NCAA Football 11 Catch-All

Yeah I have PastaPadre/Fairdale Kings roster, and it loads just fine in Dynasty, but Road to Glory is another story.

I don't remember seeing the option, like I do when I create a Dynasty, to tell it to not randomly generate names. Even if I were to not load the PP/FK roster and use the default SS#17 names I still get randomly generated names.

I hate Road To Glory. If I am in the red zone, with 1-2 minutes left to go on the clock at the end of either half, they call a timeout..............................why? The smart thing to do with over a minute left is to roll down some clock so the opposing team doesn't score when they get the ball back. And guess what, at almost a 100% clip, I will score a TD, and the defense will give up a TD before the end of the half.

The other issue, losing to USC by 7pts with 2:30 to go in a high scoring affair, 4th and 10 on the USC 44 yd line. Punt.
Seriously? USC rolled down the field, scored a FG and all timeouts were burned in the process, and now I have a minute to score 10 points. So yeah, a 3-pt loss, my only one that season. Glorious.

Did USC go for 2 points after half the touchdowns?

No, but if that happened, I probably would have punched a baby.

I found a way around the punting (or QB kneel) issues and that is to run a hurry up/no huddle offense. Of course I'm only going off of what I've seen in the HS playoffs, I've yet to play a game in college as I would like to figure out if this roster thing can be fixed.

I'm really just gonna play this my RTG for the achievements, that and my 85 ovr freshman QB with 98 spd, acc, agi, 94 thp and 80 something throw acc sounds like a good match for Oregon's spread offense.

Yeah, on 4th and shorts, I've been calling no huddle. I just assumed, down by 7 with 2:30 to play in the 4th, I wouldn't have to, lol.

I am 1 bowl win away from taking home the last RtG achievement. Once I do that, I am never going back, lol.

So been doing some more research, I don't think I'm missing an option to use named rosters. From what I gather from others grumbling about the feature there is not a way to get them to work. Oh well.

Just started a new offline dynasty with Cal. I've been looking for a different team to play through for a few years of a dynasty. I tried Indiana, but wasn't having any fun with their pistol playbook. Enter Cal with a good line and running game in the pro offensive style. I've been having a good time with them! I bumped the difficulty up to Heisman (which I couldn't play as ND, getting spanked left and right, although before several patches). I played two games last night, against Colorado and Nevada. In both I went down 14-0 in the first half and ended up blanking the teams in the second half, winning by a last second field goal both times! We'll see what happens when I have to play stronger teams, but I'm having fun pounding the ball down the other teams' throats!

Mother F'n Big 12 refs!

Just finished a match up of my #6 Tar Heels at #17 Texas. With just a couple seconds left in the game and UNC up by 7 and Texas at their own 40 they have 1 shot at the endzone. I get a good rush on their QB and tip the ball literally straight up into the air above the QB. I had two D-line men standing under the ball and they just let the thing fall between them for an incomplete pass with 1 second remaining on the clock. I get great pressure on the QB on what should be the final play, he slips from the grasp of my DT and gets rocked by my DE as he gets the pass off to the endzone which of course is caught for the game tying TD.

We go to OT and I win the toss electing to play defense. Texas has no trouble getting down inside the 10, but I stuff them on a couple of play bringing up 3rd down. All I need is a good stand, but instead I give up a TD.

I take to the field and pound the ball down inside the 10 myself. Get stuffed on a run on 1st down, try to run a screen that gets batted down, another incompletion on third setting up this fourth down play. Second angle

Kinda hard to see and none of the save-able replay options really show a good angle. So I lay before you my still picture evidence:

That looks like a catch to me, but I'm biased, I guess it could have gone either way. It was ruled incomplete and it was not even reviewed, which is what pisses me off the most! I definitely could have done a few things differently in this game to be in a better position to win. Had a 3rd and 5 under 2 minutes left to go in regulation that I just tried to run a sweep on and let the clock run down before kicking the ball back to them rather then trying to get the first down.

I could've gotten the ball to my receiver a fraction of a second earlier so the catch wouldn't have been in question.

The game ended with a 1895 greatness score, which is 500pts higher then my now #2 game.

He doesn't have control in any of those pictures. From the replay it looked like he started dragging his toe, but probably didn't have control until his toe was out of bounds. The important thing is that my poor, defenseless CPU Longhorns managed to not get blasted by another human team.

