problem with blitz is although it helps, you don't HAVE to be good.

Gesh, you don't have to be good? Why haven't I played him?

New champ rotation. No Blitz, rejoice.

There is always Blitz. Rejoice!

Your blitz doesn't count because he is definitely not blitzcrank. And free blitz's are 90% trash.

And Raven, sona just wants to help DJ your dance party, dont hate.

That's fine. I could lure more people in for a kill that way (my friend is a jerk and a blitz)...

Yeah some heroes i just feel like all my actions come naturally with little thought. Even after not playing them for a long time now when I come back to them there's just a full sync. That doesn't necessarily mean my mechanics on them are totally perfect or my decisions are always the best but every action just has a natural flow to it.

Gangplank, Lee Sin, Twisted Fate, Amumu

Fo' sho'

Miss Fortune, Nautilus, Shyvanna, Swain, Skarner.

Malzahar, Vlad, and Ziggs, and to a lesser extent Kennen and Zyra. With Malz, I've reached the point that I feel confident about outplaying and/or outfarming my opponent and winning the lane, no matter what AP I'm facing. Obviously that doesn't always happen, but I think being in that positive space can only help my performance.

Vlad, on the other hand, has always been one of my favorite champs but I feel like his kit is less nuanced than some of the other champs I've mentioned. As such, I feel like he's a more niche-y pick, so when I'm picking him in blind for top lane especially I don't have that same sense of confidence at all.

edit: i'm enamored of the fact that we've all mentioned completely different champs so far.

Naut, Noct, WW.

I've managed to neglect MF, Ashe, Vayne, Cait and my other ADs for so long I have to think about what I'm doing.

The closest I come with that right now is Garen. In the past, I was very natural with Anivia and then later Singed (then a good friend started playing Singed every single game and I stopped playing him completely) I played Anivia again recently and I almost totally lost the touch. She's just so different than every other champ (painfully slow attack animation and projectile, slow moving skill shot, big burst only off a combo, mana eating ult, and that crazy wall), that playing other champs makes me a worse Anivia. Although if you can last hit with Anivia, you should be able to last hit with anyone.

Brand used to be my go to, but then I slowly stopped playing him. It takes a game or two and I get back into sync with him. AP kog is pretty much my most in sync. I really don't have and incredible amount of games, but he just kind of clicked right away for me. Draven is my latest in sync. Though I admit, I try to catch more axes than I should. Fortunately it doesn't get me in too much trouble :3

Something I was reflecting on last night:

There's something really special that happens after having played a champion for long enough (50+ games, usually far more). Eventually I lose the feeling of playing with that character as my avatar, and instead I am that champion. I've pulled off every trick in their book enough times for it to be second nature and appearing in the fountain as the timer increments to 0:01 is like slipping into an old pair of broken in shoes. I'm immediately at ease.

Though I've been playing for several years I only have a small handful of champions that I've "syncronized with" to this level. There are probably only two I would put in there for sure: Morgana and Nocturne. There are others that I've played a lot, if not more, but I can sense that there's still more potential to be unlocked. Though I originally learned the ADC role with her and would call her one of my mains, I've seen Doublelift do things with Caitlyn that I'm still trying to apply in the rift. I played Rammus exclusively between summoner levels 10 and 25 and he remained my main jungler through season 1, but with the advent of the season 3 jungle and item changes I'm going to study up before I can be OK with him again. I played a lot of mid with Brand and Gragas a while ago, but I never quite got there, and that was before Athene's shifted AP itemization around a bit.

More on topic with the current conversation: The fastest I've ever taken a champ from foreign to favorite was over the course of about 6 weeks with Blitzcrank. It was back in the early summer when the goodjer in-house movement was reaching its peak, and I was beyond fed up with being sodomized by Squee9. I made up my mind that I would either learn to enact comparable feats of demoralization or find another game to play. I studied diligently for several weeks, copy-catting Squee's moves with a champ that had previously appeared intimidating and difficult to play. As I slowly learned to internalize the silly robot logic, things slowly began to change.

I can't claim to have come anywhere close to mastering Blitz, or even to matching Squee's contribution to memberships of Demoralized ADCs Anonymous. One of the biggest benefits of that process is the fact that I now have enemy minions hard-wired into my brain as obstacles. I no longer have to glance at the minion wave to try to discern between friendly and foe, I just see walls and openings. But most importantly, when playing against a champ I know with such familiarity, there is no fear. given their current items, the state of the game, etc. Something I probably wouldn't have expected to say at the beginning of the year: At this point I prefer laning against Blitz over some other fairly annoying supports, including Taric, Lulu, and Nunu.

So... Have you found yourself becoming "syncronized" with a champion? Has it changed the way you play the game even on other characters?

So I knew they were waiting for IPL to end, but I didn't know they were going to do it this soon: preseason patch is going live tonight. That includes all the new items and masteries. They even made a site for it:

Sadly it looks like Nami is not included, but hopefully soon.

Morello did say later this week. Us support players don't get to get excited too often.

