Let the games begin!

Texas at Tampa Bay, bottom of 1st, no score. I like the Rangers in Game 1. Let's hope my MLB Predictions are better than my NFL ones......................

*EDIT*
Of course, bases are now loaded vs Cliff Lee. Super.

*EDIT 2*
Lee strikes out both Pena and Baldelli.

Go Rangers!!!

I picked Texas to win in 4, if they keep hitting the way they are, it might go in 3.

Listening to the Rangers game on my zune at work - it is incredibly frustrating to have the biggest game(s) of the year played in the middle of the stinking work day.

On top of that, the game is on TBS, so I can't pick it up on my TV tuner card and to listen over the web via MLB, you have to subscribe to something. Soooo frustrating.

Rangers are looking good so far, tho 5-0 thru 6.5...Lee has really pitched well after the 2nd.

I'm listening at my desk as well. I was able to watch the first 4.5 innings. My boss took me to lunch at the country club he belongs to so we could see some of the game.

Ballgame! Rangers take the first game of the series!

What a HUGE win for them!! Now just win 2 of 4 and you're on to the ALCS.

If they're able to keep the bats hot, they should have a great shot.

So how's that whole plaid thing working for you, Joe Maddon?

I'm pretty pumped for Texas. I'm not really picking the to go all the way, as much as rooting for them to make some noise. I don't think TB can keep up with them over a short series. TB will go cold too often, and Texas just hits. And I don't think the Rangers bullpen and rotation are too shabby. I thin they are built for post-season. they just need a bit more seasoning to really count on them.

But anything could happen. That was a definite statement today.

Ugh. Was at the game. Defense and pitching, are two strongest things this season sucked. Lee Is the Rangers strongest pitcher, the Rays were making contact a lot but those hits were going right to the OF. If we don't get hits though, it is over.

Just so you know, the Bizzaro world now means Shields is going to do well tomorrow.

If I was going to bet on someone getting no-hit in the playoffs, it would have had to been the Rays. Can't say that I am sad to see the Reds in their pure futile glory, though.

Sorry, Karma. Sucks to get jacked up for a playoff game and then have them lay a stinker. I've been there.

Words cannot sufficiently paint the picture of my hatred for the friggin' Phillies.

The Giants just announced their postseason roster. As expected, no Barry Zito and not so expected no Jose Guillen.

Are the Rangers that good or the Rays that bad?

The Rangers are better than advertised (I've been praising CJ Wilson since this time last year), and the Rays are better but have had two bad games. Happened probably 15 other times this season. This is just a badly timed rough patch. Strange how you can go from the sexy pick to verge-of-elimination in less than 24 hours.

Joe Maddon also made two pretty boneheaded moves (three if you count the ejection). Starting Shields second is the first. He's had his worst year in the majors, and it's not like he scuffled early and had a good stretch run. He had four or five pretty bad September starts.

Second is Chad Qualls. I have personal experience with Mr. Qualls, as he did me no favors as the Diamondbacks' closer for a good portion of the season. I got him out of town before they did, with his 8+ ERA, but not soon enough.

Conclusion after two games: any lineup can have two bad games in a row, but being overly invested in your veteran pets isn't good for a manager.

Hard to believe the Rangers are a game away from winning their first ever post season series.

In the past, I would still be expecting the worst, but this year just feels *different*...

Hopefully I didn't just jinx them.

Yeah, baseball needs to go with computerized home plate umpires.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

What can I say? The Rangers want it more and the Rays aren't pitching or hitting well. The Rangers certainly deserve it at this point and it will be very difficult for the Rays to win 3 in a row and impossible the way they are playing.

My only hope is they bring this same game against the skankees if they win also.

Wait, wait. Not homery enough. Let me try that again:

FTFY.

My father and brother are Yankees fans. Go Texas! That way, if the Phillies lose the WS, I don't feel so bad.

14 strikeouts doesn't help but when a blown call becomes the sole rbi of the entire game I think it's a valid arguement.

The Reds were the best shot at preventing the Phillies from heading back to the World Series? It's looking more likely that they'll run the table decisively.

Time to panic.

Braves doing what they do best. Playing like sh*t the first 8 innings and storming back.

I hope Wagner's injury doesn't come to haunt them. Though Kimbrell has looked good, he is still a rookie and I don't trust Farnsworth.

The injury bug has really bitten the Braves this season. I'll consider this season a success no matter the outcome of this postseason, but it'll be hard not to wonder what might have been had their disabled list not been so full.

He's off the roster. Still, Atlanta has the best home record in the league this past season; advantage and momentum to the Braves right now.
