EVE Online - Catch All & new meat check-in

I've come back to glorious war!

My current alliance, Romanian Legion, is now trying to defend its space against Nulli Secunda, VeraCruz and Nem3sis. Today, the first day of their invasion, they brought around 2x our numbers into our main system, TPAR-G. We are supported in this war by our stalwart allies, Stain Empire and c0ven. However, our numbers are small and combined, we peaked at 250 blues in local at about 750 total in system.

We are still fighting above our weight class but sov warfare favors numbers. All of our sovereign systems are now contested with SBUs, our jumpbridge networks are down and most of our station facilities are shutdown, bubbled and camped. But we fought, and will hopefully continue to fight. Systems are won or lost, but friendship is magic:

Also, there was a skirmish between a TEST roaming gang and some of our hostiles next door while we were engaging the main hostile fleet. Test are neutral to both sides.

For anyone following CSM election results, they're in; Mittani won the chairmanship again, breaking 10k votes. Pretty incredible if you ask me.

Oh, new trailer:

Brings to mind a few of the previous trailers, and the 'that looks like a really cool game, wonder when they will make it, guess we will just have to play Eve til then' comments. CCP makes some great trailers.

Holy crap, you got some really tough opponents there. Few months ago WH I used to live in got invaded and the odds were pretty much the same, but at least we went down with style downing some rather pricey vessels.
Oh, and c0ven is Polish ally, aren't they? First to fight!

c0ven are indeed Polish and SE are also from eastern europe, I'm tempted to say Ukraine. They are pretty awesome.

The inevitable happened, Romanian Legion (also known as Romulans because of a previous campaign) are now out of Period Basis. The post-mortem on our Period Basis: Fleet Command needs to grow beyond 1 person, the other FCs are small gang only. Logistics was also terrible. RL continues to fight, basing mostly from Esoteria with our allies and maintaining a fighting presence in Stain.

Wormholes are fun, but they are now also the domain of large and extremely capable groups. Skirmishes are still winnable by small groups. My corp of 40 defended a WH for a few days against a more skilled (game experience and skill points-wise) and larger group sometime last year. However, once that group decided invasion was more fun than just skirmishing, we lost it in a matter of hours.

BTW, anyone following the drama over CSM Chairman and Goon Spymaster The Mittani's recent drama?

Here are a couple of links for those of you who haven't heard of it http://www.tentonhammer.com/eve/news...

It started as him doing something less than smart and has turned into a RL scam. Meh, just another day in EVE.

Meanwhile I did manage to loose my first Falcon in an extremely stupid way. We were farming ladar, spotted that we have a buzzard probing us, but we had a scout on each wh so we just waited for more guests. Finally some 3 frigates jump in, so we warp to our home wh (we were farming in a static) - all this time I'm watching the action in cloak and report that these guys are still in the cloud, looting our can. My corp mates (3 of them) jump to their pvp ships, manage to come back and shoot down one.

Turns out some wh corp wanted to try out some new members. That casuality obviously didn't pass the test. : )
Few mins later we're back in mining ships and I park my Falcon at some wh - scouting. 15 mins later they jump in, this time tornado, scimitar and some interdictor. One of our guys warps to them in tengu and I warp in falcon too. Turns out I warp to the wrong bookmark and I end up 30km away from them and in the middle of the cloud so I'm decloaked. Tengu is 100km away from me, so I'm helpless. Interdictor puts up a warp bubble, so I turn MWD on and align to some planet. Meanwhile targetting them and trying to jamm. I have rainbow jammers, and decide to use yellows on minmatar ships for some reason (how could I be so stupid). I miss. Noticing I'm reaching the end of the bubble I'm warping to the WH. While aligning they finally get me and my first falcon goes with a blast. At least I'm able to escape with a pod safely.
Several mistakes. I should have double checked the bookmarks not to warp into the cloud. Then I didn't overheat the modules.

Then I didn't warp to the thing I was aligned to but to a new target, and I would probably escape if I'd do that.
And finally I didn't use red jams for minmatar ships. How foolish.
Well, since this is such an unpopular thread, I thought I'd share some experience of noobie pvp'er.

Don't worry about it Slup, there are some of us here. I would say join the GWJ channel, but during GMT I'm usually the only one in there, so you might not want to.

Oh, I'm CONSTANTLY on GWJ channel, but I live in London, so we probably have different playtimes.

I'm in England too, so I'm guessing we don't.