Mundo jungle. There's something oddly simple about him. Maybe it's the all the health.

The swirling hula hoop of doom helps a lot. For ganks you also have one of the best engagement moves, with the best range, using the cleaver.

But there are those sweet times they run in a straight line away from you and its q and w chunks until they are a red mist.

I think naut and malph are my only play anytime champions. I'd like to think im getting closer with orianna, but that ball doesn't cooperate sometimes and her ult has a mind of its own on the range. There was about three blissful months with akali but i fell off with her after she lost some viability top with bruisers becoming the norm and Diana existing/kat being less snowball dependent.

I used to be that way with fiora, blitz to a small degree but mostly just nauts anchor being similar. Ahri for awhile as well but that combo eluded last time I played her. Katrina pre-change.

I don't know, I feel maokai has a better engagement ability.

Btw, their changes for support to get more gold sounds like bankplank is now an even better option for top lane.

I have been really loving an Avarice and Philo combo on GP these days. With the Parley gold boost, and now with a 50% mana return, you can bankroll very vast. It is very east to use Q a lot without draining the mana with a few utility points and that 50% return.

As far as the items, it seems Mele AD gets a pretty big bump with the reworked Bilgewater Cutlas/Blade of the Ruined King, the Tiamat/Ravenous Hydra. And Avarice Blade now builds into 4 items. The New Black Cleaver with health, flat penetration, CDR, and Armor Sundering is huge.

Looking at the new variety of items and build paths, DPS is back. With the Haunting Guise build path, and boot enchantment, I suspect that AP damage may even be more viable.

A word on the syncronozation of players and champions:

Blitz is a cute robotic faced, c**t punching son-of-a-pudge. When I see an enemy Willump-rider, I laugh, because 75% of my skills disrupt channeling. They call me Goldman-Sachs because I play with Blitz's brass balls out while dressed to the nines. They call me AP-Assassin-Blitz because I hang around after fights and burst down the survivors with my unfairly low CD ult. They call me the Arrogant Mancini becuase I insta-lock Blitz and type, "ANY ROLE" in all caps. Yes, I will outfarm that Ahri when I solo mid against her, trust in Squee. I enjoy a small tumbler of Blitz on the rocks while I'm wearing metallic purple shoes and quoting Alfred Lord Tennyson poetry over vent. Grip and sip!

On the reg though, half of the reason why I'm so successful is that I play like a crazy person. BootsPots on a "support"?" Speeding headlong in to a 1v2 under their turret? The great thing about matchmaking is that it's always their first time against my Blitz. I'm arrogant as funk. I don't win with mind games, I just waddle in on my golden duck feet and assume I'll win. My favorite hip hop artist is MOS DEF NOT BLITZ. Yank and bank. Do work son. Welcome to Hook City.

Poetry

Squee. We're playing this week. I'll jungle, you go wherever. Hooks will be thrown.

I would sig this if it would fit.

Playing with Squee on blitz is a constant cycle of "WTF is he doing?!?!" -> "Really, that worked?"

I am enjoying reading the new people complain about the jungle and how they are useless because they can't gank at 2, and ward coverage is cheaper. It makes me happy, false sense of security makes ganking more fun.

I'm interested to see how the new PD interacts with rammus. If he can pass through minions...and you put homeguard on him...then ghost...and he teleports to a ward....does he reach 88 miles an hour and go back and time?

Does he have to pass through jayce's e to do it?

IntangibleFate wrote:

Yes.

I dunno how we got on the theme of posting our our best champs....

Mine's definitely irelia. First bruiser i bought and played at someone's recommendation and i've spend days watching wickd stream him then putting the tips and tricks into practice to try to get better and better. I still havn't laned her vs every champ but more and more it's getting to be that once i've laned vs them once i can win the lane, if not outright, at least by coming out ahead at the end of lane phase. And more and more often i end up becoming a holy terror now.

It's becoming a process of actually teaching me about the game more when i play with irelia than any other time as it's when i truely learn how to play to beat specific champ's weaknesses or exploit their CDs, how to trade properly without going all in when it's a champ that will turn on you because you only have so long, etc etc etc.

Many matches where it felt like things were completely impossible a month ago, i start looking foward to because i think i can beat them or outpower them by later mid game.

Nothing else in league has improved my skills like playing irelia top lane. It has even made my ADC play better just because of the intense CS last hitting phase she has top lane and how much positioning matters. While my ADC isn't great, after playing a lot of irelia games and then going back to adc (which i started with adc and support and really sucked bad at adc) it was amazing how much my positioning and CSing and general mechanics had improved from it.

Now if i could find some way of teaching myself map presense awareness as a jungler like i've been learning mechanics as irelia that'd be cool....because i utterly totally SUCK at jungle now. I'm guaranteed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and never in the right place at the right time.

I don't think I have a best champ... I like to change up my playstyle constantly. Maybe Leona? Or sona? There will always be a place in my heart for heimerdinger. Lately though I have been playing the jungle more. I wonder how heimer is in the new jungle?
