Everyone has a game this week except for Rutgers (Kush15). I guess they are still celebrating in New Brunswick for breaking into the top 25. Dont' forget to get your recruiting in and the deadline for this week is Monday 7am, September 27th.

Also welcome aboard Jayhawker, HansomB1derful and DSGamer!

Man, Handsome, Michigan is racking up the commits. You (and the CPU) are kicking my butt on many fronts.

I'm hoping to get my game in tonight. Gotta' wash away the defeat from last night!

Wow, love how that pitch bounced off the helmet of your FB before rattling around a bit and ending up in the defenders clutches!

Well, I decided to be first out of the gate again this week. Maybe I should have taken some time to gameplan ISU. Instead, I turned what was probably the worst half of football I have ever played into a big 45-32 loss.

I gave up a TD in Iowa State's first possession. Then, as I am inside the five I decide to get trick and run a playaction, even though Quigley (13 carries for 64 yards) had been running wild the whole drive. That turned into a sack, fumble, and a 93 yard return for a TD. In the second quarter, I blew an option play that ISU returned for a 73 yard TD.

I got out of the first half down 28-0. Webb (29-54 463 3 TDs 4 INTs) proceeded to throw an INT on my first drive of the second half, leading to a ISU FG. So I began my comeback down 31-0.

Webb got hot, throwing three TD passes. Keeston Terry (12 catches for 203 yards), my freshman WR, went nuts, catching two of them. I upped my aggression in the second half, and was able to pick off two ISU passes, and returned one for a TD. I also picked up a fumble.

Unfortunately, that aggression also led to a missed tackle on a pretty simple run play that became a 79 yard TD run.

I'm happy I made a game of it, but that was just a gut wrenching loss on the road to a bad team.

Count me as 2nd done this week, my recruiting is done. Very sad to force myself to axe a couple of recruits I put many hours of time into, and yielding little or no return on my investment. Sometimes you just have to rip the bandaid off, and move on. It pinches for a second or two, but then you move on and forget about it.

I will call my recruiting a success if I can grab six 4-star recruits, so far I have 4 with a soft commit from a 5th.
The 6th one will be the tough one, as I am in a battle with 2 owners..........................but I beat one of them last week, and said player was at the game

Thanks again Shag for the free recruiting!

Despite posting the highlight videos damage ISU did to me, I didn't love it so much.

Too many turnovers to win, really. But it was a road game with a freshman QB. It's what should have happened. But I am going to make Colorado pay big time next week. Hopefully.

I feel the same way. Louisville is in for a hurting this week.

I know, I know...I almost feel bad about it.

Does anyone know how the off season recruiting works? I noticed it sort of changes the save file for the in season stuff, do we all have to be online at the same time for the offseason?

I played my game. 42-3 win.

These WAC games are so easy, it's almost like cheating. I just ran the clock out in the second half to finish quicker.

2nd play of my game.

Denard Robinson, fractured foot, out for the season.

I guess I'll see how good Gardner is earlier than expected.

wow...That was embarrassing.

I got worked over. I could do nothing on offense or defense. That was not fun.

I needs to get my legs under me quickly.

ND beats Tulsa 41-24. However, it was much closer than the score might lead you to believe. Tulsa played a tough game. We were tied at 14 after the first quarter. ND had the lead 21-17 at the half.

My defense rose up during the second half. Tulsa tied the game again at 24 by the end of the third quarter, but this was completely my fault. I had two TEs running crossing patterns over the middle. One was WIDE open. The other was covered by a DE in zone. I got excited and threw to the covered player, and the DE ran it in for a TD. That was Tulsa's only score of the second half.

Even so, I struggled a bit during the third quarter. In the fourth quarter I broke things open, scoring 17. One of those was garbage time after Tulsa turned it over on downs late in the 4th.

Dayne Crist (QB) had a nice game, throwing for 282, 3TDs, 1 INT. Armando Allen rushed 28 times for 174 yards, including two >20 yard runs. 7 different receivers caught passes. I only punted once.

Hmmm. I have a bye next week (so get your games in fast!), but then Utah (6-1) comes to town. Should be fun.

If I counted correctly, we got 6 games in yesterday. I might have to play my Week 9 game BEFORE my weekend vacation. Sweet!

I should be able to get my game in on Wed.

