Poker Night at the Inventory - Featuring The Heavy, Tycho, Strong Bad and Max

Anyone know if we can get the TF2 items in this game after the summer sale is over?

The TF2 items have always been unlockables in this game, in fact, they're probably the game's biggest selling point. So I would imagine so.

Ah, that's awesome. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't mixed up with the summer sale insanity.

Yeah the summer thing was just the 6-9. Took me about 3 games to get it. Although I went all-in on a couple of bad hands when those cards were on the table and just didn't get lucky.

This might be Poker Night related or might not but I didn't want to start a new thread for a vague teaser.

So, some items added in a recent TF2 update hinted at another Poker Night game. Telltale has a website up (thekeyparty.com) that hints at an announcement of some type on April 1st with "guests" starting to arrive on March 25th.

Sidenote: I'm amazed that thekeyparty.com was available and not a website dedicated to swinging.

All the key part guests have arrived:

It's definitely Poker Night at the Inventory 2. Screenshots leaked last week showing Sam, Brock Sampson, Claptrap and Ash as players with GLaDOS in the background.

I liked the original quite a bit for all the dialog and stuff, but man do I not want to play any more video poker.

Yeah, I'm disappointed that it's another poker game. I was hoping that the "key party" theme would mean it was a bunch of different games or something.

Or at least different types of Poker. Depending on price I'm in on this one, although I really hope the AI is less spastic this time around.

And it's official.

The sequel to 2010's Poker Night at the Inventory, will star Claptrap from Borderlands, Brock Samson from The Venture Bros., Sam from Sam & Max, and Ash from Evil Dead/Army of Darkness. Even better? Portal's GlaDOS is dealing every game.

Yeah BL2 faces and skins... oh boy.

Tie-ins for TF2 and Borderlands 2? I'm there.

Yup, I'm a poor shell of a man.

I'm going to wait on this one until we know if the AI is improved. It was so painfully bad before that I was sick of playing well before I had finished acquiring all of the TF2 items.

More information on Telltale's website: includes Omaha variant, location changes (no longer stuck at The Inventory), and a gallery of all the unlocks.

Pre-order is up Only $5.

Free copy of the first game that you can gift too.

I don't dislike anyone that badly. Maybe Quintin Stone, but I think he already has it.

Don't buy Poker Night 2. It's just frustrating. There's no way to adjust the dialog frequency like in the first game and it starts repeating very quickly. There are long, unskippable conversations some of which don't even let you continue playing until they're over. To unlock items you have to complete three challenges and then win a tournament. That doesn't sound too bad...until you get a challenge that's entirely based on luck. I've been on the same challenge for ten tournaments and haven't even been in a situation where I can complete it. Even at $5 this is a terrible followup to the first game.

edit: There was what I think was supposed to be a Brisco County Jr. joke but it's not even Bruce Campbell so what's the point?

What is with sequels that have less options? Especially if you're not building a totally new engine for it, it makes no sense at all to remove things that were in the first game.

Saw this thread on my recent posts, came here hoping things might be different from the first game - d'oh. Thanks for the update.

Yeah, I picked this up for XBLA, and its pretty bad. They would be better off making it MP only and using the characters, or at least GLADOS, as dealers/commentators. Reduce the dialogue, but make it fun to play with friends.

I kind of miss the old WPT licensed game. It had issues, like terrible blind structures, but they actually did a decent job a using the WPT commentary to make the game a little interesting when playing online.

But for fake poker, Microsoft's Full House Poker is pretty darn good. I'm anxious to see if the new one coming out soon, licensed with WSOP, will make some improvements.

Since the Steam sale thread was out of control, replying over here to this exchange:

Well thanks to jonfentyler for the surprise Poker Night 2. I was busy actually playing a game and didn't see the 9pm deals pop up.

Now to get my Borderlands 2 unlocks!

That's certainly the trick, Brock Samson has kicked my butt repeatedly in the final few hands. I mean come-on, I have Ace/King in hand and he wins with 4 deuces!? Bullsh*t :D.
I have a prediction:

Spoiler:

Ash will be the first to go out and Samson will be the last player other than you.

Turns out nothing even close. Played 1 game of Hold 'Em and lost. Don't remember the order exactly. Then switched to Omaha. Won, won, lost, won, lost, won, won. Ridiculous streak. And Brock was the first or second out every single game of Omaha. I was final table with Claptrap on 5 of my wins. Last one was Sam.

Also, it is very disturbing when you're all-in with Sam and he pulls out his gun.

Got all 5 (10) unlocks in a Steam-reported 6 hours of playtime. Could be a little less if I didn't alt-tab so much between hands to read forums, check Steam card drops, whatever.

Omaha seems to be the way to go.
