PAX East 2010

0) GWJ @ PAX East on Facebook!

Inspired by docbadwrench's post for PAX 2010, I think this thread is a little late.

I will be doing my best to make it out to this one. My stepmom has a house in Worcester so I may stay there, will see what happens, maybe board a few folks (or see how many we can cram in to beat out RabbitCon). We'll see.

1) Is anyone interested in looking into the group discounts?

PAX East 2010 FAQ

2) If you're going, PM me with a subject of "I'm attending PAX East 2010". That way, it won't get lost in the thread. Maybe also include where you're planning on staying, so it would be a bit easier to organize... something?

CURRENT ATTENDEES

dhaelis (Lenox Hotel)
kilanash
skeletonframes (Sheraton)
doubtingthomas396 (Sheraton)
Pyroman[FO]
grobstein (hopefully staying with friends, may only be there on Saturday)
MoralDilema (Sheraton)
Dangofrank88
Arovin (Sheraton)
MonoCheli + wife (Sea St.)
Atras
Archeious
Yew

3) PAX EAST 2010 SLAP & TICKLE - if you're planning on going, go to the PAX East S&T roll call thread to get yourself added to the list of attendees.

As per doubtingthomas396,

Date:Friday, March 26th
Time: 6:00PM
Location: Lir's Irish Pub - Don't go by the map on their website. They're directly across the street
from the Hynes Convention Center on Boylston St. Google Map.

PAX East is March 26th-28th. My 30th Birthday is on the 27th. I can't think of a better birthday present for myself. I've never been to a Slap n Tickle, so someone's gotta set something up.

How much (without airfare) does PAX usually run you? I gotta set a budget to start saving.

I'm considering a road trip, but will only go for it if I can get a friend or two to make the journey with me.

The 28th is my 28th.

I certainly am.

I've already got tickets to this one. I'll be there, maybe find an EconoLodge near the place somewhere, or talk my wife into visiting her friend in Boston that weekend. I'll be watching this thread to see what gives with the Goodjers East.

I could possibly collect people, but my car can seat 4, maybe 5 (let's say 4 comfortably), thus making it a "Catch-Some" as opposed to a "Catch-All". I'd be starting at one of the following:
A) I84 near the Hudson River and heading east
B) I84 to I691 to I95
C) I87 near the Hudson River to I90 in Albany, and head east.

If there's a snowstorm, however, I've bought my tickets for naught, unless I take the train.

Hell yeah, group birthday party! Buy us drinks!

Thin_J, where are you coming from?

I'll be driving from southwestern Michigan, and also this time around I will *make sure* I'm going. :p

We have our preregistration done and also have the hotel booked, through their discounts we a room in the one attached to the convention center. Going to be nice to not have to walk far.

All we have to do now is wait a bunch of months for March to get here.

As am I.

Fired off an email to the address listed.

Was this not looked into for PAX 2009?

We're thinking of going too, have to figure out the calendaring details.

I'll be there. Don't live in Boston anymore but have plenty of friends to stay with. So it's a cheap trip and a good way to visit folks; what's not to like?

Oh wow ... a hop-skip-and a jump for me. Well, that being about 2.5hrs. Got too much other RL stuff going on now so gonna have to hope I can go once money is all figured out

Hells yes I'll be there.

i'll be there.

I'll try to make it to his. Sort of a long drive from GA, but I think it will be worth it.

I hope to be there.

zerokfe and I are planning on attending. We're also hoping to spend some time in New York City as well since we've never been to the east coast.

I'm going to get my Pre-Reg on tomorrow. I haven't decided on my lodgings, yet, or if I'm going to drag one of my friends with me to help alleviate the 3-day hotel price. Either way, I should be there with the proverbial bells on.

Unfortunately, my cheap-ass ways will be tested, trying to find a place to pitch a tent within 45 minutes of Boston. Not likely.

I'm planning on going there and dragging some of the Ottawa GWJ crew along with me. We'll probably be planning it out more in the new year, though.

The wonderful state of Kentucky. Google maps tells me it's a bit over 14 hours to drive no matter which route I take.

Also, it will be March.

Plans are always ruined by details!

I will probably come for a day. It's an easy train ride from Providence.

Don't be a wimp. Put your sleeping bag in a sleeping bag. :p

Only got an auto-response from the group discount email saying he was setting up for PAX. Don't think there's any rush though.

I seriously wish I could go to PAX East 2010. But Sakura Con is two weeks after, which is where all my money goes. But I will work it into my budget to go to PAX West 2010 so that I can for sure hang out with everyone more than just at the S&T.

I'm planning to be at PAX East, can't wait to get back to PAX

I'll be heading up from Northern DE. Currently in planning with some friends and co-workers for travel logistics. May car pool or fly or take Amtrak, still up in the air. Haven't booked, yet, trying to figure out how many I'll have from my area.

I'm going for sure, now. Just pre-registered. I'll be driving 11 hours from Southeast Michigan. Should be fun. Now, I've just got to book a hotel, anybody know of any good deals? I have AAA, maybe I'll check with them. Look forward to seeing everyone there.
