League Of Legends Catch All

No more promote?

I guess it was exploitable if five people used promote in the same lane.

Does anyone have an invite? I'd love to get into this..

I've only played DOTA a few times and got my butt kicked every time. The huge amount of content in this game really feels intimidating for a noob. I've had the client installed since Beta but I haven't given it more than 10 minutes of my time. If I were to join a goodjer game would my suck-itude be a huge disadvantage for my team?

I'm not that good at it yet either, I haven't played since the beta. But maybe we could set up a practice run?

I've been too scared to run into the ranked matches, but so far I've had a lot of luck with the practice rooms in terms of friendly players and accommodating teammates. I hadn't played DotA in like two years and I was able to play fine (read that as not being cursed out for feeding)

No invite needed. The game is free-2-play and out of beta. They are currently in preseason, with the first season starting sometime in January, I believe.

Looks like they took Tryndamere down a notch, which I'm sure a few folks will be happy about.

For the new players, get on the vent channel, there's a group of us playing every night, usually two games at a time or so. Best way to learn is just jump in.

Had a great 2 win streak of games last night with Rammus. Getting the hang of using his Taunt and Tremors to chip away at champions and using powerball to make them nervous.

Also make sure to invite him to the Goodjer Steam Group.

have we decided on a weekday / time frame to play together or do we just randomly join Ventrilo and LoL and hope for the best?

I think every night is LoL night Hobbes. Atleast for a dozen of us at various times.

mrwynd - You'll get the hang of it quickly, I wouldn't worry about being new. We can help you learn quickly too.

Re: Regular playtimes - I vote for Thursday nights if we want to have a regular night. My plan is to hop on vent tonight and see who's there, since the steam group rarely shows anybody actually playing LoL. I had a *horrible* game with pubs last night, so I'm really looking forward to playing with people who aren't DotA elitist jerks.

I might have to pay.....

As sexy as that one looks, I'm disappointed with the skins. They cost about $4 each, and they're all just color swaps. There was a conversation about this in Vent last night, and I'm firmly on the side of everything in this game costing too much. It's awesome that you can get some bundles, but champions range from $5 to almost $10, hardly impulse purchase prices. I hope they adjust their pricing as more options become available, because while I might be willing to pay $5 for a new champion, there is no way I'm paying that much for a color swap.

Considering you paid $0.00 for the game, that's 4 to 6 purchases you should be able to enjoy before you reach the $30 - $40 price point Riot could've charged for the game.

That said, yes they're coming off a little more expensive than I thought; 6,300 IP points takes me about a month to month and a half (assuming I win 3 games a day, every day).

If i had the extra money i'd buy the game right now and feel it was super cheap. I know it was a holiday special, but i'm sure they'll do it again you could get it for 22$ To get even just 10 of the heroes thats pretty impressive in my book. The rest you can unlock with IP and i've been averaging 3k about every other week. I'm also not a fan of just color swap skins.

Of course i REALLY love this type of game for some reason. I'm not that great at it, but its so much fun.

Let me clarify by saying that I purchased the digital pack, so I'm more than happy to pay for the content, and the champions are fine since you have the option of buying fast, or buying with points later. It's the extra skins that are out of whack, since they're not really offering much (and you need to already own the champion), and they cost the same as most champions.

I always thought skins as gimmicks, and these in particular;

Then again, they really can't change the wireframe too much because not recognizing a hero that is charging at you could be game-breaking for some.

I'm guessing once Riot get a clear idea of how much money is coming in, they'll assign a budget for additional content.

I'm guessing that similar to TF2, they'll be alternate weapons (in this case learnable skills), but unlike TF2, they'll cost individually.

The skins are gimmicks, they're intended to be fun little extras, which is why I think their pricing is so out of whack. They really ought to be more like $1, maybe $2 at most. We'll see how it goes in future.

Good games last night to everyone I played with. Too bad we didn't win any, but next time will be different. Next time, Gadget, next time!

I agree that the skins are a gimmick to get a few more bucks but $5 for one?! that's ridiculous. I'd think you'd make a lot more sales by putting them all at $1 each.

I would pay 1-3 dollars for a skin of a character I played all the time but the amount they are asking is like 4-5 and that just seems way too much.

I don't plan to spend much money on this game yet due to the temporary lack of a steady income. But when I do spend money it wont be on a skin, regardless of cost. Unless we have a team color, I like looking like everyone else.

That would be a really neat feature

NatG - why do you abandon your loved one like that!

Yeah, what a huge jerk.
Also, in case you guys were wondering who Narcist was (guy failing playing Amumu) that was a real life friend of mine (yep, I have those) but, yeah, he's pretty new to this as well so I figured it would be cool if I brought him in.

He seemed to do real well to me - he was a tank and held them together for us.

Here's a thread on vent normalization, it makes everybody the same volume in vent.
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...

A few peeps were asking for it.

Fedora - My comment to Narcist was sarcastic and just messing with him after seeing the "15 assists" he got. it just struck me as funny.
Just wanted to clear it up in case he thought I was serious at all.

From the couple times i've played the new hero i'm really digging her!

Yeah, seemed like he did great the second game... when I wasn't there.... hm..........

But, yeah, the first game he actually helped us hold pretty well I thought with all the 'suicide bombing'