Oh, new trailer:

Damn it! I hate watching EVE trailers. Everytime I see one I get a sudden urge to go play EVE. And while there is nothing wrong with EVE (I actually think it is an amazing game,) I don't have the time to put into it to make it worth playing!! ARG!! Now I'll probably reinstall it and start a character within the week only to then stop playing within 3 weeks.

So... yeah. I'm back in. How do you join chat channels? (I forgot how.)

At the top right of the chat panel there is a little bubble right beneath the minimize icon - click that. I think the channel details are in a sticky, but if not

Channel name - GWJ
Password - gwjeve

Hockosi has mentioned EVE to me a couple times in the past couple of weeks. No, I don't have an active account atm. No, I don't plan to.

But the FanFest happened. Dammit this game has a way of pulling at me, but I can never seem to last more than a few months. Perhaps after I move (in two weeks) and have a steady stream of income coming in I'll reup. In the meantime I'll watch more pretty videos. Man, they make good videos. I like them more than Blizzard's videos and Blizzard makes some of the best (though I tend to dislike their games).

Anyway, let's see how long I last.

Steam says you are playing EVE Online right now. O-o

Oh, that was to get it patched up. I'm not actually playing.

Edit: SPY!

btw, there is no need for a password when entering GWJ channel, I think.

Today I harvested my first ladar vital field - all by myself using 2 accounts. Somewhat proud. Took around 4 hours, I watched 2 movies meanwhile.

Think there is - 'gwjeve'.

I found my first ladar site today. Unfortunately, I don't have the 23 million ISK needed to purchase the Gas harvesting skill. Oh well, back to more ore mining in Grav sites. At least I should be able to fly my Osprey before the end of the day.

Edit: Currently I have a Badger for my JetCan mining runs. What's the next ship I should plan on getting that will give me more cargo space for transporting the ore I mine? Do I just get the higher tech Badger?

T2 badger (crane, from memory) is a blockade runner for quite specific purposes. To up your cargo space, you could fit cargo expanders in low slots, and train industrial (Caldari in your case).

If you are serious about taking loads of cargo, then actually you might be better off going with Gallente industrial skill and buying their ships - there are 5 ships in their series compared with the 2 for the other races, and the Iteron V will take a hell of a lot of kit.

Oh, and be careful jetcan mining, there's nothing a griefer likes more than to mess with your cans...

Can they do anything to it besides taking the contents or destorying it?

There are a number of tricks - griefers will occasionally jettison a can next to yours and give it the same name. You can put ore into their can by accident without penalty, but taking it out is theft and gives them a chance to have a go at you without CONCORD turning up. Once you start mining in more expensive specialist ships, like the Covetor or Hulk, then people often won't be bothered about losing a 2m frigate to give their gangmates a chance to trash a 200m Hulk.

Oh, and be very careful when the annual event known as 'Hulkageddon' is on...its purpose is what it says on the tin

There is a really interesting blog on trading for a new person here:

http://fulldisclosureeve.wordpress.com/

I'm going to start manufacturing myself but it'll be slow to really make money as I plan to collect BPO and research them in hi-sec (long line). I'm going to make do in the meantime trying to find profitable 0 ME BPO, e.g. thrashers. There's a bunch of ways to make money but I have to think on it. The guy who wrote the blog has more talent for seeing profit than I do.

It's worth pointing out that Hulkageddon targets any and all specialist mining ships and their hauling associates. Best just to set a few long skills and dock up.

Been having a ton of fun in Eve the past month. My character is Manaswa for those of you who've said "Hi" in GWJ chat.

I'm in love with my new Vargur. The new changes in loot seem to encourage the loot as you go style of Marauders as opposed to the Noctis. Depends on the mission though.

Oh, and are drone missions even worth taking anymore? Crappy bounties, crappy salvage, and NO drops whatsoever.

I've been having fun in low sec exploration as well. I roll with an armor tanked cane with 3 gravity rigs on it. I have to say Gallente low sec is freaking dead as a tomb.

Heck, once Hulkageddon is over it might actually be profitable to mine again. There is just so much to do in this game!

oh my god, Jita is really burning.

Dock up and go ratting. Or sell shuttles.

Figured I'd give EVE a spin for a little bit, and noticed they have a referral program. Dunno if I'll actually sub up (Mostly playing for research purposes, honestly.), but may as well have someone get stuff if I do decide to.

Anyone feel like tossing me a referral?
