Gears of War 3 - Catch All

If you have played gears 1 or 2's MP - casual is not an option for you.

That's probably it. It's probably looking at Gears 2 levels. I think I'm 27 or so there after playing a bit of Horde last weekend with the 25x XP bonuses. (It was tickers only. Ick.)

Yeah, the devs had been saying that for the past several months since the beta. Gears 3 reads your profile and looks at your achievement list and determines if you need the 'primer' of Casual versus to get warmed up before going into Standard versus. I think you only get 10 kills in Casual before it boots you out, if I'm not mistaken.

Sally & nel e nel,

Tonight is D&D night, but I should be home around 10:30 if you guys don't mind starting a bit later. I can stay up a bit later to compensate if needed.

1030 your time or my time?

Sorry, my time. 10:30 PST, so about 30 minutes later than we have been starting.

Edit: If that's too late, don't let me keep you from starting. I can can always go back to chapters. I missed for the 4P co-op achievement.

930 should be good for me - it is easier if we keep playing together, as that way we are all at the same point in progression. We can try out some horde for a minute while waiting, if Nel is cool with that. Also we still need a 4th anyways.

Wouldn't that be 11:30 central time sally? And that would be 1:30am my time. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm definitely down for Horde and Beastmode as well.

Edit: wait, Garden is in Pennsylvania? durrr...10:30 is my usual sign on time anyways, so that's fine for me.

I look forward to playing this game on Saturday.

Here's Conan explaining how Gears 3 is less violent than previous games.

This might be the first game where I wished it was developed and released on the Xbox 720. The lack of AA and low Rez textures really stand out because Epic tried so hard to push the graphics. It still looks good but I keep wishing I was playing this on my PC

What were the reasons that GOW1 came to PC, just that they wanted to give People can fly a bit of practise on unreal engine before they made Bulletstorm, or is anyone aware of other reasons it happened while GOW2 didn't (and I assume GOW3 won't).

There is an unlock that you get for having played the PC version of Gears 1 so, at least, they aren't pretending that it never happened.

Spoiler:

I was actually sad and moved at Dom's death. Well done Epic. Music was perfect

Agreed.

Spoiler:

I was more touched by all the violence happening in that scene than by Dom's death itself. So much waste--the song title was very appropriate.

Anyway, I played Beast mode with some Goodjers this morning and then some TDM with pubbies. I really really liked both. Pubby TDM was not the shotgun-roll-festival I was expecting, either.

Apparently I thought Gears and Beers 3 was just a clever name for the Catch-All and completely missed this.

Tagging for later.

I really think they've got a good hold on the balance of multiplayer, now. Of course if you look on the Gears message boards or any other public message board you would see that the Sawed-Off completely ruins the game and only noobs use it and the Lancer is way overpowered and the only way you have any skill at this game is if you run solely with the Gnasher and all the people who use the Gnasher are never going to buy another Epic product again and turds and ridiculousness.

Sorry, did I not put enough spelling errors in there?

I think it's hilarious that the tables are turned on the Gnasher users. I'm loving the online in-fighting about as much as I'm loving the game. Ohoho!

You forgot that health care and minorities are ruining America.

Health Care is for noobs.

The Gears of War song during the credits is beyond lame..

Are you talking about the Body Count song? Yeah, it's pretty meh to say the least.

Also, I just want to apologize if I have offended anyone with my profuse using-the-Lord's-name-in-vain and sailor levels of cursing while playing with me.

Given that I hadn't paid attention to the cast before I played, I was surprised and happy that Claudia Black was voicing in this one.

Finished up the campaign last night and came away hugely impressed. I think this campaign was much better than Gears 1 or 2. Gears 3 has a much smoother and well balanced ride. There is also a good dose of variety to keep things rolling. The graphics are amazing and it was great to finally see the full color palette used. Now i just need to play through again in 4 player co-op and dig deep into multiplayer. Feel free to add me for some Gears action (gamertag: Serenj).

Going out, so I won't be around tonight for the 4-player campaign. Should be around tomorrow though.

Finished it as well on Hard. Will probably want to start a 4 player co-op run through soon, if anybody else is thinking about such a thing.

I'll be looking to play through in 4 player. Probably on insane but it appears the difficulty is set by the individual anyway so that shouldn't matter.

If anyone wants to play Horde or other MP types add me. Godwuzhere. I'd love to play without having to fish through the wonderful random folks you encounter on xbl.

Been fairly happy playing TDM and Execution against all Bots. Liking the gameplay and maps and feeling like I'm ready to graduate to playing real live live live gamers. I may feel elite battling against normal and hardcore bots and that will change mighty soon.

That's what I meant, I want to do an 4 player insane run. But you're right, it's individual by player.

I've always wondered about that. If you want the Insane experience but everyone is on Normal or Casual, you are getting a very diluted experience (and potentially being a constant hinderance to you teammates)

Probably right. If one guy is on insane, and other people are on Normal, everybody else might just be wiping out everything before the insane player can even pop his head out.
