipeline as challenge rooms. Just call it a hunch.

Finished it. Loved it. I've heard lots of people complain about Wheatley, I gotta say, not knowing who the voice actor is might help, cuz I found him hilarious all throughout the game, and wanted more!

Spoiler:

White gel is addictive. I can't stop covering everything with it!!

So...Glados was a woman named Caroline...interesting, huh?

Anyone else found the secret Borealis Docking Area? Gives u an achievement. :)

LOVED IT!!!! Will jump into dev commentary and co-op soon. Gotta decompress a bit.

I adored Wheatley. I could listen to him for hours.

I loved all the voices, especially Cave Johnson.

Spoiler:

His incendiary lemons rant nearly had me in tears.

Did Cave Johnson remind anyone a lot of Wilford Brimley? That's all I could think of when I heard his voice.

Spoiler:

- Loved it.
- The dynamic music with the gels was sooooo gooooood.
- THE MOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!!!!!!!
- Seriously, I shot a portal at the MOON!
- Glados "I think this is the part where he kills us"
Wheatley "Hello, this is the part where I kill you"
Chapter 9 The Part Where He Kills You
- Glados "I am a potato" * slow clap *
- Hilarious. So many funny moments that either made me laugh out loud or smile.
- When Glados can't stop responding to Cave Johnson's pre-recorded message and then goes silent. Great moment. I also thought it was great how she reacted to his lemon tirade.
- I like how all the vines in the facility are from Chell's potato science experiment.
- The song with the singing turrets!
- The credits song!!
- King turret!!!

Ahhhhhh so good.

Can't wait to play through again with the developer commentary and go through the co-op.

Really? All I can think of is white supremacists for some reason.

I can only imagine Cave Johnson after all those years of testing (NSFW).

After dinner I'm gonna want some co-op from the beginning. Anyone up for it?

There's speculation about that, given the setting of the experiment, and the whole orphan/adopted thing.

Just beat single player, beat co-op last night. I'm on a high from this game right now. Stephen Merchant voicing Wheatley was a total surprise for me, and I'm a huge fan of Extras and Ricky Gervais, so I was losing it every time he talked. Thought the way they did music was one of the best things about it. f*cking fantastic.

OMG I'm totally going to have to play it again...

Yeah, I know it was J.K. Simmons, but he still sounded like Brimley when he got older.

Speaking of speculation, here's the big whopper of them all, which piggy-backs on to what you're talking about. It...makes a lot of sense. Here's the Steam link (WARNING: Tremendous Spoilers Ahoy!)

That's where I got it from. It's nice that they can put the pieces out there for people to put together as a possibility, and not feel the need to slam it in the player's face. It can safely be ignored, but peripheral details like (and rat man, and all the other bits) that are what make some games rise above and feel more than just some spaces that contain gameplay, a world that lives (or lived) outside whatever the player is pointing their camera at.

It's like the exact opposite of the approach of Don't Take It Personally, Babe, It Just Ain't Your Story.

Subtlety: It works, bitches!

And a "The Part Where He Kills You" achievement! That was the best f*cking achievement I've ever received, he almost actually killed me I was laughing so hard.

Similarly, I'm gonna need someone to finish coop with. Up to the 4th area (Excursion Funnels?) and would like to get through that.

I'll be on in about 15-20 minutes and looking to do some co-op as well.

Running through developer commentary, so if anyone is up for some co-op, give me a yell.

Quick question for anyone who has completed the Dev Commentary: How long is it?
