SC2 Pro Tournament Discussion

So I'm just catching yesterday's GSTL match between Fnatic and TSL. Just finishing up game 5. This has been a fun match so far. Quick note that, maybe not worth watching if you don't like lotsa Zerg in your SC2

Also interesting: Moon seems to be for real now that he's gone 100% into SC2.

Don't forget that MLG Anaheim/Spring Championship kicks off tonight, plus Kespa SC2 invitational and HotS info!

Haven't watched the last couple of MLGs. They have really upped the quality of their stream interface. Also, gonna go ahead and pick Stephano to win it.

I wish they'd just drop the Swarm Host for the Lurker. It just looks so lame.

It shouldn't be surprising to me that this feels totally epic even with the awkwardness, but there's something super interesting about all the KESPA players getting introduced at MLG.

What a great moment.

*Jaedong's creep spread

*Flash played game one against Stork with half his keyboard broken. Still won. The meme almost writes itself, doesn't it?

I didn't hear about the KESPA games until two days ago... Was this being made a big deal of and I just missed it? Just caught these now but I'm excited to see Bisu play.

They've been hyping this for at least a month or two, and were hinting at it (not very subtly) for a long time before that. If you didn't know about it until two days ago you just weren't paying attention

Just caught Flash v SoulKey. Damn, these guys are looking good.

In case anybody missed the recent community outrage fun, it was recently revealed that Spades was almost guaranteed to be hacking. Again. You know, since he'd already done it back in Broodwar.

He says he didn't. People analyzed replays and basically said he's full of crap, but he's still on a team and he still got sent to MLG.

The result:

Sometimes Idra can still be amusing. Rarely, but it happens.

Flash's macro is out of control.

I want Jaedong and Flash in the finals. Flash is in. Jaedong just needs to take out Bisu for this to suit me perfectly.

It won't be as awesome as Stephano/MKP was, but these guys are playing some pretty solid SC2 despite their relative lack of time with the game.

The queen is supposed to be home, barefoot and pregnant. I'm sorry if that offends you guys.

Also: Jaedong

*So... Alicia. Did not see that coming.

No kidding on the Alicia thing. He is just playing straight up great!

Man, oh man, if you haven't been to a live MLG event you need to get your butt out to one. I ran across HiRez Bart, the T:A caster Link (and hung out with those two for a while), a bunch of SC2 players, Day[9], and it's basically a little nerdvana where you can talk to just about anyone about the game(s) they love. The fighting games crowd was tiny but incredibly enthusiastic and you could hear their cheers in the entire hall, the LoL crowd cheers for anything and are super into the game, and the SC2 crowd is reserved but gives earth shaking roars when something key happens in a game.

I split my time between attending MLG and seeing some people I know in the area, but it was completely worth heading out there and watching the matches. The KeSPA games were admittedly rough, though Flash actually looked very solid which surprised me. The KeSPA players displayed great personality and were really engaging for the crowd, too, which I thought was great.

I almost drove down and did the same spend some times and go to the grand finals day... but in the end didn't, kind of wish I had. Sounds like it was fun!

Man, some great games from this past week in Code S and GSTL.

The Naniwa/Thorzain groups are both inherently more interesting than they might otherwise be, and the team league keeps the surprising results coming.

Also: Moon. Definitely for real.

Game 3 of Ret vs SaSe @ Dreamhack is a must watch!

Spoiler:

It's one of those "he's so dead I'm just going to turn off the stream"-situations that somehow gets turned around.

Code S... following the reverse all-kill of Incredible Miracle in GSTL, Symbol is now boss mode.

Yeah. He's playing almost unbelievably well. That last code S group was a doozy.

Looks like the MLG Summer arenas are not going to be PPV events, but free ones. Nice. Also, I'm so glad I don't have to deal with things like this, haha!

It gets quite ridiculous towards the middle/end.

Guys. Hey guys. HEY GUYS. WATCH TSL vs NSHOSEO.

Seriously.

OMFG that is unreal!!!

The Homestory Cup finals have been pretty laughably one sided. Nerchio is currently destroying Yonghwa in game 5, to make it an almost inevitable 4-1 victory.

Also, the 480p stream quality is garbage. It's like watching GSL's low quality.

Why are you watching the 480p? I'm watching the 720p all weekend long, free. Looks good, gets a bit pixelated when they move the camera abruptly but it's not a big deal.

It kept lagging and stuttering.

Switch over to other streams on twitch and watch higher framerate 1080p with no issues.

Don't know what the deal was. Doesn't matter now though, as it's over anyway.

Standard for twitch. Random lag even on low res for some streams while running others at 1080 with no problem.

I watched the 720 stream this weekend with no issues. It was a nice event, but a lot of games were very ... meh...

Tried to watch a bit of the NASL finals. 480p stream keeps pausing for about half a second once every thirty seconds or so. IMO, unwatchable.

And the event is still rather mediocre looking so there's pretty much zero chance of me paying them money even if the higher res streams are fine.

Sad that even after all this time NASL is still such a big bucket of meh.

That's on Twitch, not NASL. This year season was awesome and the finals so far are great, imo. Especially the Idra - Incontrol WCS stream.

You keep blaming it on twitch, but there's other streams on regularly with just as many viewers where I can watch any resolution I want and have no issues. Really hard for me to blame twitch when it's the same events over and over that have these problems.

Also, their presentation is still incredibly mediocre, and they still don't know how to balance sound levels this many seasons in. It's just pathetic.

It is twitch, I have no problems with the streams. And I have all three of them open. It's just them being bad and sometimes they have random lag, sometimes they don't. There are times when I can't watch a 360p stream with no viewers (or absurd amount of them). They just have bad infrastructure and don't keep up with the growth of the viewerbase.
