WoW BHA Monday Night Crew - Ruby Sanctum Tonight 12/6! Farewell to WotLK

I'd be all over running some of the old school stuff.

Personally, my goal has been to see all of the content in as efficient manner as possible. Thus far I've seen most everything Azeroth has to offer, given my level. I've quested in nearly every zone and we've ran nearly every instance from 10-54. We didn't skip any did we?

Can we make tonight "help Eric be a better tank" night please? I need some more input from you guys. What am I doing wrong, where should I park the mob, yada yada...

I wish I had some sage advice to give, but other than the character I'm playing now I've really only played a ranged DPS class, where the only thing I really care about a tank is that he:
1) Doesn't die.
2) Holds aggro.

Both of which you are doing fine. And playing the healer, I can now add on:
3) Use your skills and gear yourself so that your health meter doesn't look like a yo-yo.

Which again, you are doing fine, although most of the content we've been hitting has admittedly not been too hard in that respect. When we are looking at harder content, though, you do want to make sure you are continuing to pay attention to where the healer is at, and if they are ready before starting a harder pull (in the case of a shaman healer, are the totems down and do you have an earth shield on you). You can definitely count on me to tell you if you are pulling before I'm ready (or on the other side of the coin, if you can safely pull multiple groups, etc), but in general making sure you develop a sixth sense for what your healer is up to couldn't hurt.

Again, though, I don't have much more to add, since I have no tanking experience, and no real melee DPS experience in groups (a melee DPS will care a LOT more about how the tank is moving and positioning in fights than a ranged DPS or a healer, since melee will have to adjust what they are doing almost every time you do).

So a general question about the primary goal for the group: is it just to level up to 80 as quickly as possible, or is it to experience group content along the way?

Either way for me, really. Since I didn't play before BC a lot of the level 60 content is either completely new to me, or is stuff I've only mindlessly soloed on my max level hunter, so hitting a few more of the old instances would be just fine by me, even if we are doing so into the low 60s. Obviously the Outlands instances would be much more profitable in terms of gear rewards, so that's fine to me as well, but I did all of them ad-nauseum back in BC so it's not like I'm dying to progress to that content.

So yeah, if you all are interested in busting our way up to 80 as fast as possible now that we are close, I can totally dig it, but I certainly wouldn't mind playing tourist either. I'll leave it up to you guys, though, since I've already got an 80 on this server.

Bwhaahahaha!

We had some tough times with out our navigator Cheeto this evening. We wiped a real healthy amount of times in Dire Maul West. It was a blast. It had been quite a while since we'd wiped in the past; we were due for an ass kicking.

I believe the general consensus was to reach about level 60 and try and run a few more vanilla dungeons before moving to Outland. If anyone else is interested in running Scholomance, Stratholme, or any other vanilla dungeons over the next two weeks, speak up, or hold your peace until the Great Furry Invasion.

Awesome run tonight guys!

Yeah I had fun even with the deaths and using up a bunch of regeants for Arcane Brilliance Was cool to do a new place that was challenging that no one in the group had any real knowledge of. Sorry I had to run before doing North wing. Did you guys do it anyway?

We tried the tribute run , but were not successful. I'd like to try it again though if everyone else is on board.

I'd be okay with that, but I'd also like to hit Strat, Scholo, and maybe LBRS before we drastically out-level them.

yep me too. Would it be possible perhaps to do two nights a week to cover all these? Instead of out of group leveling, only level via the group instances until we've completed the old content?

Well, as I was saying last night, starting tomorrow I've got a few weeks worth of house work and moving ahead of me -- it might actually be tough for me to even make next Monday.

I'll post again when I have a bit better idea of what our house work schedule is going to be like, though.

Rather than going two nights a week I think we should kick it down a notch for a week or two. For one it is a holiday weekend, and two we can give ZeroKFE a chance to get moved and settle in a bit. We'll keep our Monday schedule, but I won't be leveling outside of the group aside from the Midsummer stuff.
Don't take this as my interest in this waning at all though. Quite the opposite, in fact. May be nice for everyone to take a mid-summer breather so as not to get burned out before we hit Northrend.

Yeah that's cool. I forgot about the holiday weekend so this does make more sense. Hope all goes well with your move Zero!

Would it be possible for us to 10-man either of the 20-man classic raids? I think we could line up quite a few DKs or something from the guild given enough notice. Or maybe Zenke's group would be interested in running it with us since we're only about ~6-7 levels behind them.

Couldn't hurt to ask around.

I know Sluggoth has a 70 pally he has been asking to do some of the ~60 content with.

I'll start a thread a little later today to see how much interest there is. I'm thinking that if we have a few people in the later 60s and early 70s we shouldn't have a too much of a problem with ~10 people.

Well, there's a 65 dps DK who wants in on your "stab it til it dies" runs. You mind me hopping in on a larger run?

I am late to the party just like this week

So many things to touch... First I would say slow down and see the content. Its going to be changing with gear and items (it already has changed with gear and items) Vanilla content in my opinion was the cream of the crop...amazing...epic..and yes VERY long...VERY VERY long... but worth it. This is my opinion. I would be honored to tour guide you guys through stuff. I know instances like the back of my hand and love them all.

