Is the game available for North America yet?

Sorry, you are correct. I thought it was everyone as I'm able to play, buy I also participated in the EU beta.

Players from North America who participated in the closed beta will be able to play on the EU servers. Playing on both regions will be possible for all users once the EU and the North American versions are live. However, we are not going to offer any transfer service for the upcoming North American servers. If you decide to start playing on the EU servers you will have to reroll your characters on the North American servers again.

Furthermore the North American beta servers are deployed as we speak. We are expecting to send out the first invitations within the next 48 hours.

From here.

Looks like the NA beta has started: http://www.blackprophecy.com/index.p...

Aaarrrggghhhhhh! I downloaded the wrong client the other night.

I was all excited to get home from work to try this tonight, but after 30 minutes of figuring out why I couldn't log in; I noticed on their download page there was an EU and US versions. Looked a the one I dl'd from their homepage the other night and it said EU.
Guess I'll try it tomorrow, because by the time this finishes I'll be out with friends.

The game is out for Europe and in closed beta for north america. I was able to snag a beta key from here. I whipped out my old joystick and am patiently waiting for the client to finish downloading.

Have it. Played it.

Voice work is awful but I like the flying, using a mouse still feels really loose, though. I'm going to play with the settings to see if I can work that out.

Also, gonna break out the old sidewinder.

I might end up really liking this but I can already tell that it won't fill the tie fighter sized hole in my heart =(

Do we want to make a real Catch-all? I imagine a lot more of us will start trickling in.

Finally got in the game. Didn't realize NA was a closed Beta; luckily Massively had plenty of keys to give away.

I've put in a couple of hours and while it still needs some polish (this seems to be a proper beta rather than a masked demo), this has the potential to be the Privateer style MMO I was hoping Jumpgate Evolution would be. It's absolutely gorgeous for what's going to be a free to play title as well. The mouse flying does feel a bit loose as oilypenguin said but I got used to it pretty fast. The biggest problem is that the tutorials don't feel complete and I've had a few instances now where I'm supposed to go somewhere to do a mission and am given no real idea where the location is. The voice acting is pretty poor but better than you find in many European titles. I'm looking forward to putting some more time into this. I really hope it keeps the Privateer feel up cause if it does, I'm in.

I actually like the slightly loose mouse controls. It lets you fly in the general direction and then have some wiggle room for finer targeting.

One thing I really hope for is the ability to own and fly bigger ships other than solely in special story missions. So far I have been able to fly a transport and a beefier fighter in addition to the stock shuttle. But so far you can only keep and customize the shuttle.

I am just about to the point in the story where I think I get to choose a faction. I can't wait to see what ship options await.

I need to put some more time in, hopefully tomorrow.

One thing I found myself doing was skipping the tutorials and just stumbling through it. I find I have little patience for reading when I could be zipping around in a ship taking potshots at things.

Have they fixed the horrible lag yet when I played over the weekend it was pretty much unplayable.

We should all try to hook up sometime. I'm still not out of the tutorial though.
I'm Dierechnung by the way, thinking of going Genide because I like the look of their ships.

Finally got out of the tutorial tonight; went Genide as planned. This game has a lot of fun/potential for free to play title. Really hope there are more ship designs in the full release.
Didn't like how the first missions after picking a faction were PvP missions (I avoid PvP as often as possible); if they weren't PvP then the spawns were being camped by opposing players.

i thought i had an invite for this, but i dont. just signed up for the site is all.

Massively might still have keys left. If not, I just might have grabbed an extra one. I'll let you know if I do.

Having tried the beta my main complaint is that I don't have a proper flight stick for the full feel. Other than this the voice overs are pretty cheesy so far but maybe that will clear up as I get further in. If they handle the MT aspect well (rather than "I'm rich so I can easily and consistently kick your ass") I could see picking up a decent stick for this and other titles.

Played with a stick few sessions, but ended up going to mouse/keyboard combo. I am just not good enough with a flight stick to keep the crosshairs on target; I find I do better with leading on the mouse as well.

I tried both as well and the mouse and keyboard was way more accurate.

Signed up a couple days ago and got an email this afternoon letting me join the closed beta - downloading as we speak. Running under the name Cymbriel and will join up with Genide once I'm able.

edit - well, seems the downloader started, then quit after I logged out from my remote connection via work, so no BP for me tonight.

Took me about an hour to get it downloaded and installed. Apparently I signed up for this a while back, got in, but forgot about it. So far I've only played the tutorial. It looks nice, but it locked up my pc at the end of part 2 of the tutorial. Might try it again tonight if I have some time, maybe it was just a fluke.

My character name is Veloreyn.

Finally got through the entire prologue - they need to do some adjustment on how they present missions as I was lost as to where to go for a couple, and from the looks of the chat, I wasn't the only one. Do we have a GWJ Genide clan up and running yet?

I'm liking the game even with some of the rough edges. There do seem to be a LOT of cutscene/movies though and there are times where you activate something, but don't know if it really activated or not until *whoosh* you are off.

Control wise I'm sticking with Mouse/keyboard also, seems more intuitive for me.

-------edit

So anyone else playing this at all? I'm starting to get the grindy feel and I'm only level 7 at this point. The open world is a mess of ganking and the missions you get that send you there are not very clear in what you have to do (i.e. - does "kill 10 Tyi fighters" mean kill 10 via pvp or what?) The quickplay has been somewhat rewarding but grows stale after a little while.

Then I find this nugget - when you look at modding a ship component, when it says "25m 0s" it means 25 full minutes of real life time that you are stuck there doing jack-squat. Then the reply of "there will be something in the cash shop to buy that will speed that up" makes me about ready to quit helping beta-test this game. It also seems that the NA beta test is really more of stress test type as this is the same version that is the release version for the EU side.

*sigh* I'd be willing to pay money for a quality game that has some of these elements (oh Freelancer how I miss thee). Not sure that BP is going to have a very long life, but it is just a closed beta, I think.

Well it's going to be f2p so it'll boil down to what they offer to buy with cash and how it effects the game. If the items arent game changing i see people jumping on and poking around on this for awhile.

I've stopped playing for now. It just gets too boring to me doing random missions and I've apparently not found the secret of XP gains. I will probably check back in after an update or two, but for now I'm parking my ship.

Tagged. Sorry, I'm useless. The next space sim thread is putting a lot of new targets on my SPACE radar.

Is the beta open for anyone?

It's still in closed beta, but there's still a few sites out there with keys. I played a little the other day, it's pretty decent.

I got into the beta. Can't wait to play tonight

Got my beta key yesterday and had a chance to hop online and run through the tutorial and some of the early missions with a buddy. Grubber I guess saw me online and said hi.

I need to submit a bug report, but did anyone else have to do the tutorial in the turret twice? For some reason when I finished it I had to run back through from the beginning. Once I had done it the second time it started a cinematic, but at one point the voice over cut off and it would only display the text for a second or two.

Anyways, I had a really good time with the little time I did spend, and I'm really looking forward to more.

Yeah, I was trying to find Commander Noah and I just happened to see your name there on the player list.

I didn't have any bugs, but the turret sequence did seem to go on forever.

I'll be on again tonight if any goodjers want to try a team mission or something. Or just want to chat.

My name is "Grubber"

P.S. When do I get to choose my race? I want to be a robot man!

I haven't logged in for a while. How is the lag now?
