\m/(~_~)\m/ Bring the Metal! \m/(~_~)\m/

Trident's emo/punk stylings are entirely within my tastes; punk is my favorite genre, really.

However, I'm not aware of many bands making melodic punk in the vein of what I really like (Bad Religion, a million Fat Wreck bands, Alkaline Trio) these days. I don't see as many punk shows as metal shows because of this.

Krallice once again surprise released a new album!

At first glance, this seems to be a more atmospheric album than other recent Krallice work, lots of keyboard.

Demonic Wealth, the 10th album, written in isolation, recorded in isolation, listened to in isolation, released in isolation.

Drums recorded at the Mouth 3 on a phone

Vocals recorded in the car by the swamp

Bass recorded.

Guitars, keyboards, other bass, reamping, mixing, mastering at Menegroth the thousand caves.

Wow, this is one raw album.

They're such goddamn good musicians, man.

This rips. Freeking great!

Check this band out! Hardcore punk sound with pop sensibilities just where it’s needed.

Never listened to Newsted's old band. Really good old school stuff. No wonder he got the gig with Metallica, though his style is so different from Cliff. Course, everyone's style was diff from Cliff.

Too bad Metallica were total dicks to Newstead.

Canadian metal show that's got 300k subs. Anyone come across them before? Posted here before?

I'm certain I've posted Banger before. They're great, though I definitely prefer certain reviewers over others.

Oh, I don't read your stuff. You have bad taste. In football teams.

What would you and the rest of our NFL idiot thread do without my Jags fandom to kick around?

I've checked out Banger TV before, and *checks youtube* it looks like I'm actually one of those 300k subscribers. I tend to watch just their larger shows, like end-of-year favorites and stuff like that. Got a few great albums and bands from it.

Ex-Dodecahedron's guitarist/songwriter/founder's new band goes more electronic and drops drums. I think there's a lot to like about this industrial-tinged sound, but sometimes it really does sound like blast beats have been replaced with a weird sound not unlike wet fish slapping (as an AMG commenter said). Drum-less metal is something I've wanted for a while and that part mostly works.

Dodecahedron was God-tier so I must check this out.

I dig crunchy.

Yeah, a number of us like OC.

Orbit Culture is one of those rare bands that mix clean and "unclean" vocals that I really like. Good stuff.

Here's one I can't believe I missed from 2020. It would have definitely made my list had I known about it, and there's so much to get stuck in your head in this. Finnish melodic black metal. Haven't been able to get enough of this one.

Brand new re-recording of the first ever Thy Catafalque. Seems like Tamas is enjoying going through his old stuff, which I'm glad for as Naiv came off a little slapshot to me.

Apparently they released a 13 disc collection of all the TC records. Crap. That's one expensive purchase, but ...

Nice, thanks garion, I shall be checking that one out.

DVNE's new album came out today! A very nice surprise since I totally forgot it was coming. I've only heard half so far and it's been amazing already.

Oh snap, I didn't make it down far enough into my Release Radar playlist as I went down a Thy Catafalque hole. Lol

I think the single that DVNE released earlier, Omega Severer, works better in the context of the album as a whole. On my third listen. Still digesting.

The next to last song is making Tool's extra tracks look meaningful.

This album is gonna take a long while to digest. It sounds too much like Asheran and I'm struggling to find any real hooks. Better sound, but every song feels longer than necessary because of the ambient/instrumental/whatever tracks.

I might go back to Thy Catafalque for the rest of the workday.

For fans of Hardcore, my best friend is the drummer for the band No Escape from the 90s. They just released a new record and it's getting good reviews

From last year. Riff heavy. Apologies to anyone who may have posted it before.

I am a Howard Jones fan.

Ex-Negura Bunget guys back at it again. Been, oh, almost a decade since their last album.

Gojira has released 4 songs in advance of the album (4/30), and I love every one of them. Here's today's:

Jon Schaffer is pleasing guilty to two of his charges, which are felonies, and will be going to jail for three+ years. He is cooperating, so that number may continue to come down.

He's the first person to plead guilty stemming from Jan 6.

Man, I really slept on the latest Mors album. I guess they became so ... solid and expected that I lost my interest, but sometimes it's nice to spin something and go "duh, they're still awesome".

Probably should've posted this one, but they didn't have a video for it. Instead here's a lyric video someone cut with GoT clips.

The song is power metal influenced, which is creeping more and more into Mors' sound. I welcome it as their guitarist is hella good (and writing all the music at this point).

Well, got me to give it a click. Digging the sound of the music, but I'm not wholly sold on the vocals yet.