Brings me to subject 2. Tanking and Instancing. Lewis I know tanking very well..its what i did for raiding vanilla, BC, and Wrath. I have not siad anything becuase I already feel bossy with you guys, I take over and as you guys know turn into instance nazi and blab on and on and on about how things used to be and what it was like. Then I think afterwards....crap...they probably could care less about any of this and you just made youself look like a bossy brat. Which is why I have said nothing about tanking because i do not want you guys to hate me for being "THAT GUY". Now saying that...you are doing AMAZING with tanking...there are a few little "tweeks" I think could help and make things better and I will talk to you personally about them if you like. I am more of a sending tells kinda person, cause I do not like to embarass people on vent by calling them out or whatever. (I am weird I overthink everything)

Subject 3 Vanilla Raiding. This stuff is VERY easily done with half the people, if not less. That is saying at the correct level. If we have a few high levels helping us, you can even go less people. The content due to gear and spells and talents changing...were all made easy peezy. If we could form something like this I think it would be GREAT!!!! I am totally 100 percent willing to raid lead the stuff if you need it also. I know all the fights and everything. (you know I like being bossy!)

After hearing all this, I think I am going to pass on leveling anymore... I may hit 59 accidently from the summer stuff, but im going to hang back from leveling and hope to bust out BRS lower and upper, strat and scholo. Some of my favorites!

Okay im done... I think.

Nah, you're doing a great job as tour guide. If you want to see someone who never shuts up, just wait and see what it's like once we reach content I'm familiar with.

Speaking of which, we really need to run Kara at least once when we get to 70.

Personally, I'm going to aim for 60 (or close to it) for next time, and then stop. I want my HOT, damnit!

bossy brat

I can't wait til your tagging
Cheeto you've been an excellent asset to have along our ~10 week journey thus far. Don't be so damn sensitive man, we've been playing together for long enough that you needn't worry about being "that guy". I've been quite entertained by your Vanilla WoW "get-off-my-lawns". Its cool to hear how things have changed. Cheeto you are a walking WoW Wikia, please share. If you start blabbing too much I'll let you know.

As for the classic raids, if you (Cheeto) lead it, I'll herd the cats and get it organized.

Since we all seem to be in general agreement on running some of the vanilla stuff I'm thinking that I'll cap out at 60 and go pay my gold to the PvP guy to temporarily stop me from getting XP until we've had our fill of the raids.

Are you saying you want in on the weekly and on the raids? You are welcome to both. As long as you show up this time around ;). Although Rainsmercy has the final spot on reserve for our weeklies with his ~60 DK, but he seems to be pretty busy lately. I'll just make sure to give him first right or refusal.

I was just about to mention that you can turn off XP gain altogether, but ELewis beat me to it.

I don't mind either. I've burned out on 80+ weekly raiding but this sounds like fun. I'll try it out next Monday as I'll be moving on Saturday and probably won't have internet yet.

Drat, how do I gain 17 levels by Monday?

Just hit 62 last night with my DK....doing random dungeons mostly, with some questing as I gather herbs to sell. Starting to feel like a drug dealer....

I am mostly buttong mashing with him, but actually enjoying the content again. When BC first came out, I remember rushing through it trying to get to 70 as quick as I could.

If you can get to 60 in the next three weeks you'll be golden. I'll be online over the holiday weekend. Let me know if you'd like to run some randoms, as I've got a hunter at 45.

I am really stoked about this: ) I think we should stick to the Monday. Lets try/hope for ZG this coming Monday? or do you think the holiday weekend makes Monday bad? Opinions?

I was leaning towards Monday the holiday weekend not being good, but my wife just told me her friend wants her to go out to dinner with her, so I think I'm suddenly free on the 5th

Just a reminder that our Monday night progression will be on "hold" for a few weeks to explore Some of the vanilla end-game content. Feel free to join us here.

We really covered a lot of content last night. UBRS and Scholo really stood out, to me, as some pretty neat experiences. A shame we didn't consider how little time UBRS was going to take and run LRBS first, but it was a good time anyway.
Did anyone get any decent loot of note? I don't remember seeing much that wasn't just absurd vanilla stuff. I did replace my belt that I've been wearing for 20 levels (oops), but besides that loot was pretty minimal. I thought that UBRS was going to generate some purple items. Were we just unlucky, or am I mistaken?

Overall last night was a great time, and a very interesting history lesson. I believe that Strat is the only remaining 5-man we have left to complete to round out our vanilla 5-man runs.

Thanks guys for your continued commitment to Mondays. It has been a ton of fun thus far.

I got a neck piece and a healing totem. The neck piece will almost certainly be replaced quickly from Outland drops, but it might take a bit longer to find a better totem, so definitely not a total loss.

Yup, I believe so. Are we going to hold off on leveling again this week so we can do that next week, and maybe hopefully hit some of the 20 man stuff as well?

zeroKFE wrote:

Yup. I'm at 61, and have no intention of leveling anything besides by professions this week.

That's cool with me as well, I will work on getting Jhadis's herbalism up to Outlands level and then work on getting my pally alt Qazzi into the guild

I got good pants that were a nice upgrade, and I got a really cool looking wand in Scholo that was an upgrade. Then when we were resetting/training afterwards I handed in a quest in Outlands and got a wand that is 10 times better but looks like crap.

Looks like there are some purples that drop, but they have really low drop rates.

Thanks for the runs, though, it was a lot of fun and I enjoy Cheetoh's color commentary as we run through: "This used to be such a pain in the ass 5 years ago with 40 people! Oh, looks like we killed it in under 5 seconds..." LOL!
