This Truth is Self-Evident, the Pile Won't Clear Itself

I finished Mass Effect 2. Renegade space-lesbian Jane Shepard once again saves the galaxy.

I just finished Mass Effect 2 as well - Paragon, bi-sexual lesbian Jane Shepherd's adventures continue

(Liara in ME1, Thane in ME2)

Bi-sexual lesbian? Make up your mind, man!

Well, she was pining for Tali, but unfortunately, Quarians don't swing that way.. Even St. Shepherd needs some lovin'

Oh, she's such a dirty wh... Does she have facebook? Wait, no, nevermind that.

Well, it wasn't on my list to start with, but I've burned through DJ Hero in a little under a week, after a buddy lent it to me while he was out of town.

It's a damn good game, and it drove home how much I love me some rhythm-action.

If I've got spare cash lying around this fall (which I probably won't, given that I'll be spending it all on shiny new Rock Band 3 paraphenalia), I'd definitely consider picking up the sequel.

Just for the 'cheevos and to clear some space off my game shelf, I also polished off Fuzion Frenzy 2.

Speaking of DJ hero - yah, damn! You are burning through that! I love the game, but suck at anything above medium.

Wanna boost some online achievements?

Yeah, I started out playing it on Medium, tried Hard and found it was far more fun. Can 5* most of it on Hard.

I'd be up for boosting the online stuff, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll have it before I have to return it to the friend I borrowed it from. Sent you an XBL message to take that conversation elsewhere.

I cannot get into the Void. I cannot tell if it is quaint, avant-garde, or archaic. The game is so far removed from what I enjoy. It incorporates every part I hated in Myst, Silent Hill, and in RPGs 20 years ago. The maintenance of the character, combined with the incredibly slow pacing and movement just did me in. It feels like you are wading up stream whenever you move, and having to cash in color for health is just brutal, as is having to re-tread segments over and over just to get a few drops of color.

Where STALKER is a lovely trip down memory lane with shooters past, or Zeno Clash is a stylized and experimental take on Serious Sam style shooters, The Void just seems to be bits ant parts of game types that bug me to no end.

My initial comparison to a Lars von Trier film are spot on. I respect the work, but I am having no fun and zero enjoyment. I am sure there is someone with fond memories of Myst, or Silent Hill, Ultima who would get a lot from The Void. But that is not me.

Weeeeell... It seems it's time for me to declare utter failure with my two pile games this month. I'll have to carry them over. God of War proved entirely too monotonous for me so I couldn't really handle sessions for more than 40 minutes to an hour at a time. Persona 3: FES I'm absolutely loving... but it's a long haul, that one. See you in August!

After a few weeks of procrastinating, I'm finally starting to get in to Dawn of War 2 - playing a mission or two each night I can. I still don't totally have the hang of managing all four guys at once, but I'm getting better. As such, I'm going to roll the game over in to August and keep plugging away at it.

After a good start to the month, my pile attempts got skuttled by the Gears 20xp weekend, and further hampered by my discovery of the TrueAchievements gaming session board...

On the plus side, my game completion % will thank me with some of the more obscure online cheevos getting done (I’m looking at you Sega Allstar Tennis).

Next month will be better, but this month, I stretched myself a little too thin across three titles (out of four), and failed on all three counts.

Did it! Handed my thesis in on the 30th and powered through the remaining hours of Mass Effect 2 on the 31st. Now I have six hours left in this month to decided which one is going down next month.

And as it was written, so it was done.
