Hi Everyone
I have my dad visiting me for while and made him bring his pc so we can get some coop gaming going. We are currently enjoying CIv4 but I've been meaning to try Sins of Solar Empire, I thought this would be the perfect time to try it with my dad. Problem is I don't know how much I'm going to like this game and also don't know if it's going to be overwhelming for my dad. So I went to Impulse and looked for the game and all I could find was the expansions or a bundle of the game plus the expansions. I think it was called Trinity.
Am I missing anything? I just want the digital version of the original game, but it doesn't seem to be offered anywhere on the site.
Thanks
That's how I see it too. Nice of them to make that decision for you, rather than offering both vanilla and bundle versions, even if the bundle was priced at "You'd be stupid not to".
The base game only appears to be available in boxed form now. I agree that it's kind of a weird decision to discontinue the base digital version.

Coincidentally, I just encountered the same issue. I know the bundle is reasonably priced, but I've only a casual interest in the game, so I assumed that the base version would be plenty.

They've taken away my "You'd be stupid not to options" and I won't stand for it. Last thing I wanted was to go to a retail store hunting for an older pc game.
I believe that even if you buy the bundle that you can play the base game. At least as someone who bought the game and the expansions individually, I can choose which executable to launch.
Also I assume that even if you buy the retail box that you'll be able to enter your CD-Key into Impulse to have your digital copy.
And I believe there is a Sins of a Solar Empire demo out there if you want to try the game before you buy it.

Yeah the demo should be what you hit first.
Oh Cool I had no idea there was a demo.
Also having access to digital copy if I buy the retail is very convenient.
I'll give that a try, Thanks guys.
Not to mention they have no problem with people buying 1 copy and installing it on two computers to play over Lan. At least I believe that is the case.

Really?? Is that the case. I love that they don't put drm on their games and I want to support them for that.
But if they are ok with me buying one copy to plan 2 player lan than [i]I'm sold.
I am almost positive it was Sins that my brother and I tried to play over LAN one holiday with my one copy and we were unable to with a 'same serial ID' or somesuch error. I can't be 100% sure we were doing it properly, but try it in advance if you can and prepare for the possibility of having to buy another copy.

You must have not been trying to play over a LAN, because I know I have done just that without a problem. If I tried to connect to each other through the on-line play, then you should get that error.

Apparently, you can now get the original game for $4 on Impulse. At that price, I'm in

Yeah, last week (week before last?) they put the vanilla version back on Impulse for $9.99. And now it's on super sale.
How did I live before digital distribution of old, cheap games?

I'll be getting myself and my dad a copy tonight. Love buying games without the guilt.
I finally caved in. I'm not much of an RTS guy, but I loved Homeworld and I'm a sucker for space stuff in general. Played through the tutorials, seems pretty sweet.
I've only played the entrenchment expansion, but i would highly recommend it. A problem with the base game is that it's hard to stop a fleet of ships from rolling through a planet meant to stop such fleet. The orbital cannons cant do much more than take out a couple ships, and it's easy to blow through you enemy's defenses simply by flying past them.
