What are you playing this weekend?

More Kingdom Come and the newly released Early Access The Hunt

Shadowrun: I’m almost done. Pew pew pew. Might go to Hongkong or Avadon: Escape from NY (the pit). Or I might be good and actually try to catch up with the JRPG Club.

Hopefully a whole bunch of this:

I am just going to commit to playing some video game this weekend, which is something I don't think I have done for weeks.

That sounds like a great idea.

Only Shadow of Colossus is a given, I think I got about 5 of them left, so I'd like to finish it up this weekend. Other than that I'd like to just play some games.

I'm really into Subnautica at the moment. I can't see me playing anything else this weekend.

House to myself for 24 hours. I'm hoping to spend a lil chunk of it in my pants playing video games. Probably a real pick and mix... MH World, Shadowrun Dragonfall, start Factorio properly, get back to Yonder and/or Dragon Quest Builders, and just picked up Dungeons 3 on the cheap so might try that. Oh and finish up What Remains of Edith Finch.

So yeah some of that + pizza

Summer vacation is over so that means back to school and trying to live an "honest" student life. It feels like it's going to be a while before the next dungeon appears and I've cleared the most recent block of Mementos (the fresh maker!), so I expect most of this weekend is going to be largely social links and working on social stats (and seeing Black Panther).

I will continue with Nier: Automata, which I started last week. So far, I'm really enjoying it

I bought this on sale for $36. I wasn't too keen to take a gamble on a $60 game, but at that price, sure, I'll bite.

I'm glad I did! It's a super weird mashup of Monopoly and Magic the Gathering/Yu-Gi-Oh. Crucially, it has a lot more control than Monopoly, with ways to modify your dice roll and mess with your opponents'. As far as I can tell, the main mechanics revolve around:

  • Tiles. 4-5 different colours indicating different types of land. You can place monsters on them some get bonuses if they are on, say, a dessert. It's like building properties in monopoly, only these are giant snails or goblins.
  • Chaining - multiple monsters along a strip raises the...tax? So does spending money on the tile.
  • Invading! You can tell your hotel-I mean, monsters to move into your opponent's squares to fight!
  • Deck building - do you want to mess with dice rolls? Do you want to wear lots of equipment? Have monsters that negate opponents? Have monsters that excel in the ocean? It seems pretty flexible!

I know I'm gushing a little bit, but it's so delightfully bizarre and I'm really intrigued. Has anybody else played it?

I played it for a while, bought it Digital. It was fun, and playing people online was pretty ok. I'm spoiled by iOS and async though so it was hard to get the time to play an hour to two hours for a match. If it was async, I would have been more apt to play.

I also only got about half way through the story mode. The Computer was pretty bad about cheating the die rolls, and it's aggravating enough to me to make me want to stop. Other than that and the lack of async multiplay, it's a good, solid game.

Log into the online every day to get a free thing - card or board! It's on a 24 hour timer

No blog stuff for me this weekend, as I'm taking the week off after some dental surgery to recover. I definitely plan to finish up the pre-campaign in this (which is god damned amazing):

More of this, which is also pretty great:

And finally, more time here if possible:

Hopefully will be a great weekend.

Farming in Subnautica, and trying not to get eaten. I miiiiiiiight load up Civilization VI to play that for the first time, but I'm more likely to be beneath the waves.

Gonna try out the Cree in Civilization VI: Rise & Fall, and start up Quadrilateral Cowboy.

Nioh on PC
Maybe another Civ 6 game. And sustain my everlasting addiction to Rocket League.

So most likely if I’m not entirely dead being Mr.Mom TM then Ion Maiden with a side of Shadowrun Hong Kong.

I will be playing

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Tales of Hearts R
FFXIV and

Starting Breath of the Wild

If you're thinking about what to play this weekend, and you have the recent Rise & Fall expansion to Civ VI, check out the Goodjers Rise & Fall shared save game. Based on a suggestion in the Civ VI thread, I created a save on Prince difficulty, the game chose Chandragupta as the leader, and several of us are playing. I remember a series of Goodjer games like this in the Civ V days, but it petered out when people got too busy for a weekly game.

I've gotten enough positive feedback that I'll try to do this monthly, with input from the gang on the setup of the game.

I'll be attempting to finish that Chandragupta game this weekend. I've made good progress, currently in a Heroic Industrial Age, going for science and planning to nuke everyone at the end.

Yeah, I read that 2005's Most Wanted is the best of the series, so I'm tracking a copy down.

High Stakes is actually the best, but seemingly everyone’s memory of NFS doesn’t extend to before Underground.

I hope you're happy.

Oooh, how's this? And how would it be for someone who hasn't touched FF since, well, OG FF on the NES?

I'm working on Metal Gear Solid V, as well as some Pokemon Ultra Sun on the side.

Hmmm, well, I played it back when it first dropped about a decade ago or so and the HD re-release is a marked improvement over the original version.

The story is quite different in tone and focus than the FF iterations most people gush about, but that shouldn't be a factor if you haven't been keeping up with the series since the first one. The combat and exploration are seamless (no transition screen or random battles), as you set up "macros" as you would in an MMORPG so that the party manages basic actions and functions automatically, with you only having to keep a check on status ailments, health, and MP, with the rare occasion where you have to step in and micromanage for some of the big boss battles.

The party, in general, is full of interesting characters but YMMV. It's all rather subjective, there.

For what it's worth, as a series-long fan, it's still my favorite FF.

Fsx, elite dangerous and continuing to work on water rides in Planet Coaster

Playing more Hollow Knight and more Mass Effect: Andromeda. I'm only averaging about an hour a day of game time, so it's taking awhile to finish these. The first is about 20-25 hours long (great value for a $20 game!), and Andromeda is probably easily 35.

More Subnautica. I have 36 hours played, and I'm still totally in love with this game. The irony of it is that for $25, I basically got the experience I really wanted out of Star Citizen when I spent $250 for the Constellation package (and to support the dream, before the funding went through the roof). With my Cyclops submarine and my kitted-out Seamoth, I'm having an absolute blast just slowly exploring and building stuff up.

It's certainly early days yet, but Subnautica is a huge contender for my GOTY, and will consume my weekend if I have any say in the matter. I just don't want it to end too quickly!

Finished the 5th dungeon last night, so now I have a full party. So this weekend should be purely social linking and exposition. Hopefully I can finish off the couple of social links I have that have been hanging out at ranks 7 and 8 (out of 10) for a few weeks.

My thoughts exactly. And it wasn't on my radar at all at the start of the year.

Elite: Dangerous. I'm going to follow Maverickz approach and blast through the Road to Riches.
Titanfall 2 - Started it last week, but only managed the tutorial.
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc. I'm about to go to trial on the second murder. I really underestimated this game in the first couple of hours; it's a really solid murder-mystery/puzzle game.

Me too, might see you out there!

Good news: I played some Batman: TEW.

Now I need to play more.
