I have no business playing in it, but I vote you guys upload replays. I would totally watch them.

Would be interesting to try and I'm up for it but I have no idea how to organize something like this. I'll help out however I can though.

Me being in Aus really throws out the timeline... plus the lag.

/ignores the Aussie's plight

Yippee! I'm down for some friendly matches.

Well I assumed you three would be in =)

We'll see where the conversation goes. I don't want to do everything by hand (though I will if I have to) so if anyone knows a website that does this for free, let me know.

Oh, and start finding teammates!

I'm in. I'm sure there is a bracket making website somewhere. Google Wave might be useful for organizing something like this? I know it's great for Solium Infernum games. Or maybe just a google doc like you said.

I'd play, but their network code prevents me from playing anything with more than 4 palyers.

Count me in.

Sounds like fun, count me in. Now I need to start sucking up to potential teammates...

Edit:

After a quick search I came across the preceding site and set up a test account. It's used to track hockey leagues, and has way more features than we would ever need, but we could use it to set up a schedule, track team stats etc.

If anyone wants to mess around with it, the admin info is:

We so need more Aussies on this forum.

I'm down too.

So you can play with yourselves? I wouldn't mind playing with more people. The more the merrier.

You know I haven't played Dawn of War 2 in ages but I'd be down for this because I think I'd at least have a chance at winning a game every now and then. Playing the rabid bunnies who are the general multiplayer public just left me feeling old.

I'd be interested. I want to get into the multiplayer properly as it seems to have enjoyed a resurgence with the release of CR. I'm really not very good though and probably wouldn't be able to put in looooads of time, so be gentle plese:) If you lot are playing on Saturday though, I should be able to join in this week, if it's at about the same time as I saw you all playing last week?

I'm also up for it, but regular play at weekends is a myth for me. Sometimes I can play, other times I'm away for the weekend.

If people can schedule around it, then count me in! Where do I sign?

Our regular time on Saturdays is 5 pm EST. If you want to join our steam group, send anyone in the group a message and we can add you in for reminders.

I think the plan is, every registered team would have a schedule of 1 game per week (season length depending on how many teams we have register) followed by a playoff. We also have a lot of people who don't have the pipes for 3v3 or 2v2v2, so maybe we'll keep this at 2v2 for now and we can make other leagues later.

Danny! This is pretty great. I think we can use this. Ok, so guys, private message me your teams!

Include in that message:
1.) GfWL log on for both members
2.) Forum Handle for both members (we want to keep this goodjer specific, I assume?)
3.) Team Name (please make them ridiculous. Please)

We can start getting teams put together while we figure out how things are structured. And spread the word! The more the merrier. I have a dream of breaking this into divisions =)

I'll get this 2v2 league up and running. If anyone else wants to help me, I would appreciate it and if anyone wants to get a 1v1 or 3v3 league going, great!

Definitely interested.

Some rules I'm kicking around right now:

Start within the next month
1 game a week for x weeks
playoff bracket at the end

2v2 best of three maps. Each team chooses a map for the match, tie breaker if needed will be assigned before the match (random map selection will be public before teams choose maps).

Each game of match is 500 point victory point games.

Teams make map choice known to other team immediately before the match. Team who doesn't choose the map gets to choose what side they're on.

Team with least amount of wins gets to decide if their map is played first or second. Ties will be decided by both teams (it isn't like we won't all be adults about this).

Maps must be unique (and limited to the Relic maps) for all 3 games of the match.

Any observers must be approved by both teams.

Saving the game replay is optional, but would be great.

I won't be home at all this weekend, so I'll be absent the first round if you guys start this weekend.

Sounds cool. What about scoring? I noticed you americans like to score points in the dozens if not hundreds, while us europeans go for smaller values

So, if a team wins, how many points does it get? What about losing and showing up Vs losing by not showing up?

@cyrax: It's one game per week. I think teams can reschedule so everybody can play. Else I might skip a few games

Oh, I want to give this time to get going and build some buzz first. I don't think we'll have our first games for a few weeks yet. You know, give people time to form teams, browbeat their friends into playing, find teammates, practice, that sort of thing.

As for scoring, I was thinking a simple Win/Loss/did not play tally with the best records getting seeded into a playoff structure.

Thoughts?

Sounds awesome

Here's to hoping we get a steady group for the long run!

Maybe we could start a small trial league (1 month duration), so we could iron out the kinks, and once we get set up, start with the interesting stuff?

That's a pretty good idea. Dry run with a 2v2 to see if we should expand it? Sounds good!

Ok, well, Preseason starts April 4 and ends on May 1. The Season starts May 2?

I think we should accept team signups constantly rather than until the season starts. If we decide wins are the only metric we're tracking, then it wouldn't hurt to have people join mid-season.

Sunday games actually might work the best for me (Saturdays are more of a no-no kind of thing).

I'm fine with teams coming up mid-season, but we will stick by the 1 game per week rule, right? If so, if a team signs up too late, it might not be able to win the league even if it wins all the games it participates. I have no issue with this, just making sure I got it right.

That was my intention, yes. And I don't think we have to worry about late teams not winning the league. I'd like to see best records go into playoff brackets, so even if a team joined late, if they're the better team they may still win even if they only eke out enough wins for the 8th seed or something.

Besides, I'd like to run this for a couple months and then have a new season, keep this going for a while.

Think I understood pretty much everything Thx!

Sounds great! gogogogo

I would be in!

Still getting my sealegs, as you've probably can tell from my wailing in the catch-all, but I'd be down to join in. Like oMonarca, flexible play times would be best for me as well, though hopefully most weekends I would be able to make that time.

Guess I should start practicing ...

While I'd normally advocate waiting for the patch, Relic moves on Valve time. If that. That said, you might consider house rules for the two main sources of complaints, the assault terminators and the wraith guard.

Also known as Blizzard time in some circles.

It seems all my favorite developers have this awful habit of taking their time.