Pitts crushes Lousiville 56-20. Dion Lewis had another impressive game as he runs for 151 yards and 5 TDs. He also caught one pass for 6 yards. Louisville came guns a blazing. Scoring on their first possesion, trying to calm the crowd at Heinz Field. Pitt finally came to life in the second quarter and coasted the rest of the way.

The Louisville kicker, Chris Philpott, boomed a 60 yard field goal in second quarter with room to spare. Adam Froman threw for 327 yards and two scores in the loss for the Cardinals.

Pittsburgh is off next week before they travel to Connecticut to face the Huskies.

Guard Prospect, Chris Johnson, was not impressed with Boise State's 42-3 drubbing of LTU. He said quote, "I thought the score could have been higher, and they seemed to just coast in the second half. I was hoping to see 100 points scored, and that just didn't happen today. Plus red is my favorite color, it's very pretty."

When asked about Johnson's comments, Rutgers AD, Chris Kushnier, was reported as saying, "He said the word 'pretty'? Boise St can have him".

And this just in, Pittsburgh plans to reveal their new RED jerseys for the 2011 season.

Wow. Lots of picks. I won, but I can't be as brazen as I have been on Varsity.

Did you get him? I spent most of last week bad-talking you!

DSGamer wrote:

I'll second that man.

I think I was only picked once, but it was crushing. I was making a bit of a comeback in the third quarter. I stopped them, scored, then stopped them again. I was driving again...but not for long. I held them to field goals for the rest of the game but I could not get back into the endzone.

I had a ton of balls batted down though, many of them could have been picked.

I'm going to have to adjust to this, I foolishly went for it on fourth a little earlier than I should have, but other than that I couldn't figure out what to change.

Does anyone else run the spread? I wondered if maybe a more traditional playbook would have worked out better. They were in my face for most of the game.

It will be a fight between you two. I am out of the running.

I run a spread with ND. How good is your TE? Look for short TE or WR crossing patterns. The trick is to throw it at a time when a D-lineman isn't likely to bat it down.

Also, this game actually does screens and draws pretty well, as in you can actually run them to good effect. Work those often. In those cases you're inviting them to come upfield.

Also, don't be afraid to run out of a one back set or call a QB draw. They work as well as the traditional I-formation for me. Two TEs for blocking, and the defense can't read your FB.

I'm kicking myself for the end of my game against TheCounselar...I was on the 7 yard line with time for only one play. I should have called a draw play. My RB had been gaining about 7 or 8 yards a pop during the night, mostly on draws. But, I got pass happy since I was in that mode having just driven down the field in under a minute. If I had any sense, I would have thought about the play call more carefully.

That may have worked. I didn't even consider the possibility that you would run the ball. Thanks for not taking that extra time to think.

By the way, I'd be up for a rematch exhibition anytime.

Funny, I did the same about Boise St, lol. It will be a tighter race now that you thrashed LTU. Who ever gets him, earned him, having two other owners going full tilt after him.

I'll get my game(s) in tonight. I'll have to boot my brother-in-law off his (my spare) Xbox since the one in the living room won't read discs right now.

Looks like Hoppa and Redhwk are playing their games tonight. The last man standing is Gdawg/Shonuff.

Let's try and get this week done early.

Let's try and get this week done early. :)

If we can get the last 3 games played tonight and we roll, I will get my Week 9 game in before my Pittsburgh trip on Friday afternoon. If not, it will have to wait until Monday afternoon.

So no pressure.

*EDIT*
1 down, 2 to go, Shonuff got his in.

Heading off to get my game started now.

Man, I wish there were a way to view only the human controlled schedule from the website. It'd be nice to be able to keep up that way.

Ugh, such an ugly game, wet, cold, turnovers and sacks a plenty.

We have our SS Nate Williams to thank for the win. Over the course of two plays in the 4th quarter he scooped up and returned a fumble for a TD. Then intercepted Stanford QB Andrew Luck's very next pass to really turn the tide in our favor.

I really need to get my sacks given up under control, gave up another 9 this game. They were really blitzing me hard, I probably should've been mixing in a few more screens and draws I suppose.

And then there was 1..........

Today was just not the day to be playing football. I couldn't stop the run to save my life in NCAA or Madden. No way I'm getting a BCS bid now.
