Old School Raiding - BWL on the table

Last night four of us tackled Molten Core. There were a couple wipes, but it wasn't bad for an 85 Rogue, 73 Hunter, 70 Warlock, and me (83 mage). We were remembering old stories and showing the 1337 raiding dungeons to someone who hadn't seen it. And we thought it could be cool to try to tackle some raiding places every once in a while. I mean, we took down Ragnaros. Not bad for four guys with no tank or heals. So my question to you guys and gals. Would you be interested in going back and seeing these places? Reliving the good old days or seeing places you never thought you'd see when you were guildless at lvl 60?

This would be purely a fun run and I don't think we'd make it weekly or anything, but maybe once a month we could get some people together and crush some insects in AQ or even see the cooler BC raids that a lot of us didn't get to see. I hear Karazan is awesome. And its a great way to get some achievements you might not have gotten. Nothing like putting Nefarion in his place, eh?

Who wants to go?

Actually Grenn, one of the coolest things (IMO anyway) I plan on the leveling groups doing is meet at the old level caps and hit a lot of these old raids together at the appropriate level. While they likely won't be too much of a challenge with all of our fancy new abilities, they would be a ton of fun.

Pre WOTLK my friend who is a if not the top rogue on Silverhand took my 57 druid on a "tour of Stratholme". He was top raid geared and level 70. It was funny because we stealthed past the inconvenient stuff and I was feral spec'd so he was using leader of the pack nearly exclusively to heal himself. It was a blast!

So I highly recommend doing this sort of thing for those who haven't experienced this conent yet. Call it the "Bosses of Legend" tour.

Ya, Janeira of the guild (very possibly that 85 rogue in your group) has been wanting to do the older instances. Personally, I'm still deeply scarred by them

I'm not exactly high leveled enough (66) or geared well, but I would love to revisit some of these old places that I ripped through in ye olden day. Blackwing Lair especially. Getting revenge on C'thun would be nice too. Kael'thas and the Sunwell would be fun to experience as well.

Yeah, Jan was the rogue and our tank

I'm down for any of these runs since I've never seen any of this content.

Something funny about lfd is that I have no idea where a lot of the dungeons are physically!

My schedule never lent itself to the logistics and time needed for a lot of large scale raids, so I missed out on seeing probably some of the coolest old world content in many cases.

It's so cool you guys can do this now on a smaller scale thanks to the increased level caps.

I'm coming back to WoW soon, and I hope I might be able to join a few other folks in revisiting older (missed) content.

Back in BC there was someone on my old server who ran retro-runs, powering through all the 40 man classic content. Very well attended and popular.

I've only seen the beginning of MC, AQ20, and Kara. Back in the early Wrath days I duoed half of Ony with my DK (back when Death Strike could really heal! The other DK that was with me died) so I soloed her from middle of phase 2 on. That took a bit of time. But you can't do that anymore. I'd love to see the older raid content.

I'm very interested in doing this type of thing on either my Priest, my Paladin, or both. I won't really be able to play WoW again until mid January; but after the dust settles from my relocation I'd be happy to commit to Retro Raids be they weekly or monthly.

I hear you. And I don't want to tread on your toes, especially seeing as I'm one of your levelilng guys. However, this thing I'm proposing would be tantamount to speed runs, just to show people content and get the achievements. I remember how long 40 man raids took and this would not be that.

I've always wanted to see some of these places. I'll join if I know when we're doing it. Serj 85 Ret pally

Same here for sure. I never really had a chance to do the older content, so I would happily join up if we had a plan. SV Hunter.

Bumped for interest. I'm hoping to get something going this week, maybe Thursday. Post for interest and I'll get a list going and let me know if Thursday doesn't work.

I'll be there.

So, everyone cool with Thursday? Say, 8:00 server time?

We had a few hiccups last night, mainly me almost forgetting this. But in the end, we got through MC again in about an hour. We attempted to get the guild achievement, but thought eight guildies would be enough when it instead had to be 10. Oh well. We'll have to organize an achievement run some time as well.

I'd be up for it; I never got to see any of the old raid content

Ok, TK was interested in BWL. AND SO AM I! Who wants to go? Attunement is easy. Hell, getting there through Rend Blackhand's room in easy as well, but that event is long as balls, so why not just get attuned and do it once? Its a great opportunity to get a guild achievement (we'd need 10) AND the Jenkins achievement/title. Does any have any dates in mind? Maybe this Saturday? Sunday? Thursday?

What level do you need to be for these old-school dungeons? Are any specific equipment load-outs required?

For BWL, there's a rarespawn orc to the right and down a flight of steps next to the BRS that drops a quest starting letter. Then you run BRS (which requires no key anymore), and touch the orb behind Drakkisath and you can get in through the orb entrance next to UBRS door. Or, you can run UBRS up through the Rend Blackhand event and head through the rooms in the OTHER direction and find the normal entrance there. Also, I believe the level requirement is 58. If not, then its 60.

Those are end game raids from Classic WoW, so probably 56+

I'm not sure what my weekend plans are yet, but I'd be up for this if I'm able to be online for a bit over the weekend.

I'll prob do it as well.

I would like to do this also... either Cayle 85 Hunter rdps or Fionorose 76 warlock rdps sounds like fun

Just to throw in on this, BWL is the best experience I've had raiding in WoW, hands down. There's a lot of content I never saw in Wrath(latter half), but for pure enjoyment and nail biting excitement, BWL was it.

Well, except for the supression room. Screw that place.

Does Saturday sound good? Maybe around 5 server or 6? Remember, the time and date are very changeable.

works for me... I am on on East Coast so either server time.

Anyone want to do one later tonight?

I'd like to go, but it'd have to be after 7 on Saturday.

I'm cool with after 7 on a Saturday.
