Whisky and Scotch Recommendations

I know we tend to focus on the higher end stuff but what's your go-to budget whiskey for a mixer? It's an area I'm kind of ignorant about. I gotta grab a bottle before the hockey game tomorrow though. Whiskey & Ginger is a bit safer and cheaper than going straight as I am likely to need a lot of it, lol.

I used to say Buffalo Trace, but that got hyped out of the price range. I guess Bulleit rye or Larceny next.

Old Grandad bonded or Old Forester 100 are both about 20$ and punch far above their weight.

I haven't noticed a price increase here. Still around $20 for 750 ml, and occasionally on sale for less. Local price for Bulleit has been steady in the high $20s to $30.

Buffalo Trace is usually $28-30 around here... when it's in stock.

Sally continues to be correct.

Or grab the liter of bulliet for $30.

I am with Sally and penguin. OF100 is outstanding for the price. Eagle Rare can be had around here for about $27. I used to tell everyone to try turkey 101 for bang for the buck. I would rather drink Old Forester now.

I think the only under $20 I have right now is Larceny at $19. Bulleit is right at $20.

Evan Williams Single Barrel for $33 is another great choice without breaking the bank.

Yeah, I moved over to Old Forester after touring their distillery, its less expensive and delicious.

It is National Bourbon Day! What are we drinking?

Opening a 1792 Bottled in Bond Barrel Pick as well as EH Taylor Small Batch. Not sure what follows. Might be a fun evening.

Woodford Reserve Distiller's Select. I've always liked Woodford's bourbon, but this is the first time I've gotten the select version.

I bought this on the same day I bought that Lagavulin Distiller's Edition last week. Both are quite tasty.

Have not had the Select. I usually have some of the Double Oak to represent the label. I am jealous of the Lagavulin. Great stuff.

Started with Evan Williams Small Batch. 1792 is next.

Thanks to my brother, I have recently been introduced to Japanese whiskies.

If you're less into the peaty malts, give them a try. My current tipple:

I am equal opportunity. I can peat, highland, lowland, Japanese and bourbon. Anything but Tennessee.
