is coming to the US and is going to be F2P. Woo!
Being fangoriously devoured by a gelatinous monster.
I haven't logged in for a while. How is the lag now?
It got kind of jittery in spots, but not unplayable. I may turn my graphic settings down next time I log on and see if that helps. I'm pretty close to maxed out at the moment.
A conversation with Goodjer the IRC bot.
Peron- Goodjer enjoys cartoon bewbs
Goodjer- Peron: sh*t was on the cartoon.
Peron- That's just nasty.
Asz- Goodjer: sh*t boobs?
Goodjer- Asz:I like boobs and technology... Now if only there were more boobs.
I need to submit a bug report, but did anyone else have to do the tutorial in the turret twice? For some reason when I finished it I had to run back through from the beginning. Once I had done it the second time it started a cinematic, but at one point the voice over cut off and it would only display the text for a second or two.
Hey! That's the exact point it use to crash on me.
How did I live before digital distribution of old, cheap games?
You did live before digital distribution of old, cheap games. Now you just play games.
Anybody still playing the beta? I carved out some time to play last night, and decided to try and blow through the prologue missions so I could get to the part where you choose a race. I got to the second part of the Battle of the Spire, but bit it trying to take out the ship that looks like a bat'leth, and decided to go to bed, since it was past midnight. I believe that's the last mission before you choose a race.
I have to say, I think the prologue is going on a bit longer than I really like. I know it's an MMO, but I kind of feel like all the tutorial stuff could have been streamlined a bit better, and there's some arbitrary "Go here, scan this, now go back and scan this, collect this thing and go back here, oh there's the bad guys." Also, I'm not digging the joystick controls as much as I feel like I should. The moving reticle works really well for piloting with the mouse, but I'd rather have it locked for stick flying. That being said, flying with the stick is more natural to me, and I can make better use of my maneuverability. It might be better if there was a slightly sticky reticle for flight stick players, but that might be too much of a gimme.
I am going to be siding Genide once I get my pick. They seem to be outnumbered at least 3 to 1 from what I've seen on the boards, and they apparently have the faster ships of the two. And speed is life. Though, I admit to be more attracted to the look and story of the Tyi. Though that may be because you really don't have much contact with the Genide in the prologue.
I've been playing a little. I played past the tutorial and am caught in a bit of a grindy part of the game. I'm level 7 and it takes FOREVER to level once you pick a side. (I'm Tyi, see you in PVP btw).
It's a pretty game, but there's nothing there in the way of unique gameplay. The most fun missions are the ones where you take down capital ships, but those missions are far and few between.
Maybe I'll play more tonight.
This place is soft.
Haven't played in a while. The fact that the game will be PvP focussed, kills my attraction to it.

Open Beta now, anyone can play. I'm still working through tutorial missions. I like the combat and flight model a lot, will have to see if the main game holds my attention.
What I was looking for: big capital ships in rather ponderous space combat with a lot of systems to manage.
Have you heard about our lord and savior, Rules of Engagement?
Ironically, I just got an email saying I was in the closed beta for the next release/expansion/whatever they're referring to it as.
