Mount&Blade Warband Catch-all

COUNT FREAKIN RAICHIN, I've seen the guy puss out of at least 3 castle defenses.

What is up with the pansy-asses? I was running around trying to find all my heroes and build up some decent troops when I got an invitation to join the Vaegirs. I never run with them, so I decided to give it a whirl. Join up, and they are starting a campaign. AWESOME! So I join them in taking a castle, and am thinking how great every is going.

Then I take a mission to scout some Nord places, and notice that the Nords have assembled a huge army. So I ride to my Marshall and ask him to gather the troops and mess some sh*t up. He agrees. EXCEPT, when they get close to the Nords, they get all limp and just ride away. Constantly.

I mean, COME ON! This would have been an Epic battle for the ages! The entire Nord Kingdom against the entire Vaegir kingdom! Except the entire Vaegir kingdom is ruled by little school yard wimps.

Apparently I was so tired last night that I forgot to save after I conquered the second to the last Nord castle. So, I attacked it again and eventually took control and made my way over to the final Nord castle...only to have every remaining jarl come after me looking really pissed off that I single-handedly conquered their kingdom. Anyway, I fortunately ran into a couple Swadian counts as I was making a run for it and an epic battle ensued. 700 dead, wounded, and routed Nords later, the castle was mine for the taking, though the battle was very bloody. Thankfully, I was able to replenish my supply of troops from the castle's dungeon and returned back to Veluca (King Hapless didn't give me a single fief) only to find out one of our top counts, Haringoth, just defected over to the Sarranids and now we're at war with them. I think I may sit this war out unless they try knocking on my door.

Had some server troubles yesterday, and the Multiplayer was down for a while. It's back up, but I can't see any European servers. I don't ping anything lower than 150. I can get on those servers, but the extra little lag takes my already sucky skills to a whole new level of suckitude.

Look on the bright side. If you practice with such horrible handicap, you'll be rocking people's socks off when you play on low ping servers.

Updates to Mount&Blade: Warband have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The major changes include:

Version 1.110
New Game option to set Campaign AI to easy, normal or difficult NPC soldiers should now climb siege ladders without problem.
There is now a chance player companions will not fall prisoner with you when you are defeated.
The game will no longer crash if you move all your prisoner into a castle.
AI weapon selection improved.
AI will no longer equip two shields.
Your companions who are prisoners at a faction's castles are now set free when peace is declared.
Party skill bonuses are now calculated correctly.
Fixed slashing through your horse and buildings using hafted blades on horseback.
Added max_number_of_connections option to rgl_config.txt. Players who have difficulty receiving server list from internet can lower the default value (64) to 20 or so.
Number of maximum bandit parties reduced by 15%.
Added Chinese language option (Simplified and Traditional).
Many other bug-fixes.

Good, they fixed the siege ladder issue. That was the only really gamebreaking bug I ran into.
I wonder what the campaign AI options do, like lord parties maybe?

They also seemed to have fixed garrisoned troop wages.
Which is good because I was sick of loosing like 2000 denars a week for 50 guys in a town.

Are saved games compatible? I MUST know, before restarting Steam.

They are.

So I ended the war with the Saranids through the guild master quest. Now with the patch and not constantly raided villages I'm in the green at the weekly money time, yay!

We then declared war on the Nords, which was cool because they're on the other side of the map pretty much so there's very small chances of my villages getting raided. Also nice that I'll be able to play around with my now steady stream of Saranid recruits (mostly going to make mamalukes and try out some slaughtering techniques).

So far I've found out a few things, Nords have rediculously high damage output (all infantry do, even the recruits) but most of their troops have little to no armor and go down quick, so it's a matter of hitting them before they hit you. I find that putting my sergeants up front and bunched up to hold them while I have my xbows hit them at the side is the best tactic, though like I said I'm going to try some cav stuff with them too.

Also, Nords can hold the sh*t out of a Town/Castle.

Also, with the new AI campaign thing from what I've seen it affects lord behavior around the map (such as responding to sieges and raids/going on sieges and raids) and how well they set up their troop loadouts and garrisons. Though there's a bit of a bug with it where everytime you close out of the game it resets it's self to the 'poor' level so you have to manually put it to where you want after startup.

Yet another patch! They are fast. From Steam:

Version 1.111

- Fixed bug introduced in version 1.110 which caused problems with pathfinding on some maps.
- Fixed occasional crashes on the map screen.
- One handed swing animations on horseback changed.
- Splash screens added when exiting the game in trial mode.
- Links to various online and retail stores added to the trial window.

Latest patch seems to have brought with it an... erm... interesting animation bug.

Anyone else having trouble with your hotkeys not saving on the Steam version? I have to re-set my preferred keys every time I start it up.

*edit* And I'm on Windows 7, in the event this turns out to be user prefs trying to use a weird path to the "My Documents" directory.

It could be that there was a new patch every time you restarted. And the new patch overwrote your configuration files.

Also running Windows 7 and I don't have any issues with custom key config.

I've noticed that most of you don't seem to hot on the Nords. At least, those who post are typically aligned with some other faction. In the original, I was very much a Nord fan, and am starting to feel that way about Warband as well, for one reason.

Huscarls with f*ck you up.

