Come R/C enthusiasts, represent!

So my 2 year old son now takes my RC10 with him to bed at night. It's a definite step up from the double fistful of Lightning McQueen cars he usually has. Give him a year or two and maybe I'll pick up a stadium truck.

So what types of cameras do ya'll use? I bought a cheap 808 keychain camera for use with rockets and my Hobbyzone Champ plane. I already lost one in an unfortunate rocket incident (thus sticking with cheap).

Not quite sure if that is a step forward or backward for humankind. Either way, it's fun as hell to watch.

Step, nothing. That is a gigantic awesome leap. But then, I own a full size MINI, so I might be biased.

Just cleaning the place out and came across two zipzaps that still work, a new bright 1:10 30mph corvette, a lego dust crusher, an Incredibles Fast lane car, and a dub city car. The fast lane car was missing a spring and a lever for the wheels so the wheels wouldn't center. Looked into getting another and using the this one for parts but they don't make them any more and the ones on ebay cost way to much. I haven't found the remote for the dub city car, I might have thrown it out by mistake because I have a extra remote but no car to go with it. The zipzaps, lego dust crusher, and new bright corvette work perfectly. The only problem I had was the new bright car uses a battery pack and charger that isn't produced any more. I contacted the company to see where I could get one but lucky for me I found the charger.

Someone felt sorry for me and got me a rc helicopter. Just one of those cheap indoor models. This thing is so much fun to play with. Lets see it is a Syma S109G Apache. You charge it through USB. I crashed it a hundred times and it seems to still work ok.

The Syma helicopters are a wonder of engineering for the price. Mine cost around $30 and goes exactly where I direct with no spin or drift, and I haven't touched the trim knobs since I unboxed the thing. I let my kids fly it and they've crashed it horribly with no ill effect.

How much?

Well considering how old it isn't, and that there is almost $1000 worth of stuff, I think $600 isn't a bad amount.
I will consider shipping but in the case it weighs 16lbs.
I'll post up some pics and include the url here if anyone is interested.

Drone now listed on Used Ottawa and Kijiji.

My best crashes, summer 2012! Woo!

Also,

A couple of high altitude segments edited out of the crash video above:

Another Kickstarter payout!

(Horrible cell phone photo because it was fast and easy)

So I'll be joining Orphu!

Sweet! I'm still totally addicted to this hobby. I'm nearly finished with yet another, this time with FPV in mind. And I have another frame waiting for parts. I'm hopeless

Assembled! Still need to upload firmware to the main controller and the telemetry pack. Other than that, it's ready for pre-flight.

So what amount (if any) of cargo capacity does that have? Can you mount a camera? It looks awesome.

Yeah, it has a fair payload capacity, just at the cost of runtime. They're working on a camera mount and gimbal. I can't find the video, but they showed the Advanced model like I have lifting a brick. It was pulling a lot of power to do that though.

How long until you mount a BB gun on it?

I need the FPV rig first.

I decided to spoil myself for a birthday gift.
I got an email from a RC store I follow and it got my fingers itching for some new drone action.

I picked up a Heli-Max 1SQ VCam. It shoots 720p video, is really stable for it's size and can be flown indoor or out. I don't have a good video first-person video of 3rd person vid but I'll post one when I get one. So far i'm learning it far quicker than I ever did my larger helicopter (old esky lama3)

Cool!
What kind of flight time does it get?

About 5-7 minutes but luckily since the batteries are so tiny they are also cheap. $6 each so when I got it I got an extra battery.

Note, don't fly after a few drinks. easy to lose track of controls.

:/

Awesome video! How long until you start conducting your own drone strikes?

I'll need a few more drones. and lasers.

I built another one. It's a disease.

Love it!

I'm not up to building yet but I'll be saving my pennies for one of these once I buy a Spektrum DX7s

Oh, man, I didn't need to know about that. I might have to spring for one after the holidays.

The GPS features are amazing.
It's a couple hundred bucks cheaper than the DJI Phantom and does all the same stuff. I love the looks.
