What are you playing this weekend?

My weekend technically starts early as Friday is Independence Day in Costa Rica, so I'll be digging into some more Zelda: TotK, some Gris, and some Gravity Falls: LotGG.

More Metal Gear V, I am about 20% of the way through according to the total completion, but I've also been playing for about 70 hours...so this game is doing something right.

Started a run on the remaster of demons souls, so I will be all over that. The original was the last game I ever imported and it remain an absolute favourite of mine and god does this do it justice. Flamelurker and maneater go down tonight!

I am actually going to create a character and play BG3. Time to leave the mind flayer ship!

I really need to stop hating myself and quit doing all the side quests in Horizon Forbidden West, but I'm having so much fun! Chasing down robots and hoarding collectibles (what do you mean I don't need 2000 medicinal berries?).

I do hate their endgame gear upgrade system though. You hit this wall where you need drops from gigantic end game bosses that take 10 minutes to kill, but they only drop it 15% of the time. Then you need that drop 3x times per equipment, for multiple equipments, and suddenly it becomes very easy to run out of steam. Haven't quite gotten there yet though but I know its coming :/

Not sure how much I'm going to play this weekend, but I hope I can at least finish the second area of Chants of Sennaar.

Starfield and Returnal.

My last weekened didn't go as planned and was only able to put in a few hours on Starfield and none on Returnal. Hopefully this weekend actually get some free time.

Since I had been on such a Remnant kick before, with Remnant and Remnant 2 I saw Chronos: Before the Ashes was on sale on the Epic store for cheap. This is actually the first game in the Remnant series. Story wise it seems to take place well after those first two games.

Unlike the other Remnant games your only weapon choices are sword or axe instead of guns - so you're going to be blocking and dodging a lot. The game plays like Dark Souls lite on an indy budget. It's supposed to be a pretty short game. I put an hour in to it last night. Was fun seeing yet another Ward and while the combat was pretty basic I'm game to finish it.

Ah crap. Just got an email from GOG about a remake of Wizardy: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overload. Where did this come from? This looks great! Damn guess I'm putting that on the list too for stuff I'm going to try and play this weekend.

Update: Looks like this needs more time to cook. Was a slow work day so just created a party and headed in to the dungeon to check it out. Looks great. But when I went to the Inn to rest some members to get my health back my entire party was deleted. They no longer showed up in the training grounds even. Just gone like that.

There were some other oddities going on, like I went in the dungeon with 0 gold, fought one battle and open a chest that netted us about 36 gold. But as soon as I exited the dungeon I was given an additional 700 gold.

It is early access but, yeah not playing this till this party deletion issue is resolved.

Update 2: I asked for a refund. Several others were reporting the same issue of their party being completely deleted and replaced with the default party at random times.

Pretty much only Starfield. That'll probably be true for awhile.

Yeah for at least all of Sept. Probably until Spider-Man 2 and Mario Wonder release in Oct honestly

Halfway through Sept and yep.

I’m on the last boss fight of Death’s Door. Well, the last one before the secret one that you need for the true ending . It’s a multistage fight and not in a good way, with sequences that aren’t very interesting but that are easy to trip up on, robbing you of life segments. I’m doing a few attempts each day before going on to something more interesting/less irritating in the hopes that I’ll eventually know the stages well enough to complete it.

Possibly nothing? Packing up my house for a move. I installed a few random games on the PS5 (Saint's Row, Final Fantasy VII, some others i'm forgetting) in case i get time to play since the PC will be unavailable. We'll see how it shakes out.

Now I just need this done for Curse of the Azure Bonds, Champions of Krynn, Phantasie, Might and Magic, and Ultima 3!

F-Zero 99, surprisingly.

Also Shadow Gambit and Chained Echoes, a little less surprisingly.

Mostly gonna be more Knights of the Old Republic, finally got off of Taris and have just landed on Dantooine.

However, my cruising through the archives of the podcast "No One Can Know About This" have found me starting their Final Fantasy VIII season, a FF that has stayed out of my personal gravity besides character appearances in Kingdom Hearts. As such, I've toyed around with taking a crack at FF8 w/ the copy that's been stashed away on my PSP for over a decade.