It is a delight to watch, honestly. Unless you are on the other side of the axe.

Or if they run off like pussies because they're too chicken sh*t to kill their fellow country men. Dude, I gave you people dennars, roast pork, dried meat, fruit, and more dennars. Isn't that worth killing a few of your neighbors?

Ah, figured it out. If you have any unassigned keys, it won't save your binds.

Where do you get this info. I can't find any release notes.

Damn, I leave this alone for a couple of days and no sooner do I start whooping on the Sarranids, the Vaegirs declare war on Swadia. It's like the game doesn't want you to be successful.

Man, battlesizer at 250 sure is awesome...
Also, it looks like the first TC mod is out (somewhat) http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.p...

I finally took the plunge and broke away to form my own kingdom. I disbanded all but 1 soldier in Knudarr castle, went and found Kind Harlaus (up at his new capital, Sargoth, which I conquered for him) and revoked my vassalage. I then rode back down near Knudarr, attacked some villagers from Tosdhar to get my Swadian relations negative, this reduced my relations with Tosdhar, my former fief, from 99 to 96

Then I went back and reclaimed Knudarr for myself.

At the moment I've got about 10 lords (including noble companions) and I'm planning on taking Dhirim as my new capital.

I've put in over 150 game days with this character and my right to rule is about 60, and I have a lot of lords with relations over 20 and a few as high as 65. As they come at my fledgling kingdom I'm converting them to my cause. Mostly with claims of treating the common man well. I have 1 self serving lord (the first I recruited) who I told I would uphold the nobles rights, but I can see he's starting to stick out like a sore thumb among all my other chivalrous, noble lords. Guess I'll get to see what indicting someone for treason is like once his relation with me deteriorates down to about -20.

Damn, I'm about 50 or so days further than you and have no where near as much accomplished. I guess you were busy sucking up to lords and doing errands for your villagers while I was kicking asses.

I may have got the days wrong. just saved and quit on day 247. Don't worry Fed, I've been busy.

The weird thing is some of the guys I have over 20 relations with I've never met? (Like the Emirs, I've never been to Sarranid territory!) How's that work? Is is tied to Reputation or Honour? I figure honourable lords would hear of my deeds and respect me. Really helps with my luring Lords to my cause.

A massive suprise with my relations 99 village was when I went there to top up my army, and instead of getting 20 odd Swadian recruits or militia, I got Swadian Sharpshooters! at 10 buck a head.

The biggest headache I deal with is the rep hit with my lords whenever I give someone else a fief. I've lost and regained Derchios castle 3 or 4 times and I keep giving it back to the same lord, so his rep with me is 70, but I've had some lords (i'm looking at you Matheld!) get pissy and go from plus 10 to minus 10 just from that.

EDIT: God I love emergent gameplay. Kelreden castle is besieged by King Harlaus (240) and Count Klargus (160), The castle is defended by Firentus (24) I have a very small column of 50 trainees (I just dumped my experienced troops into a castle), I am followed by Lezalit (55), I know a fight against 400 is unwinnable at the moment and the Nords are making another push so I haven't got time to mess about.

I've done count Klargus a lot of good in the past so I have a little 'chat' with him. I tell him I'll uphold the rights of the commons, he thinks it sounds good, but is not convinced, usually I don't try to lure a lord unless they're on the same page as me, but this time I say let me rephrase that, since he indicated he wanted a strong ruler and a good cause, With my right to rule of 72 I tell him I deserve the throne, and he agrees.

The battle has just gone from 125 vs 400 to 285 vs 240, Look out Harlaus!

EDIT: Oh wow, looks like Klargus was in charge of Suno, My kingdom just got it's first town without bloodshed

201 days: I need to get to work!
IMAGE(http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/3957/mb1kw.th.jpg)

But how about these apples?!
IMAGE(http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/402/mb2e.jpg)
^that is real and taken about 5 mins ago
^seriously

Sorry Fed... My troops killed is 2379

I just had my first lord arbitrarily defect to me! Lord Gutlans from the Rhodoks.

The best I can do when handing out fiefs is minimise rep damage by talking to as many lords as I can to find out who they think deserves it then giving it to the guy the majority backs. The selfish lords that always support themselves get pissy, so this means half my lords (the noble, fair ones) all have relations over 50, and the greedy selfish lords (mostly the former companions) have negative relations.

EDIT: GEEZ! I just converted Lord Delinard, and all of a sudden I got Uxhal and Veluca! My kingdom is up to 3 towns, none of which were taken violently!

Mine is still a cooler number!!!

This constant war, and the bickering of the lords is getting old. I'm kinda longing for the days when I could do some sad little mission. Nowadays all I get to do is ping pong territories with the Nords, and convert the occasional Swadian lord that strays too close to me.

War. War never changes.

http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.p...

New TweakMB. Lets you tweak reputation changes for pretty much all the quests. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like it includes the granting of fiefs.

Vassal: M'lord, the Sarranids are advancing on our eastern front. Three villages have already fallen. We must send troops!
King Fedora: I do not send my troops to fight unless I am leading them.
Vassal: Then lead! People are dying!
King Fedora: I cannot.
Vassal: But... but why?
King Fedora rises from his throne dramatically: Because my kill count is a cool number.
