Vindictus Beta

I've just picked thus up again, look for Swizard on the west server.

The new class seems like a lot of fun, a little squishy, but fun.

So how does one go about getting this game? Their main website doesn't play nice with No-Script. I can't get anything to load except about half of the pictures.

You can get the downloader here or the client here.
You'll need to sign up here.

They want you to launch their game through their website (it only puts a link to their website on the desktop and start menu), but you don't have to visit the website at all once it's installed. Just go to the folder it's in (C:\Nexon\Vindictus\en-US by default) and create a shortcut to the exe. There's no option to remember either the username or the password that way, but at least you won't have to deal with the website.

Downloaded this, played about an hour. Very strange mix of game styles. Does it want to be a cutscene driven J-Style RPG? Or a console brawler (combat)? Both?

That combat system...I decided to play a Fiona, one because I heard the graphics were good, so why not look pretty, and two, because I am used to playing tanks.

Fiona's aren't really tanks. They are more like shield carrying wrecking balls. A target can be smacked, thrown, kicked, and generally manhandled in all sorts of ways.

I do not know if the combat system is enough to stick around. Maybe if it were on a console.

I still think its impressive that it showcases what can be done with the Source engine.

Wait: this is the SOURCE engine?

You got to be kidding me.

You can shield slap an enemy. Curb stomp him when he's down. Then pick him up, throw him.

As a combo.

Yep pretty impressive for an old engine.

I'm still playing. I'm on the east server though. Tarantella & Stengah are my characters, and I've made a guild (a very creatively named Mercs with Jobs). The guild system is a bit backwards though, I can't invite anyone unless they're on (and I'm not even sure about that), but people can send requests to join the guild anytime they want (just search for the guild name in the guild menu, and send a request).

I sent you a join request.

I just started playing this last week and I'm having a blast. It's perfect for playing an hour or two here and there. I'm playing on the East server and have gotten my Lann up to level 15 or so. Just started the second area, the hollows or something or other. Name's Kehama on there as well.

The only bug I seem to have with the game is that I can access the marketplace as soon as I log into the game but if I exit the marketplace and try to open it again I just get a black screen. Same thing with the help screen. Really annoying.

I just came across this a few days ago and have been really enjoying this game! Any Goodjer's still playing it shoot me a pm

Goldensly, Dyvinity : West Server

I'm still playing. I'm on the east server. Character I'm usually using is named Rangel.

I play on occasion. I made a character of each class. East server: Pheeona, Eveille, Ydrage

heh figures you'd both be on the east servers. If I make a new build on the east server, I'll let you know

Vindictus is now on Steam as well.

Gonna try it out, was intrigue, but not enough to get it thru nexon directly.

Well, that makes things easier...when I went to install it, Steam threw an error saying "You don't have a subscription"!

Editedified:

Huh. Restarted Steam, and it installs just fine.