I really, really wish I was having games that good. My games were either 77-10 wins or exceptionally tight affairs against teams I should be crushing (the difference between All-Pro and Heisman, for me). I'd like to get it "right" but i've done so much slider tweaking already (especially since testing a good pack of sliders means trying them out for 3-4 games) that it's just becoming more work than its worth.

Well the one highlight for the Texas fans was when I scooped up a fumble and took it to the house. After the TD they pan up into the stands to show a bunch of Texas fans cheering me on, really reminded me of the picture of the USC cheerleader that has her hands up cheering after another team scored on USC.

Wow...playing as Cal v. Oregon I just intercepted a fake punt returning it for a TD!

Whoa. Wild. Never seen that play.

So I almost stayed home to play NCAA instead of heading to a bar to watch Kansas. My mother-in-law is in town, and she and my wife and daughter went to pick apples. I skipped out to watch KU, but considered getting in some rare game time for this weekend. So I elected to watch Kansas get demolished 55-7 by Baylor, and pretty much lost game time for the rest of the weekend.

I am a sad panda.

Worse, my mother-in-law is sacked out asleep on our couch now. If she had just gone upstairs to sleep... but no.

At least I will have fresh apple pie later.

So I just had a funny thing happen. I recruited this super-speedy QB a few seasons ago in a private dynasty. He rushed his first season for 2,000 yards in the option. He won the Heisman a couple times. The last two years I converted him to a WR due to a younger QB coming on strong as a passer. So this season this former QB played WR and spent a lot of time in formations that put him at QB. He passed for over 2,000 hards, rushed for over 1,000 yards, had combined 50+ touchdowns and had 2,300 yards receiving. And he LOST the Heisman. Wow.

So, I won a game in a very unusual way last night. I'm playing an offline dynasty as Louisville. Just defeated #4 WVU to get to 4-2 and travel to USF. I was only up 12-7 midway through the 4th. I had two FGs and a TD, but I went for two and didn't get it. USF put together a drive that I just couldn't stop and went ahead 13-12; they lined up for a two point conversion. Their QB got a little pressure and threw the ball right into the arms of my safety about 5 yards deep in the endzone. Well, I instinctively just took off, returning the thing 105 yards for 2 points! That ended up being the last score of the game, which I won 14-13.

The funny thing is, had I kicked a PAT after that TD, USF would have kicked their own in the 4th, putting me down 14-13. Who knows if I could have driven down to get a score after that... So my missed 2 pt conversion may have won the game for me in some backwards sort of way.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... C-A-R-D-S, CARDS!

I'm in. Amazon sucked me in with $29.99 deal. On PS3, so anybody who wants, friend me up, PSN is in sig. And of course I'll be building the Cardinals, just like Coach Strong!

I'm in my second year of a Louisville dynasty. Not ranked to begin the season (though I finished last season ranked 13th, going 9-3 and winning a bowl). Pushed up the ranks with several wins, including three SEC teams in my first three games: Kentucky, Georgia, and Arkansas. Eventually I'm undefeated at #12 or so, having beaten Big East teams in USF and #20 Rutgers. Then WVU comes to town. They pushed me around through most of the game. Not much was working for me. I couldn't run, I could barely pass, and my punter was sucking it up. However, I managed to keep it to 23-10 and was putting together a nice drive as the third quarter came to a close.

Well, then things got wild! I managed to outscore WVU in the 4th quarter by a margin of 35-7. I scored just after the beginning of the quarter. Then I got an early INT on WVUs resulting drive, which put me in great field position for another TD. Then I forced a fumble on the next drive, which my LB returned for a TD. Then WVU had a nice drive with several big plays that allowed them to score. After that I put together a 4 play drive in which I caught them on a blitz for a 60 yard score. Then I forced a fumble on the resulting kickoff return, which I also returned for a TD!

That win shot me up to #4!

Of course, I almost turned around and lost at Louisiana Tech (!!), but managed to eek out a 10 point win in the end to get to #3 at 9-0.

One thing I love about this game -- the players have much different sizes and shapes. I have a huge hulk of a TE who is 6'8" tall. He is a giant compared with opposing safeties and CBs. And he plays like one!!

I'm almost ashamed to admit how many seasons I've played. 5 with Oregon State in one dynasty and 3 in one dynasty with Portland State. I'm going to get that achievement for running through 10 seasons.

I'm midway through year 8 with UNC. This will be my final year with the team, my contract is up and I won't be renewing. I've built the Heels into a juggernaut in a fairly weak conference, and not really having much fun. I really enjoy several of my juniors on this team and want to see how they do next year under someone else's tutelage.

