Walkie talkie and accessories

My fellow GWJ'ers.... I am a dork!!! while this should come as no surprise to anyone it does explain why I'm about to ask for some assistance.

Does anyone have any recommended walkie-talkie brands and ear headsets / throat microphones.

My desire to own these items stems from the odd notion of being able to communicate while i play paintball with my core group of friends (4 of us total), so i need a setup where i can run any wiring under my outfit to protect it from paint, as well as a convenient push to talk remote that i could have somewhere on my wrist/marker so i can talk when i want to, and an ear piece that can fit underneath the padding of my mask so it doesn't hurt after wearing for extended periods of time.

initial investigations point me at these but I'm not that impressed.

I have a pair of older Motorola FRS/GMRS and with the ear/mouthpieces, they would totally work. Not sure how you'd work the wrist thing. Oh, and FRS/GMRS will give you a huge combination of channels so you can't be found in the spectrum by your opponents. But the big deal is that you need a Federal license to operate this kind of unit. It's not expensive, and it lasts for years, but you do need one.

my main concern is finding something that will fit comfortably with the mask i wear since the mask has some over the ear padding that will effectively prevent me from wearing an over the ear headset.

I would have thought that a larger problem is finding something small enough to not be too bulky, but is also robust enough to survive crawling through the undergrowth, let alone a direct hit by a paintball.

I had a pair of Motorola walkie-talkies a few years ago that lasted precisely half a snowboarding trip. One good fall at speed and it was toast.

Still, I had a comically walkie-talkie shaped bruise on my ribs for a few weeks

a good point, i think as long as it's under clothing it should survive paintball hits, the real problem would be the crawling around and diving into bunkers.
