PAX West - Sunday night games at Chez Jonman

Pages

Dear Seattle-bound, PAX-attending Goodjers,

I'm offerring up my house, 9 miles north of Seattle, as a venue for a Sunday evening post-PAX Slap'n'Tickle. Boardgames, Rock Band and booze are the order of the evening. I'd love to have as many of you come round and play some games with the me, the wife and the Goodjer collective.

Given that I've just bought the place, and aren't planning on moving any time soon, this could potentially be the 1st Annual Post-PAX Game-a-thon @ Chez Jonman

I'm working an Enforcer shift at PAX on Sunday afternoon, so we won't be kicking off until 7:30PM, when I can get home.

Can I get a show of hands to see if there's enough folks interested to go ahead? I'll send out exact details of the address and my phone number by PM to all interested parties sometime next week, so please post in this thread so I know who to send the info out to....

******************
Details:
Where: My house is 3 blocks from the N 145th St exit off I-5. Google maps puts it at 9 miles from PAX itself. If you're car-less, there's a bus-stop 0.3 miles from PAX (at Olive & Terry, route ST 511, $2 fare) that will drop you at my freeway exit, and it's a 5 minute walk to my place from there.
When: Sunday 5th September, 7:30 - late

Me and Clover would be in for some fun and meeting!

I'm in. I'm PAXing with a friend who's probably going to tag around with me wherever I go. Is space/stranger-danger an issue, or is a +1 acceptable?

Space is not an issue - it's a pretty spacious house. Stranger danger isn't an issue - I mean, *you're* a stranger to me, right?

Seriously though, I'm assuming that Goodjers aren't douchebags, and by association, that their non-goodjer friends aren't douchebags either.

Sounds like fun, I'm definitely interested.

I'm not douchey! count me in.

I'm an asshat but not a douche. Am I still allowed to attend?

Yes, but only if you are actively being worn on someone's ass.

If you can find someone to hold my 280 lb self, you're on.

Sounds like fun. As long as the way to get to-from is easy enough. The bus system shuts down pretty early. What would be the best way for all the various goodjers (probably drunk ones at that) to get back to hotels downtown?

Good point. I've just checked the bus timetable, and the last bus leaves at 10:30.

The internet estimates that a taxi back downtown will run around $30, which split between 3 or 4 folk sharing a ride seems reasonable.

Anyone driving to/from and willing to carpool?

I *may* be able to only drive two people back to hotels, because two of my other seatbelts are broken. Keep in mind that my offer to drive people back is going to be on my schedule. I intend to get my drink on at some point and I'm very much anti drinking & driving, so if you're going to get a ride from me expect it could be quite later than you may have hoped.

I'm also bringing Battlestar Galactica (YESSSSS I found it in a bag in my closet + a bunch of other games), so if you're going to get a ride from me expect it could be quite later than you may have hoped.

Edit: honestly, though, I wouldn't rely on me unless you need a last-ditch effort to get back and you have no other options. I'd like to think I'm reliable and dependable, but if there's drinking involved I may just play it safe and hand my keys over to jonman because there's a good chance my judgment will go out the window.

Sunday evening may be doable for the podcast crew, except that might be when we need to podcast. i think we all leave Monday.

Hey Rabbit why not podcast from there? I'm sure Corona's can be arranged!

Sadly i'm stuck in LA so i will not be attending the slap and tickle or the post S&T,

Possible, Jonman hasn't proffered an invitation, and I don't want to presume to hijack his game night.

a valid point, heh let him join the podcast i'm sure that would make everything okay

We have an entire empty mother-in-law podcasting studio in the basement.

To be honest, my goal in this thing is to get Goodjers together having a good time. Games were my first thought, but live podcast audience also works just fine. I'm also assuming that like me, the rest of the folks who would be coming would rather have the podcast crew in attendance than not at all. If that means you disappear downstairs for an hour (with or without the live audience), then so be it.

Also, did I mention that the basement has it's own beer fridge?

Where do you keep the scotch?

In the murder closet wine cellar. Let me show you....

I really want to participate.. I've been around GWJ for like 4 years.. it's time to prove that I'm not a girl.
(that came out totally wrong)

Everybody! Keep track of your kidneys!

Jonman isn't after your kidneys; it's a new liver he needs.

any chance of a live show?

Man - wish I could stick around for the evening. Sounds like it will be an epic showing of some theoretically cool people, maybe. I'll keep my eyes on local news in case the news at 11 piece concerns a grisly group murder 9 miles North of the city.

You should probably keep track of your kidneys too, just to be safe.

Fair point. And watch out for your pancreas and testicles while you're at it.

I'll try to be there, possibly with at least one houseape. I'm still getting my marching orders, but tearing down the Press Room isn't going to take too long. I'll have to see about CFP.

Is there anything I should/would be cool if I brought?

Well, speaking out of turn, an 8:30 PM pacific live show isn't out of the question, if there's easily accessible internet. Shawn's already told me I have to bring the ridiculously heavy bag of sh*t for the event.

I dunno about you guys, but if I were Jonman i would be thinking twice about having the podcasters come to the S&T if they are bringing bags of sh*t, let alone heavy ones.

There's easily accessible internet. It's a DSL line that's fast enough to stream non-HD stuff on Netflix, so I'm reckoning that should be plenty enough bandwidth. Wifi signal strength in the basement might be a bit suspect, but if that's the case, we just move the show upstairs to the lounge, shutdown the Rock Band for the duration of the show, and cable up to the router.

This advice goes for everyone - if you want to drink alkeyhol, bring some. We'll have some, but not enough for everyone. I'm a fan of pot luck on the booze front. We'll provide soft drinks, snacks and a selection of tea wide enough to moisten the knickers of an english gran.
Also bring whatever games you want. We have a selection of board games (catan + expansions, dominion + expansions, blokus, puerto rico, tigris & euphrates, gloom, scrabble, super boggle, and a few more), but more is always welcome.
There's also a Wii and a 360, so if you have a game you want to play with everyone, bring it. Don't bother brining music games - we have many (RB2, RB: Beatles, Lego RB, GH: Van Halen, GH: Metallica).
We only have 3 controllers for each console (and only 2 USB mics), so if a local person could bring one 360 controller, one Wii controller, and a third USB mic, we'll have the full complement.

We have a big compost bin. Not a problem.

I wish I could make it out. This sounds super fun. Until I saw this thread, I was positive that this was going to be the GWJ slap and tickle http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/ca...