Going to jump ship to either the Big10 or SEC, grab some low to middling school and take a shot at building them up.

Despite my team's dominance I can't seem to steal the initial #1 spot away from Alabama to get the achievement for going coast to coast as the number one team. I also missed out on the achievement a couple years back for beating everyone on my schedule by 21pts or more. I might be able to pull that one off in my current year, have to look to see how my games have gone so far.

I haven't spent much time on dynasty play outside of our Online Dynasty. But I did knock out some fun achievements this afternoon. It was fun taking teams with different playbooks.

I used Oregon to score TD with the spread while using no-huddle on every play. Then I used Oregon State to rush for 200 yards in a one back offense.

The Nevada Wolfpack was a tough one, as used their pistol offense to run for over 100 yards with a QB and a HB. That one was tough, as the starting QB went down early, and the back-up kept fumbling.

Hawaii's run and shoot was a simple one. I just had to throw for over 300 yards and hit at least five receivers. All I had to do with Iowa's pro style offense was hit eight receivers in the game. I did have to get a bit creative to pull it off, but it wasn't hard to do.

I accomplished it by playing on All-American and seven minute quarters, but I played pretty weak opponents. It was a fun way to go through some different playbooks. I also used super sim to skip playing defense ion the games so it wouldn't take as long.

It was just something I thought would be fun to do after getting an option achievement called Throw 'Em a Curve when I threw for over 300 yards in an option offense for our league game when I got down to Mizzou 24-0 in the first half.

One of my best friends is on 2020 with Louisville, think he said he's been running on All-American. Won it all in 2014, 16, and now is on his way to winning again in 20. Said he had 2 years he went undefeated and didn't get invited to the championship game.

Gotta tear myself away from NBA 2k11 and get started.

Still working through season 8 of my UNC dynasty and I may become the latest victim of the not having a playoff system.

I sit in third and well behind in the BCS standing to USC (10-0) and Alabama (11-0). USC has a 8-3 UCLA game on the road and follows up with a cupcake game at ULM. Alabama has a cupcake match-up as well at FIU and then a date with 10-1 Florida in the SEC championship game. I sit at 11-0 with a cupcake game against UAB to finish off the regular season and then a match-up against 10-1 Florida State in the ACC championship game.

I'm really pulling for Florida to pull out the win against 'Bama, it's the only shot I have to make it to the BCS championship. I need that game plus 21pt wins in each of my other games to get the Untouchable achievement and unlock the trophy for 4 championships in a row.

In other notes, my oh so fun to play with speed back is the front runner for the Heisman, this would be my first Heisman trophy. He is sitting at 1942 yds rushing, 29 rush TDs, and averages 9.9 yds a carry. He has also caught 23 balls for 340 yards and 6 more TDs.

My rivalry game against Duke was a kind of a bummer. I wasn't really trying for it, but every time he touched the ball he just broke a run for a TD, he ended up going out with an injury at the end of the 3rd quarter and was tied for the single game rushing record at 406. The play he was injured on was a dive for a TD, would've been his 7th rushing on the day, from the 1 yard line that was just flat out stuffed the only defensive play that Duke made on the day.

Okay, I think I just officially saw the strangest thing in this game. I have a QB in my 6th season of an Oregon State dynasty. He finished with 3,300 yards rushing (option attack fashioned around him) and 48 TDs. He didn't win the Heisman (in and of itself odd), but was the best player in the national championship. So I get to the "Players Leaving" screen and he's leaving. Why? To go pro? No, to transfer to Utah. When I successfully plead for him to return he says something to the effect of "I guess you're right. I'll get good opportunities here".

I think I should bench him out of spite. Good opportunities? I just created an entire offense around you and you rushed for over 3,000 yards.

Maybe he didn't like the coach...found him spiteful and vindictive, or something!

UCLA managed to beat USC soundly allowing the Tar Heels a shot at the title game. We ended up beating 'Bama soundly capturing the Untouchable achievement and the 4 champs in a row trophy. Also garnered a bunch of offensive trophies that I won for the first time; Heisman, Best HB, Best WR, Best QB.

I took a job with a very poor 2 star Michigan State team in a loaded Big 10, looking forward to getting Sparty back to relevance.

Maybe he wanted to be a pocket passer. I granted him that this season and he threw for over 800 yards in his third game.