Still playing Starfield, deep into the New Game+ mode and still finding new stuff.

On a whim decided to take a brief break from massacring space pirates and shelled out for the Mortal Kombat 1 special edition for early access and ended up returning it after playing through the tutorial and four or five matches in story mode. I’ve played almost every other MK game and really enjoyed what little I saw of the changes to the world and characters, but the actual fighting in this one feels really weird and clunky. Hit boxes are so tiny you have to be practically on top of your opponent and the combo system is way more rigid and restrictive. It just doesn’t feel like Mortal Kombat.

Still showing Mongols the error of their ways in Ghost of Tsushima.

I was feeling uninspired by the games I was planning to play next so I downloaded and played the first few minutes of four games from my library. The games I’ll continue to play are Sea of Stars and Disco Elysium.

Hopefully will finish this tonight just the false king to go. I think I will be close to piling straight into a ng+ though unless I crack on trying Baldur’s Gate.

Hoping to finish Chants of Sennaar this weekend, and then if there's time left I should be able to go back to Mega Man Legends 2.

A lot of Cyberpunk 2077 with Update 2.0 live now. Gotta get my new V up to snuff and ready for Phantom Liberty next week.

Diablo III - Season 29 - has been really fun. It's all very bittersweet but this game is going out with one hell of a bang.

Returnal. 13 hours in and I am in the zone for this game. For the first biome I have no fear and am just death and destruction to anything trying to kill me there.

For the second time I'm at the second biome. I am still very deadly to the new creatures there and deafening them fairly easily. Now I'm only a few doors away from the boss. I expect to die but I don't think it'll be as frustrating a loss as the previous boss. Especially since I nabbed two resurrects - which at this point were not too difficult to get.

This game is so odd for pacing. The first few hours the game are just absolutely fantastic. Everything is new, fun, and your constantly learning new stuff. Then the next 6-7 hours are crushingly brutal as you continually lose all progress just trying to beat that first boss. Then once you get over that hump the game gets fun again. Now everything seems easy and you have a whole new area to explore and learn about.

Will see if I start going through that crushingly brutal part again with this second boss. I expect to die the first few times as I learn him patterns. But I'm hoping with the skills I've learned and mastered I can finish him off much quicker than the first boss.

I've set aside Starfield for now. It seems I never have the free time I expect to have over the weekends. So only focusing on a single game at the moment.

Gravity Falls: LotGG. Been busy traveling in very uncomfortable plane seats with narrow arm rests that have made playing on my 2DS XL very cumbersome. However, I will have some time to relax and play.

6yo's birthday this weekend and he wants Super Smash Bros, which is a genre of game I've never played and have less than 0 interest in. But I'm guessing I'm going to be stuck playing it in the little time I'll have for playing anything over the weekend.

Back to Starfield, since I've been out of town for a few days and haven't touched it. And also LOZ: Link's Awakening DX on my 3DS, since I felt like playing that on the trip for some reason, so I might as well keep at it.

More Disco Elysium. Possibly some Ghostwire Tokyo to see if I like that game or not. The few minutes I’ve experienced so far were very good. The fact that it reminded me of Alice in Borderland (entirely the setting not what’s going on) didn’t hurt.

Hopefully some co-op as well.

With BG3 finally complete, I'm thinking I may take another crack at Horizon Zero Dawn or maybe even Elden Ring.

A little OOTP, a lot of Pathfinder: WotR.

I just started Act 4, and I'd really like to be done with it by Halloween so I can start on Cyberpunk again.

Got a brand new gaming laptop. Haven't PC gamed in probably 15 years.

What should I play?

What threads should I subscribe to?

I pretty much only play boomer shooters and fighters on console but now that I've got M+K, ye olde RTS is calling my name.

Is there a new Total War out? Maybe that? The new Jagged Alliance game? X-COM 2?

Any one of the 5,000 WWII-themed RTS games out there right now?

If you want a new Boomer Shooter that's been well-received, Warhammer 40k: Boltgun might be a good thing to try out.

Unfortunately, I think that's about all the help I'll be. :/ Now if you want CRPGs, just let me know and I will flood you with recommendations!

What kind of RTS? Fantasy? Futuristic? Historic? How far back are you willing to go?
