The damned don't care about your soul

I was having a conversation with a buddy about this. The idea of only being able to kill each other by using the portal gun is too delicious to pass up. Imagine dropping Quintin into a vat of lava. Or dropping a turret behind Quintin. Or getting Quintin stuck in an infinite fall where the only escape is to smash himself on the ground.

Bring it on, furball!

I'm getting a new computer the soul purpose of getting you stuck in an infinite loop.

Don't want to pee on your bonfire, but computers don't have souls.

I'm also not sure that a soul is required to mess with Q-Stone, anyway.

Doh! Touche.

My computer is powered by the souls of the damned.

This negativity just makes me stronger!

This looks amazing. Cant wait to do co-op online with someone. Question though: Does anyone know when its set?

Supposedly a few hundred years after the first Portal.

Wonder why. Maybe so they can avoid any half life spoilers or associations.

zomg...(possibly)

Subject: A note from Aperture Science

Dear Subject Name Here,

Aperture Science is pleased to inform you that we have partnered with Valve to announce the gala CANCELLATION of the June 14 Portal 2 event at the Regal Theater. The event will be replaced by a surprise. And even though the cancellation of the event certainly counts as a surprise, we are pleased to further announce that the cancellation of the event is not THE surprise. However, per International treaties regarding the definition of the word "surprise", of which both Aperture Science and Valve are signatories, the time, date and content of the actual surprise will only become available as you experience the surprise.

If you'd like to ask fruitless questions about the E3 Portal 2 surprise or, more fruitfully, schedule an appointment to attend a Portal 2 screening at the Valve booth during E3, please contact Valve's Special Envoy to Surprises, Doug Lombardi.

Thank you for <>

PS: The surprising record scratch is also not the surprise.

First off : awesome way to announce they are cancelling a Presentation.

Secondly : The surprise....

Is it time?

You know of what I speak.

Not twice in one week, that's more than I can handle. Don't phunk with my heart, stevenmack!

The surprise is that Comcast bought Valve. Comcast and AT&T. Steam will now be subscription based, and only via AT&T's 3G service.

Just to be contrary, I'm going to say that maybe in addition to episode3, it's not an established game. Similar to how Portal was bundled with established HL2 and TF2, there will be another colour box with new game(s) bundled with Portal2.

Or are valve past the point of working on small projects and putting 3 in a box?

The real question is, what would be another good color for such a box?

Chartreuse Box.

The Plaid Box confirmed

I think predicting Valve does something predictable is never a good bet. Except delay a Half Life game. They'll never let you down if you predict that.

Valve games aren't delayed, time just works differently over there.

Rainbow.

I think Blizzard already has dibs on Rainbow for the Diablo 3 box.

This is the least funny thing I have ever read.

So, Left 4 Dead 3 then?

Actually I think that, if this isn't something Half-Life it could be some big L4D2 DLC maybe?

I'd like to cast my vote in the "The Surprise is something new" category.

I really don't think Valve is going to repeat L4D again and I have a sneaky suspicion that HL2 Episode 3 is still in limbo.

They've still got to release the L4D1 portion of The Crossing. With L4D/L4D2 being the first games that valve have released so close to each other, it's hard to say if valve are really into releasing a lot of sequels. My personal view is that there's not too much they can do with L4D besides churning out content, unless they take the format and twist it into a new game and setting, just as CS with bots armed with knives was the seed that grew into L4D. I seem to remember hearing that Turtle Rock/Valve South are working on something new and are keeping a bit of independence from Valve in Seattle, could be worth keeping an eye on.

In short, valve aren't easy to predict.

edit: Seeing as the last few months have given us steam on mac, which few would have imagined this time last year, anyone want to do "out there" predictions that isn't a bit of games software? Valve teaming up with $some_company to make a pc/mac games oriented box.

Did anyone else read that in their head using a GLADoS voice?

I did at first but then I was too excited to read the rest so I sped through it instead.

Surprise? Full sized Weighted Companion Cube for all 30 million Steam users?

Kingdom Hearts 3.

I think the fact that they call it the "E3 Portal 2 Surprise" in the press release makes it highly probable that whatever is happening at the Regal theater will still be Portal 2 related.

They are going to unveil an honest to god working portal gun.

(you heard it here first people)

Of course, the "E3" in that quote might not refer to the "Electronic Entertainement Expo".

DO YOU SEE WHAT I JUST DID THERE?!

Here's one wild suggestion: Valve taking over GFWL from MS?
