Started a bunch of things this week since the end of my work contract, and will be playing them all this weekend:
- Red Dead Redemption 2 (PC)
- Assassin's Creed Rogue (PC)
- Lara Croft GO (PC)
Out of that list, I may actually finish Lara Croft GO, as it's pretty short. It's also not bad!
I’ll be continuing Dragon Quest XI and starting Extreme Trials in Final Fantasy XIV.
Atomic Heart: Played the demo and while I love the look of the game the protagonist is so unlikable. The tough guy dropping f-bombs thing was fine in the 90s but its a joke today. Seems like most dialogue in this game are pretty juvenile and a throwback to a different era.
But the game looks and plays amazing so ended up buying it.
I've recently found myself falling back into Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, which I've started from the beginning. I'm not sure why I petered out last time, but I'm taking it much more casually this time, and am having a lot more fun.
Yup, plus more Taxinaut.
Started Asura's Wrath today on ye olde Xbox 360 while coming back home for a day before heading out of town for the weekend, so some of that. Will also be taking my Switch and 3DS with me, so I'm thinking a smattering of whatever calls my attention for short spells while I have some me-time amidst family.
Nioh: Complete Edition
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Zenless Zone Zero
I'm full steam on the Octopath Traveller II train over here. Ample chapter cutscenes pair nicely with coffee & other vices, and I think I'm grokking the combat, if not mastering it. All other games are on pause right now for OT2, though I think by next week it'll be time to return to Mementos in P5R.
Finished Rollerdrome just now (with a reduced damage assist on, because....sh*t gets cray-cray), and started LostWinds, which is a bit different from what I expected.
Also planning to make more progress in CrossCode, and maybe Octopath Traveler II for their respective game clubs.
I've been wanting to trade all my JRPG and strategy gaming for a little action, so I booted up Final Fantasy XVI. Last year, I dipped my toe into it, but never really committed. Don't feel the need for another project right now, but we'll see how it grabs me!
Ok changing playing Atomic Heart this weekend to Witchblood.
Witchblood is a VR metrovania style game. It's a bit on the easier side, say of the Headlander variety, but is a lot of fun. Story is pretty simple, you're a girl whose father is killed. While fleeing find out you have witch powers. You use those to go after the man that kills your father.
The game really doesn't make a whole lot of use of VR. The rooms are in 3D, so you get that enhancement, but you rarely need to change your perspective to see around objects. But the main thing it does is the wall you're facing serves as your map. You can look left/right/up/down of the room you're in and see silhouettes of the rooms you've previously visited. It's so seamless and such a simple addition but make a huge difference.
This game is actually an older one. It came out in 2017, back when they were really pushing Oculus Rift and had all sorts of developers making a bunch of crazy PCVR games. So it's been a bit lost to time like all those other games around then (Lone Echo, Wilson's Heart, The Mage's Tale, From Other Suns) but is newly released for the Quest headset. And at about $12 with a referral code it is a no brainer.
Update: Well that was short lived. It took a little less than 3 hours to complete the game. I think I missed one powerup. So not a long game by any means but had fun with it.
Phoenix Point with the Terror from the Void mod (only took me 10 mins to remember that I have to run the game via the Steam Library screen).
I'm thinking that perhaps I should have played a bit more of the base game first, as I had so little time in it that I'm not sure what the mod has changed.
Still, I keep shooting alien greeblies, so all is well.
Played about an hour and a half of suicide squad. I could see potential, but I could not see myself playing more as I did not enjoy the combat.

I played it last week and felt the same way. It's a poorly executed Bioshock wannabee.
I finally finished Elden Ring, which is my personal GOAT so now I'm in that weird period of trying to find something good to play after a legendary game and nothing is grabbing me. I've been dabbling in - Sniper Elite 5, Darkwood, Devil May Cry 5, Red Dead, Flintlock and a few others.
I'll probably jump back in finish Cyberpunk and Kingdom Come Deliverance.
My friend, have you heard the good news about RoboCop: Rogue City?

I know it exists. What's the news?

Personally, my game of the year. Finished it, and immediately started New Game+ and finished it again. If you like RoboCop, it's a must-play.

Interesting. I watched a few gameplay clips and it seems like a 10-hour shooting gallery where he's just taking out endless mobs of goons. I'm down to check it out, just giving my takeaway from the videos I've seen.
I mean, it is something of a shooting gallery since you're a walking tank, but the story is fun, the violence is glorious, there's a lot of fun side missions, and Peter Weller comes back as Robo. It took me about fifteen hours to go through my first playthrough since I had to do EVERYTHING.

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a go.

I MUST get in on this one: Veloxi is your friend for recommending you this game. Robocop: Rogue City is a stellar linear shooter that is probably in Top 5 of "Most Underrated Games of All Time".
It is so good that, upon finishing it, I immediately went out and bought Terminator: Resistance to get my fix for moar. Teyon made the Terminator before the Robocop, but it is veeeery similar in gameplay and feels. Once I get through the Terminator, I'm definitely playing Robocop Game Plus mode - and I assure you it's not for lacking of what to play... Love them both, 10/10.
You guys convinced me and reading the Metacritic reviews really locked in the same sentiment here. Downloading now.
Huzzah!!!
I just started playing Hell Let Loose (2021 release) and it's incredible. Essentially it's a WWII squad based military sim/shooter that requires communication and planning. There are 14 classes, 18 maps and 3 gane modes and it's been epic so far. Gun shots are pretty much one shot deaths, the atmosphere is tense and unnerving and in my short time, the community has been awesome. Lots of people on the mic strategizing and helping new players. I haven't had this much fun with multiplayer since Socom back in the day. Definitely recommend checking this - its available on Gamepass too!
I'm curious to know if any Goodjers are playing this regularly. There's no catch all for the game - is there a general thread somewhere to coordinate whose doing what multi and when. I thought we had something like that a while back.
Hoping to clear Dawntrail's first Extreme trial in Final Fantasy XIV tonight, and hopefully making more progress in Dragon Quest XI.

Xcom 2. Christopher Odd has a new series, massive mod-set. One of the main ones changes soldier skills and classes to make every soldier a hybrid of 3 classes. A Sharpshooter-Assault-Combat Medic looks a lot different from a Sharpshooter-Gunslinger-Executioner.
This is the second time a youtuber with a community of enthusiasts has curated a huge and different mod-set for a game that got me back into it. The other was a Rimworld Star Wars overhaul. Its a really interesting way for a creator famous for a game to revisit it while keeping things interesting for everyone.
New Path of Exile league starts today, if history holds I usually play through until about Act 6 and then drop it until another new league starts.
Hopefully PoE2 has an “adventure” mode like Diablos 3 & 4 that lets you skip the story in subsequent playthroughs. I love the game but having to replay the entire story to reach the endgame each league is extremely tedious and I don’t remember the last time I’ve been able to stick around long enough to do it.
Most likely Earth Defense Force 6. (Which, to be fair, should probably be called Earth Defense Force 5.5)
