Gears of War 3 - Catch All

Garden, I think that right now it's me and one guy from here who are gonna be matched up. If that's it, I'd like to get us paired up with you and your friend at 7 ET.

Sally, I'd like to get one of the spots in your game, but like Garden, our time difference causes problems for me during the week. I can't put in all that much time if you're starting 9:30 ET.

Drink coffee, you lazy bastard. Gears!

Seriously, who are you, and what have you done with the good Capt?!?!

Anyways, I'm definitely still in for some co-op, but first, some caveats:

- the wife is now in possession of my copy (I can't receive personal items at my work)
- the wife has plans to meet a friend for drinks - and possibly dinner - after work tonight, thus delaying receipt of said game in my paws
- I usually don't get online until around 10:30ish EST/9:30ish central (but am willing to stay up til 1-1:30am EST)
- the wife works Tue-Sat, so I'm good for marathon sessions on Saturday

So I dunno...if you are all anxious to get started right on the dot at 8:30 central, then feel free to get started without me, if you don't mind waiting...I'll make it worth your while

You c**********.

The campaign is definitely longer than expected. Played from 10 - 4 today, and I'm only 3 Acts in.

I just read on Co-Optimus that you need two gold accounts to bring a split-screen 2nd player online. That is a downer since I brought guests online quite a bit in the first two games. Hopefully that is a bug and they will patch it out.

Can't wait to fire this up tonight.

Sure, no problem. I'll send an invite before we get started.

PM me if you are interested in committing to a 4 player co-op run through beginning tonight!

Plan is to start around 8:30 central tonight, going until about 10:30 - 11central (we wills stop at the end of a chapter). Priority given to Garden Ninja, Nel e Nel, and Clemenstation (who i think has recused himself already, as he has to work). Glanton - you in?

Plan would be to go through every night this week to finish up campaign on 4 player co-op, with the same people, and then go through immediately again on insane when it opens up.

Please PM me here or on TA to let me know if you are down!

To confirm, starting tonight we have Nel e Nel, GardenNinja and Cube. Plan is to go 9 - 11 tonight, and play through the week. We will talk tonight to confirm schedule for the rest of the week / difficulty. For my part - I am ok to go through on casual and hunt the collectibles, and then do an insane run next week, but we can discuss:)

I think that Normal is as low as I want to go.

The Giant Bomb Quick Look said that Normal is pretty damn easy and vets might want to just start on Hardcore if they want any semblance of a challenge.

I'd be okay on casual as long as it still unlocks insane, and everyone gets the collectibles. Although, like I said, I'm running two games, so even if neither is the case, I'm okay with casual.

If you happen to hear some "Stranded" songs in the course of the campaign, there's a good chance I'm either singing them or laying down some bowed banjo.

Well, I just got home and tried to install it, and the freaking xbox hard locked. That's right, Gear of War 3 is so buggy it will cause crashes when you aren't even playing it!

*kick* Mine now.

Don't say that. I just started installing mine 5 minutes ago. D:

Edit: I seem to have come through unscathed.

Nice. I'll be looking (read: listening) out for those.

Purolator delivered this to me nice n' early. It is still in shrink wrap, staring holes into the back of my head as I try to get some work done at home.

Must resist temptation to goof off until later tonight...

I just picked up my copy, but I'm going to keep my suckage at FPS to myself for a while and play SP. If you see "me" online, it's probably one of my kids. Both of my boys and my son in law started circling me like sharks when I came in the door.

I'm finishing up dinner. I'll be going to be on in 15 minutes looking to start a campaign game.

I thought Gears let you play with individual player level difficulties. So if one person played Hard, the others could play normal or easy.

Sorry, guys, I got back to town late, then the wife had plans to go out to dinner with my step daughter, etc, etc.

I think it was an anti-Gears conspiracy

Played a few hours of SP tonight, 4-player coop. Absolutely loved it. There is a ton of polish to everything, and the new weapons and enemies are great. Tonight was easily my best gaming experience of the year so far.

Holy crap.

They REALLY want you to take the story seriously.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T CLICK THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE SPOILERS.

Spoiler:

They just killed off Dom. I was expecting Carmine to bite it at least 5 times in the first act, but holy crap.

Loving the multi-player so far. Finally feels like it's worth taking cover. Hope that doesn't change as time goes on and play styles evolve. I even downed a dude using blindfire tonight!

Yeah.. they're definitely trying.

They're still failing at it but they're trying anyway.

Played a good 3 hours of co-op tonight. I can tell this campaign will be pretty long since we stopped halfwaythrough Act 2 (out of 5 acts).

They weren't kidding about the set pieces.

Not sure if it's just the new game feel but the controls feel more responsive than they ever have. Rolling backwards to evade feels a bit strange, like it's more disorienting.

The only bug I ran into so far was losing a lot of A Button functionality near the end of Act I (no cover, no rolling, no roadie run) which required a restart but otherwise I am having fun and I'm actually looking forward to trying out Versus modes sooner than I might usually want to.

Played 4 hours last night and this isn't totally right. You can play private games online with a guest just no matchmaking. In Gears 2 you could do matchmaking.

Had a blast for the time I spent with the campaign last night. Hardcore is definitely harder as there are more enemies that can do one hit take downs (some even when your in cover). Those fireball throwing guys are particularly brutal. We had to make sure that the group was spread out enough so we wouldn't all go down in one hit. I can't imagine how insane is going to be but I'll sure be up for the challenge. Also, I'm half way through Act II and loving the level variety so far.

I'm up for some co-op tonight. Casual, normal, or hardcore.

My Out of Context senses are tingling right about now.

Had a great time last night with Nel, Garden, Trashie and Clem!

Cube - I sent you an FR, but never saw you online!

Plan is to go back in there tonight around 9 central - if we have a full 4 I am happy to go earlier (all depends). We will be looking for a 4th - and at the last chapter of act one.
