DC: Universe - Catch All

Does anybody else find the stealth a bit pointless?

I used it on my second hero and I never needed it. There was exactly one mission with a "sneak by these sentries" section, and all you had to do if you failed was fight a bunch of guards (I am sure there is a feat for not alerting them, I suppose).

In WoW there were a lot of missions where the rogue's ability to sneak past a million guys without a fight came in very handy, but in DCUO I really didn't find it that useful.

I found it very useful for low level missions, on PVP servers, to stay alive when there high level heroes/villains hanging around the area you need to be in for a mission. [cloak, dagger target, recloak] I figure it becomes less, and less useful as one's level increases and can stand against human enemies toe to toe.

I'm on a PvE. At first I spec'ed toward stealth and found it fairly useful, but then I respec'ed away and never regretted it. From my experience, it's more a neat thing to play with for a little while than a useful tool.

I respecced my controller to one of the more recommended controller layouts and then buzzed through the Brother Eye mission without dying or having to use any consumables. Admittedly, I had to kill some trash for a bit to get used to the new skills but in the end I like it. The level 30 mentor mission actually felt easier than the Brother Eye mission. Guess it's all about how I'm playing that day and whether or not I'm taking my time or getting frustrated.

As for stealth, I actually use it a lot. I only have it on my damage build for when I'm soloing but I also spent points in martial arts to get the +3 stealth bonus. With that I can walk all over enemies without being seen. I generally use it to scout a room and then set up my fighting area. I'll put down an implosion mine at some point further back. If I have to run it acts as a nice little speed bump for any pursuing enemy. I then cuff a weak mob to keep them out of the fight for a bit and sneak attack the harder mob which gives me a nice little head start on taking them out. When I can have complete control over a fight like that it's cake. I also love stealth for PvP but when I'm in groups I just don't use it.

I have a feeling I'm not going to stick with the end-game content on this one after seeing that I'm getting 1 or 2 marks for replaying an old mission which could take 30 minutes or more, depending on the boss, or from a legends PvP fight where I have to wait almost an hour in line to just get in. In this case I'm getting maybe 3 or 4 marks an hour if I'm doing good. I then look at vendors and see things requiring 150 or 200 marks. I dunno, I think I'd rather just level up another character.

My two favorite alts right now are a fire brawler and a nature hand blaster. The brawler can just wade into large groups of enemies and wipe them out without a care and the nature blaster can just keep going forever because of the defensive buffs and healing powers in the plant line.

Since I only play with 2 other friends of mine, queuing up for Alerts, Duos, Arenas and Legends don't take more than a couple minutes and since we know our way around, finishing those instances are very quick, specially Duos, and that's an easy way of getting Marks of Triumph and the occasional purple piece of gear. We've been doing mostly PVP Arenas and Legend matches, so we got our Tier 1 set complete in 3 or 4 nights and we are working on a couple pieces of Tier 2 already. If you have friends to queue up for stuff, things can move very quickly and Marks will come at a steady pace. It is not too bad, I think.

Started up a new hero on Killing Joke (PS3) but am up for level 30 villain content on Crisis if anyone wants to group up. Gotta get that currency.

Anyone check out the new content yet?

I'd like to run level 30 stuff with you on Crisis, but it's gonna be a week or so before I can get to it.

I ran the new duo tonight. It's basically the earlier Bane mission in the lighthouse but with some extra bosses. I won't spoil which ones. Anyway, it was fun -- harder than Grodd but easier than Omac.

I also checked out the auction house and sold a bunch of level 30 greens really quickly. I think people are buying stuff for styles, so even green junk can sell well apparently.

I didn't have time to check out any of the other new content.

The Goddess of Love quests are entertaining (although one of them is VERY glitched) and quick to get through. Everyone can partake as the location equalizes the level of everyone for PVP purposes or otherwise. It's gonna take a while to get any styles from the vendors though, as there are only three quests that can be completed daily for a single heart (currency) and the cheapest available style is 10 hearts (I'm pretty sure).
Guesses on what Events DCU is planning? I'm rather curious about that new option in the alerts tab.

Not sure if this deserves it's own thread or not, but I'm curious as to the best thing that everyone has gotten from the vault? Personally, I've received a Mark of Triumph (super surprised btw) for a level 11 character, and [purple grade] boots that changed my movement type from acrobatics to superspeed while equipped.

All I've gotten from the vault are a bunch of styles I already had.

I haven't been able to download the patch on the PS3. Tried a couple times yesterday and it kept freezing. Will try today and hopefully it will download. As far as the vault question my main got an Sinestro corp hoodie that is pretty cool. And I got a Green Lantern hoodie on another toon. So far i've only gotten cosmetic items from the vault but I don't always run it daily so I could be missing out on items.

I will be on pc tonight with my lowly level 12 soon to be healer once I respec if anyone wants to team up or help me learn the game better;)

Wait, there's an auction house? *sigh* I'm assuming it's in the main base somewhere near the vaults? I either missed that part of the tour or it just wasn't there.

The only time I went past the "auction house", it was completely inoperative, so I figured they hadn't implemented it yet. I take it I was wrong and it was just completely broken that day?

