hmm, anyone want to send me a recall key? I'll be careful to subscribe using one of the few sanctioned methods so you get rewards.

The recall program isn't currently active, or I'd be happy to.

Man that trailer sent chills.

Looking at the website it seems like they have opened up more solo-friendly gameplay like exploring wormholes and salvaging. Don't remember those from my time with the trial back in...2008. And that was a second trail, the one before that was in 2005.

Should I just activate for a month to check things out, or try out a brand new trail again to get the full new player experience towards being an Explorer or Salvager?

There's never a good reason to start from scratch. All the guidance and tutorials that are available to a brand new character are also available to a returning account.

The game's not really any more solo friendly than it has ever been with the possible exception of the brand new wormholes that only allow very small ships. Those areas will at least give you more of an even footing than the standard wormholes that are often full of T3 cruisers and capitals, but a solo player will still need to be very cautious and very sneaky to thrive.

Anyone here going to Fanfest in Iceland?

Repping my old corp, they put out an alright video

If anyone is into the sov warfare stuff, final timer in BRAVE's home system in Catch is about to go live, Local is almost 1000 players right now.

I had almost no interest in VR and, by extension, Valk, but that trailer looks amazing.

That's all gameplay footage. Early, pre-alpha, but actual gameplay nonetheless.

Da-a-a-a-mn but CCP puts out a hell of a trailer.

It's not a trailer ><

In other EVE news, here's a new video for Valkyrie. Looks fantastic, and this could definitely be something that drags me back in.

To me, trailers don't use actual captured footage from the game, which is what that is. I've seen a lot of trailers that look amazing, but the actual game falls lightyears short of it. Since this is a minimum of what we'll get when it goes live, it's not a trailer to me. And that's even with me screwing up and calling it a trailer earlier.

Its staged gameplay, released for media consumption. That's pretty much the definition for one kind of trailer.

Normally I look at a CCP trailer, and think 'Wow, that would be a great game, would love to play. Guess I might go play Eve until then'. Pretty amazing to think that what is shown here is going to be the game, and probably improved still before release.

Man, if they just redid Freespace, Allegiance, Jumpgate or Freelancer using this engine... the mind boggles.

Regardless of whether they use actual gameplay or not, I think we can agree that most of the videos CCP puts out are awesome!

I found a new fitting / loadout sharing web tool at https://o.smium.org/

Has a pretty nice layout and searching feature. You can export to EFT and other things from the Meta tab of each loadout.

Is Eve hurting for subs or something? I seem to get a "limited time special promotion!" trying to get me to resub about every month now.

I don't think they're hurting at all. The resub deals have always been sent out when expansions were released and they switched to a mush faster content push cycle so they're generated more often.

The new changes are actually pretty damn nice, they're making headway into fixing Sov warfare at long last.

I got accepted into Karmafleet and moved out to null!

Haven't undocked from hq yet, but will probably start some exploration for isk soon. And maybe some easy PI.

I am on the verge to pick up Eve again...
Still got my two accounts laying around, and it would be great to make use of them again.
But if I will re-sub I will most certainly become a greenhorn (a.k.a. nOOb) again. So what's up with Eve nowadays? Should I get back to mining or is planetary interaction lucrative these days?
For fun I hope roaming gangs in frigates are still around, or is that a thing of the past?
Thanks in advance GWJ'ers, you're the best and fly safe! o7

That's funny, I just got pulled back in as well. I never spent much time actually learning the other times I was in, so I've joined OUCH in an attempt to learn null and PvP. My goal is to get into small gang PvP, while most likely mining to finance it. As far as I know mining and PI are still profitable, and roaming frigates are still a thing. Something relatively new are the Destroyers that can fit Micro-Warp Field Generators, so you might read up on that as well.
Be sure to hop in the GWJ Eve Chat! (info in the first post)

Blimey, looks like I'll have to clean out the clubhouse fridge at this rate !

3 GWJ Eve posts in 24 hours?!

Thanks for fast response GWJ'ers!
When I get back home in January I will absolutely give Eve another try!
OUCH and Eve Uni looks like good places to reignite my knowledge about the Eve Universe.
Hope to see you in the void!
Fly safe! o7

Damn, I'm getting my annual itch to jump back into Eve. Maybe the craptastic USD->CAD exchange will be enough (adding 40% to the posted usd sub fee) to push even the cheapest option into 'oh, probably not worth it' territory until next year.

I'm guessing this is an already existing account? If not, one of us can give you the 21 day referral. I think a plex comes with it as well if you sub. I'd be more than happy to turn that over to you in order to get you 2 months.

Ok, so I'm back online in New Eden...
Started up an old alt-account and maybe thinking of kicking the main account in to gear if everything plays out well with this guy;

I still have to sign in to the GWJ channel and get my stuff together and soon I hopefully be equipped for some exploring.

Been checking out WingspanTT's videos about exploring, and even if the videos are a bit old (I think he made the videos of him exploring wormholes back in 2014, correct me if I'm wrong) they got me hyped up for some covert scanning and exploring uncharted space.

See you out there, or maybe not if I see you first, I probably already initiated the cloak...

It took me almost 6 months of (very) sporadic playing to decide that yes, I do want to play this game and so dammit, I should probably get out of my NPC corp. So now I'm sitting in the interview queue to join E-Uni... If you see me flying where I shouldn't, just tell me before you start shooting.

I share your sentiments. I started playing again 2 weeks ago (after 9 years in character stasis) and remembered how much I love the feel of tooling around the universe in a powerful spaceship. I've been struggling to work myself up into actually applying to a PC Corp though... Eve-U is a tremendous resource, so I've heard, but it carries a bit too big of a bullseye for my taste.

At this stage I kinda want a non-pvp version of Eve, I know it wouldn't draw the same interest or attention in from most who love Eve but I'd love to explore the galaxy and tend to various things without constantly having to worry about getting screwed by random individuals or groups I really have no hope of defense against.
