Jagged Alliance 2 remake in 3D by bitComposer

Between this and the XCOM game from Firaxis I'm pretty much in nerd heaven right now. All that's left is for someone to announce a Fallout Tactics remake.

I saw Edwin's tweet of this this morning.
WOW what an awesome new twist.

Yes please. I love me some fallout tactics. Crap. Now I'm going to have to go play it again. :p

Loved that game, was a surprisingly fun game multiplayer too. Played it a lot with my brother, we'd just make characters to counter one another, his dude in heavy armour to take out my sniper, my guy with RPG to take out his heavy armour guy, his dog to rip open my RPG guy.

Then I made a level 50ish person with something ridiculous like 300% unarmed skill and power armour who just kicked people in half.

I use to have fun with single player modding. I'd make it so that my main character was a deathclaw with 16 in all SPECIAL stats. I'd just sneak and gore everyone.

The videos are GREAT!! especially the GT one . I think that I'll preorder the game when I get home. I was on the fence for a while but according to what I've seen in the video the devs did a good job.

I'm a fan of JA2 and I like this gameplay style. I recently found my copy of Silent Storm Gold (costs 100$ today ) and I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm also playing XCOM : UFO defense on my new cellphone(Razr xt910 I got from work) using anDosbox(the payed app of dosbox). There is also a JA2 version for Android and I may check it out soon :).

It looks really great but.. I dunno, the enemies really act dumb there. They get shot, they just.. stand there till they get gunned down. Or if they get out of fire zone, they face a different direction. I'd settle for no complex flanking maneuvres but I really would like the enemies to search for cover and utilize it. Really hope it gets polished a bit and also hope that it's easy enough to mod so that after a year I can play a really mean game of JA

Maybe I should spend the $5 and get Commandos 3.

I know you mean that as a diss of JA3, but seriously, get Commandos 3.

The demo for this came out today. I played it and then pre-ordered. I think it'll be fun, but I didn't play the original. Plus, it's a pretty good pre-order discount on Steam.

Is there a steam demo?

I want these games on iOS, not PC.

Yes, it looks like there is now. Wasn't earlier.

QFT.

Although PC is acceptable, this type of game would work very well on an iPad. Or just port JA2 and X-COM to iOS and I'll never need to buy another game again.

This demo is kicking my ass up and down the jungle. I must be missing something.

Same here. I feel like I'm doing something wrong.

I had some stick time with it and wrote a preview for it. Armchair General should have it up this week. In the end the lack of fog of war killed it for me, as did the camera. Also, there is such a missed opportunity to reinterpret this in our modern era of Blackwater-esque private military contractors, the whole thing seems tone deaf and awkward. I'd go play the 1.13 mod of the original.

If someone doesn't want the TF2 Promo items, then please let me know

Glad I am not the only one that is getting my ass kicked.

Awesome. Going to grab the steam demo tonight and give this a go over the weekend.

Steam's not letting me download the demo.

My Steam was showing a grayed out Download Demo button. I restarted and now there is no button. I'm guessing they pulled the demo?!

Just finished the demo, really liked it.

I'm really close to breaking my own rule of not buying single player games upon release with this one, and if I do I won't need the TF2 items. All yours if I break, just let me know how to get them to you.

How did you tackle the mission? I haven't put too much time in yet, but I can't even take out the first house near the launch point.

Frontal assault didn't work for me. I had Lynx and Magic drop to a knee and take down the roving sentry that walks around the deck of the first house and that pretty much stirs up a hornet nest. After that first kill I immediately sprint everyone to the large tree to the southeast and put Lynx and Magic prone on either end facing up towards the house and then Fidel and the medic prone behind the tree itself. At that point I just let Lynx and Magic take down the bad guys that come storming out of the first house.

It got really interesting once I made it into the medical complex, one nicely placed shot from a grenade launcher though took down a stack a guys waiting to rush me from another room (would've been really nice to have line of sight/fog of war at that point).

I thought that FoW was supposed to be in this game. For sure it was mentioned as one of the features in a video review/preview I watched.

I only played Jagged Alliance Unfinished Business, but these tactics bring back memories. I loved setting ambushes. I would set up kill zones and advance a scout to be spotted and retreat into kill zone with the enemies following. I will have to check this out.

Is there a way to make your guys fire automatically, when they see an enemy?

The shield puts them in guard mode. You can orient their cone of vision in planning mode (spacebar).