The AH was included in yesterday's patch.

Yeah, the AH was added in Tuesday's patch.

Yesterday, I got my first cool item from the Vault -- Riddler's tshirt. A friend got a batman hoodie. All those vault trips finally paid off!

I also ran the Valentine's alert. It was fun, but it's going to be really hard to get the feat for keeping the other side from getting any hearts. I think we tried 5 times, and although we won we didn't come close to shutting them out.

Looks like there are a bunch of feats for the Valentine's content, so I'm going to be working on those until the event is over.

They explain this game so poorly. It wasn't until my 3rd character that I actually realized you can visit the Vault every day. Or at least more than once.

I think I finally found a league to join. I figure something called The Average Joes where their rule to join is "don't be a jerk" is probably okay by me. So many leagues have about 30 rules, and raid calendars, and attendance points, and other stuff.

Do you know what I also have where I have to be someplace at a specific time, and I get in trouble if I'm not there, and I have to follow a preset code of behavior? Work. Work is not play.

I still miss my first WoW guild.

??

They explain it to you when you get your first Vault ticket or did you just click without reading?

The 3rd time through I heard Ambush Bug tell me that.

See, when I use a consumable and it disappears from my hot bar, searching through a bunch of menus that take 10 seconds to scroll between to see if that consumable somehow magically respawns each day isn't something I am programmed to do.

I got a Martian Manhunter hoodie out of a vault once, it was kind of stupid-looking though. What kind of superhero runs around in a hoodie?

Superman did for a little while as well as a couple of videogame heros whose names I can't recall. Hoodies are the new "modern bad-boy hero" hotness. Didn't you get the memo?

I read it, and it also took me multiple days before I realized that it meant you could visit it in the same tab as alerts etc. I figured the quest would pop up again every day, based on what the text said.

I didn't discover it until after the beta ended (which is still a fairly long time).

From what I've found and heard of so far ((Vault) I wont ruin it for you if you don't wish to peek):

Spoiler:

One can find Marks, Purple equipment (movement changing is all I've seen so far), Iconic hero/villain shirts/hoodies, Trinkets (varying from a Beastimorph disguise to a Superman Bouncy Ball), and [from what a friend of mine told me he got a] Iconic hero/villain baseball cap.

I just figured out that the Event is only available to lvl 30 characters (I wasn't one when I checked it out initially) and will only run a few weeks. Hint: This one involves Aphrodite.

The 4-man level 30 event is pretty fun. There are also 3 daily challenges for the holiday. You get 3 "hearts" or whatever they're called from the 4-man and 1 from each of the daily challenges, so you can 6 total per day.

You can buy candies for 1 heart or cupid-looking gear for 8 to 10 hearts. There are feats for eating the candies and collecting all the gear as well as various feats for doing the missions. I forget how many feat points in total there are for the holiday event but I'm sure it's more than 100, which of course is another skill point. Just an FYI for those of you who don't want to miss out on seasonal feat points.

Anyone else having two Isis spawn on the Gotham University dou? (on the PS3) Getting tired of that, luckily after the two of them kill you one goes away and you can complete the dou then. Game seems more buggy after the patch. Still having fun with the game but the frustration level is rising. Also still have yet to get voice chat to work.

The two Isis is a bug that appeared after the patch. That has been acknowledged by SOE among a few other bugs and they said they will be hotfixing them this Tuesday.

Does anybody else use a bow?

After the last patch I noticed a substantial...change...glitch...bug...something...that lets me spam the two attacks that happens when you tap forward or backward during long draw. If I hold down the ranged attack button after completing the first attack, and then just keep tapping the forward or backward key (not too fast, but you can do it pretty quickly) the attack just keeps happening over and over and over without a recharge of the long draw ability.

I'm trying not to rely on it because I assume they'll patch it back out but it's pretty funny.

Also, on 2 of my 3 characters I have mail that I cannot delete because it thinks I have not taken the attachment yet. And I cannot put my Bane's trinket pre-order thingy in the bank, yet I have outgrown it, so it just stays in my first character's inventory.

I played with a bow a few weeks ago and this weekend I rolled a new char and got Bow again. I noticed the same "bug" by spamming those 2 attacks you mentioned. I'm not sure if they were always like that because it's been a while since I've used a bow.

And yep, I have a few e-mails I can't delete too. It says I have an attachment, but I already grabbed it and I can't delete the email then. It doesn't bother me too much, but should get fixed.

Like I mentioned earlier, they said there's a hotfix patch coming tomorrow. I will test that bow bug again then and report.

I played my nature healer from level 9 to 23 this weekend. During that entire time I never got into the 8v8 Australia PvP match despite being qeued for it the whole time. I went through every available alert and legends PvP offering but never got into Australia. I've actually never gotten into that PvP arena since the game launched. Has anyone gotten in there? Just wondering. I just hate having those PvP intro quests sitting in my mission journal.

Yeah, I've been to Australia Arena. It's the one that doesn't show up as much compared to the others. At least on the server I'm playing at, Arenas and Legends matches pop up much quicker once you are 30. I pretty much get instant to 5 min wait most nights at prime time at 30.
